Returning to running after knee issues
Hi, I used to love running and possibly overdone it, and ended up having a knee injury. I have stopped running for around 3 months, and I am looking to get back into it. The other day I went a 20 minute slow easy run just to test how my knee was, and apart from a slight feeling during my warm up walk, i was pain free. What…

runners knee issue
Hi I started running last aug, completing the couch to 5k programme, then continued to complete a few 10ks before stopping running in Dec because o started a new job. Anyway, I started running again in Feb, but had to stop after a month after a 13km run, which left me with a sore knee. I hadn't ran since then, and then…

Blending protein shakes
This is probably a silly question but does blending/grinding protein powder change how effective they are? I know they have their critics but they do work in keeping me fuller so personally I agree with their use. I was thinking of blending because I find them hard to drink if they haven't mixed well. The shake I have been…

Chicken: cooked or undercooked?
I have recently been overcooking chicken in fear of getting salmonella; but this ruins the taste of the chicken I feel, leaving it dry. I know to avoid pinkness inside the chicken, like this: http://www.healthguidance.org/hgimages/16240Undercooked.jpg However, whenever I cook it, it always had little red/pink spots in it.…

What to eat to keep up a diet whilst working in an office
I'm aiming to eat 5-6 smaller meals a day, but I am finding it difficult to think of what to eat for inbetween breakfast/lunch/dinner whilst maintaining a high protein, low carb diet Just now I usually have breakfast at 7, lunch at half 1, and dinner at 7. I read online that it is best to try to eat every 3 hours, where as…

Calories in soup
My mum made a big pot of soup that contained a scotch broth mix, a mix of lentils, barley and peas. According to the back of the pack it says 100g = 100 calories, which is the weight dry. I ate a quarter of the batch, so is this only 50 calories? This seems very low for a large amount of soup Thanks.

Started out with couch to 5k..
Two months I started with couch to 5k and enjoyed getting into running. The first couple of weeks were a struggle. By week 4 I felt I could more, so ended up adopting a 10k plan, which would be complete in time for a 10k race. Today I completed the 10k in 53:54, which I am ecstatic about! Managed to do the full thing…

Plan after first 10k
I am running my first 10k on Sunday and can't wait for it. I started out with c25k then adopted a 10k plan. So what next? My predicted time for the 10k is around 55 minutes. Should I start a half marathon plan or try and get a faster 10k time? I much prefer following a set plan instead of simply going out and running til I…

Ignoring measuring myself weekly...
I'm on week 5 of c25k, and have been weighing myself weekly. I'm a 5"6 22 year old male, and when I started c25k I was about 154lbs. After the first week of running and sticking strictly to 1610 calories a day, I was down to 152lbs. Since week 2 I have been yoyo-ing from 150-152lbs, never going below that, still sticking…

Should I ditch this program for HIIT?
Hi, I have recently started c25k and had planned on starting week 4 tomorrow. I am thoroughly enjoying it, however my main objective is weight loss instead of improving my endurance. I was wondering what your thoughts are regarding whether I should give up on c25k and start a HIIT training program, such as this one:…

running uphill-downhill or downhill-uphill
I am currently trying to design some running routes in my local area, and I was wondering what peoples preferences are regarding whether the first half of their run should going primarily uphill, then the finishing the second half downhill, or vice versa. Do you prefer to have a tougher first half of the run then finish…

What is so good about porridge/oatmeal?
I am a big fan of porridge, and have it with water instead of milk to reduce fat intake, but I was wondering, why is it so recommended? Why is it nutritionally advantaged? I enjoy eating it every morning which is a good thing, but I've just been wondering!

Is there any apps available that help keep a certain pace?
I am looking for a way to keep a steady pace. I use the runkeeper app but that only gives current pace, which changes regularly. Maybe an app with a beep or something so you know when your foot has to touch the ground. Obviously this wont be accurate as people take longer strides and stuff, but it would help! Thanks
