sports bra for high impact sports - good news!
If you think they don't make a sports bra that actually keeps the girls still when you run, I have great news. They do! My misconception: because Target, Kohls and even Dicks sports bras don't really work very well or are awkward, despite the cost, nobody will. I bought one yesterday at a specialized running store. It was…

logging exercise - barre class
Does anyone have thoughts on how to log this class - kind of like pilates, I guess? I don't usually take the classes so I don't have any idea ... thanks!!

Runners ... XC to now ...
How many of you have broken - or are trying to beat your XC 5K PR later in life? I could use some encouragement that it's possible ... trying this year (age 43) and a little intimidated by the younger version of myself, lol!! I figure this is my time to do it, if I'm going to. Would love to hear stories, ideas.

complicated migraine sufferers ... do any homeopathic tricks work for you?
Since I had a stroke-like migraine two years ago, I've been taken off all the effective migraine medicine, including my favorite, Relpax. I am stuck with narcotics and Cambia, which is not doing much. I thought I'd see if you guys had any ideas to use in conjunction with those meds - or maybe in place of them. Disclaimer:…

NSV ... set a goal, conquer a goal, repeat
Today, I repeated a mantra: 29, 29, 29 to myself all morning. No longer was I going to be comfortable at ten minute miles (for a 30:00 on the treadmill at lunch). I must push out of the comfort zone to achieve my goals. This concept isn't new to me (lifelong runner), but it's new *again* to me. And ... I crushed it. I knew…

hungry hungry ... will my body adjust?
I've been back on MFP for almost two weeks. I'm a nibble all day long kind of person. I have about 100 calories every few hours, and I run (hard) at noon. I am purposefully staying just at my 1200 or under my 1200+(run calories) so I can lose about 20 pounds to make running less stressful on my knees/hips/back. All that…

TDEE - just learning what this is - using that in conjunction with MFP
A few questions for those in the know ... Can I manually adjust my calorie intake (and all the parsed out numbers for carbs, protein, etc.) so that I don't feel like I'm screwing up every single day because I'm over my limit? My MFP calories (before exercise) are 1200; my TDEE calories are 1900ish (how are exercise…

Glucosamine/Condroiton
With an increase in intensity, I tend to get an aggravated right hip (history of stress fracture) ... how safe is Glucosamine/Condroiton? Do you take it? Any issues/problems to tell me about? Thanks!

stretching ... runners
Someone recently commented "stretch but not too much." I can't find it again to ask for clarification. Does this make sense? Related: how do I know if stretching a tweaked hip is likely to do more damage than good? Thx.

ADD and running ...
I just had an incredible run - set my psyche straight for the rest of the day. I use running for therapy. If you are new to MFP and fitness in general and wondering what exercise will work for you, give running a try (even if your gym teacher made you run laps in gym and you hated it) ... because if it works for you (it…

runners: mid-back weakness
I find the older I get that where I feel my runs the most (all day - not during the run) is in my mid-back. When I train for a longer race, it is almost prohibitive. I plank every day and lift weights once a week. But I don't do anything specifically for my back and I guess I should. Could you give me some ideas so I don't…

and if I cut bread completely out of my diet ...
is there any problem with that? I find myself no longer eating bread - not even the hamburger bun, etc. ... and I don't miss it at all. So, what am I losing - fiber I guess. Any other nutrients I should be sure to replace with something else?

out of sugars by 10 a.m.!
Sugar is definitely my downfall. Yogurt - milk - (my) coffee - granola bars - even peanut butter - everything I eat, even when it seems like a healthy choice - is packed with sugar. Would you give me some easy ideas for substituting without blending smoothies and being too extreme. I'm a grab and go kind of eater and I…

if ... then weight statements at the end of each day
These are silly and arbitrary, right? I'll never weigh 131 pounds again, lol (that one makes me laugh) ... and because I'm lifting and generally pretty solid, I can't imagine I'll lose weight as rapidly as they suggest I will, only due to my caloric intake and daily exercise. Should I just ignore these statements…

Q about runner's knees and yoga ...
I am creaky and stiff in my knees from years of running ... I am quite flexible elsewhere, but I'm finding that now I'm starting up with yoga, some of the cross-legged poses and the pigeon pose (and probably others), my knees are what's holding me back. I look a bit ridiculous, actually, because they don't lay flat like…

protein powder ... eek! making a change.
I just did the monthly Wal-Mart grocery store trip and had my huge protein deficit on my mind. I bought three kinds of cereal, my Clif bars and ... the reason for my post ... protein powder. I felt a little silly buying EAS soy protein, because I'm certainly no body builder, but I consume about 20 of my 80 protein grams…

even when you blow it ...
I dreaded logging in food for the rest of my night and just sat down to do it this morning. My evening was one giant ball of stress and I had no time to exercise (so no extra calories for me!), and my hand went straight into the kids' Cheez-it box while I made comfort food - chicken fettucine alfredo - and drank a beer.…

deleting entries?

return to daily running, lifting = i hate my scale
I've started back faithfully running and lifting, and I feel great. Tell me to keep running and ignore my scale for another week, please. I've had a good calorie deficit all week, and I don't want to check in because I'm *heavier* than I was last week. Grr ...

yoga and running
I just took my first yoga class. I didn't understand much of what the leader (yogi?) was saying, of course, but it was a great stretch and I have promised myself I would give it a try once a week for a few months as a supplement to my running. Runners: if you also do yoga, how often do you do it? Do you run the same day…

runner on a plateau
Hi :) I'm excited to try something new. I love that it keeps track of carbs, sugar and sodium. I am usually in the hole for sugar by 10 a.m., however, lol ... so I guess that's a wake up call. I'm trying to lose 15 pounds, mostly to make my running easier on my joints and my times faster. I'm in my 40s so everything is…
