Why let the scale run your life or self image?
So I know that there are wayyyy to many mfp users who are obsessed with the scale weight and this really bugs me so this is kind of a vent/outlet for me to hopefully put things in perspective for the scale obsessed. First a little back story to my journey thus far and what I have learned I started this journey over a year…

Have you had you "aha" moment yet?
Ok so I am sitting at my desk recovering from my workout last night and sore but happy. I like to take a bit of time once a week to reflect on the events that have transpired since my journey started and how this time around it has been so much easier for me than all previous attempts and it dawned on me, like a lightning…

You need to feed to succeed! repost from my blog
This is a foreign concept for a lot of ppl on here, men and women alike. The programming of eat as little as possible and work out as much as possible probably has not worked for you, and a lot of you may have plateaued for a while using that formula. I am not surprised and teaching ppl to trust food again is hard at the…

Geek to freak from the 4 hr body
I was wondering if anyone out there has tried the geek to freak program as outlined by tim ferris in the 4 hr body book. I started this program 4 days ago and am still tweaking things as time wears on here. The real challenge for me is getting the right caloric intake as according to the book it is 20 cals/lb of lean…

before and after for part 1
So I am posting this for the men and women of mfp with the intention to motivate you to keep on the path. My original intention was to just get down to a reasonable weight for me (roughly 170ish) but then decided to take it a step further and get as close to 10% bodyfat or 158 lbs (easily the lightest I have been since 14…

How mfp works
This post is for those whom seem to misunderstand how mfp works and need a reminder on it and the finer points of making it work for you. 1) When you joined and put in all your info mfp gave you a daily goal for calories. That goal already has the deficit needed to shed that weight built in right off the crack of the bat…

Caloric deficit
There seems to be a massive misconception about how this works on mfp and I want to set it clear once and for all. When you joined mfp and put in your info and the weight loss goal mfp sets it up so that you have the deficit needed to shed that weight with NO exercise whatsoever. You can sit on your butt and still shed…

Rename starvation mode to survival mode.
I know this is hotly contested on mfp and there are pretty much 2 main camps on here, those whom believe it to be true and know it to be true and those whom do not believe it to be true and firmly advocate that it is a myth. Now I am not here to debate it's existence or to initiate a debate about it but what I do want to…

High intensity interval training for all ages and weights.
I wanted to post this for the people on here who get intimidated by the very words "high intensity interval training" and I also hear quite frequently that they can not do it due to their weight or age. Now here is what I say to them, do not be scared, do not run from it. The basics are where you start from and build upon…

Feed to shed fat
So I recently read yet another post about working out like mad and not shedding fat the way they wanted or hitting a goal weight and still not seeing the desired results. So this provoked me to write yet another post about feeding the body right to get rid of the fat and preserve the muscle. I follow a very similar…

The paths to weight loss, my journey & your choice.
There are several paths to fat loss, we all know this you can do it chemically with pills, drugs or worse, you can do it by starving yourself, or you can do it the healthy way.. I will give you a guess which way I advocate. I have been on here more times than I care to count advocating time and again that the healthier…

Are you commiting metabolic suicide?
Simple question right? Are you working with or against your body? How do you know if you are working against it? Well I am going to say that you can answer these questions yourself, quite easily actually. How to read your body is something that we have gotten well out of touch with, and those whom have learned to read it…

political correctness
Ok this is a quasi rant/beef with the whole politically correct thing. Before I get started let me explain that I am in no way racist or sexist. I happen to think that diversity and different cultures are a good thing in today's society. We can all learn from each other and live together in a successful society but this…

Getting cals in when you are short on them

So how do I do it? Well the simple answer…

meeting the caloric goals set by mfp
I have read many posts about both men and women whom have trouble eating the number of calories set forth by mfp for them, and it should not be a shocker that many of us do not eat enough to optimize fat burning. We all understand to shed fat we need to eat better, make better choices, and workout, that is no great…

Joint pain/issues
I wanted to post this for those whom have been having joint pain from impact workouts like running, jogging, etc. I played a lot of soccer when I was younger and have had more knee/ankle injuries than I care to count, and because 90% or more of my jobs over the years have been very physical I tend to have joint issues. It…

The tools to shed fat and maintain or gain some muscle
We all need a helping hand to understand how fat loss can be simple, improving upon our diets and making it stick. Diet is not a secret to shed fat we can do that with a simple caloric deficit or burning more than we eat in the run of a day. To an extent this is true but where those cals come from can either turbo charge…
