There are several paths to fat loss, we all know this you can do it chemically with pills, drugs or worse, you can do it by starving yourself, or you can do it the healthy way.. I will give you a guess which way I advocate. I have been on here more times than I care to count advocating time and again that the healthier path should be the only path that you take. I know it falls on deaf ears and it pains me to see day in day out those whom do it in an unhealthy manner. Why you ask? Well simple I was once one like you, I bought into the whole starving to shed weight ideal eating like a mouse and working like an olympian to shed weight, buying those weight loss pills and you know what? It never lasted folks, the weight always came back, it always came back faster and was harder to shed so I gave up and had decided to just live.
The problem with that was my health, I was headed for a surgery room for health matters caused by poor diet. My docs flat out told me that the condition I had could not be cured by dropping weight, I was determined to prove them wrong and I did so. Now I was not massive, I was 198 at 5ft8". Yes I was overweight and yes it felt like crap every time I looked in the mirror. I felt like it was an insurmountable task. i was always miserable when dieting to shed weight, and yes I had success on atkins, and many other fad diets but they never lasted. Seeing a theme here? IT NEVER LASTED!! Why? Simple I went back to eating the way I did before and despite my best efforts I felt like a failure. So what changed this time around? Well I saw where I was headed, that was an early grave, and with a wife and son this was no longer acceptable to me. My health needed to be a priority and it needed to happen now, not a week from now, not a month, NOW! It was simply unacceptable to make this a short term goal, this has to be a lifestyle change! Something that lasts and something that will not fail in 3 months when I had the weight gone. I had hit an emotional wall where my path was now clear, it was time to be "that healthy guy" not wish I was him. I knew that there had to be a healthy way to do this, and a path that would lead to lasting results. My wife was a major player in this as she had started the journey prior to me, and was doing great with it she has lost 64 pounds to date and looks fantastic. She did it using mfp and setting goals every few weeks. So I took her lessons about better eating and started with that. I had lost nearly 10 pounds in a month by counting cals, trusting mfp numbers and working with my body. I trusted mfp, logged accurately and religiously.
What amazed me was how easy the weight came off. Could it be that simple? Trust mfp and be diligent? Yes it is that simple, it will work for you if you do it right. I did it and so can you. So what has changed from then to now? Well I am at my old high school weight, I work out faithfully with ZERO excuses. There is no easy fat loss that lasts other than the healthy way, it is sweat hard work and tears. This journey has been an emotional roller coaster, there have been weeks I wanted to quit, but quitting on me was no longer an option. I stuck with it and am almost at phase 1 which is my fat loss goal, phase 2 is my muscle building goal. I am stronger, leaner and healthier than I have ever been in my life and I want you to see that I am living proof that it is doable and it is attainable by all of you if you do the same. Yes you are going to have to sweat, yes you will have to work hard and yes the results are worth every bit of it. So please follow in my footsteps and learn the healthy way and trust your body and that you need to feed to succeed. I am not a freak of nature I eat back almost every exercise cal and I continue to shed fat easily every single week with ZERO plateaus. Just over 100 days in and I have never had one single week without fat loss. You can do the same, please please learn to love yourself, learn to trust good healthy food, and learn that you are worth every single minute of the journey.
