Unplanned Eating/Borderline Binge
How do you feel, what do you tell yourself when you've eaten whatever you perceive as 'too much'? It's all too easy to want to throw in the towel or shame oneself, but how unproductive and unkind to do so to oneself. I'll say ahead of time I am very aware of how to avoid binges and not looking for advice in those regards.…

$30, 9 days, empty fridge
Alright, you savvy MFP's. I have $30, 9 days til payday, and an empty fridge but for about a pound of chicken and bag of brown rice. Please share all your frugal meal suggestions for this broke little dieter trying to stay on the fed and healthy path. I intend to buy skim milk, bananas, some tuna, and eggs. What else might…

Not a success story, but a confident day.
I wore a crop top the other day! Me! Honestly, I thought only super skinny women got away with them or the curvy, confident ladies. Me? I'm just average. Got some fat, but not enough to be buxom. I'm slenderish, but not waifish. F%*#s given? None. My success for this day is having a day where I appreciated my form. Not the…

Back to the Basics...
Does anyone know of a reliable calculator to use? I'm 27, 5'8" and currently weigh 153 lbs. I would like to get back to 135. I'm not always sure what my daily exercise level will be so I plugged sedentary into MFP and to lose a pound a week it suggests 1,320 calories. However, I know that's not even my BMR. So I'm finding…

Calling all 5'8" 150-160 lbs women
I want to see your body. That came out weird. I'm curious what other women with similar stats to mine look like in shape. If you're at your goal, post! If you're in between, post! I want to see other bodies similar to mine in all their beauty, flaws, everything. (Feel free to share what your workout regimen looks like). I…

Calories in Hand Roll
I bought a Salmon Hand Roll at Whole Foods and am having trouble figuring out the caloric content of it. It contains: salmon, white rice, cucumber, and is wrapped in seaweed. There are no additional ingredients. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you!

How do you negate a mistake or binge?
So you go over your calories, right? Or maybe, you just completely go to town on your entire pantry. Yes, you can workout and bank to help negate it, but how do you negate it mentally? How do you forgive yourself? I suppose what I'm wondering here, more specifically, is what's the next step in processing what you've done…

What's Your Mantra?
You know...the one that pushes you for that last mile, the one that helps you resist those damn Girl Scouts, the one that makes you feel empowered. Mine is simple..."Conquer". Go on, share. What motivates you from within?

I have decided not to lose weight...
Truth be told, at 5'9" and 145 lbs, I don't really have much to lose. I made up a goal of ten pounds to motivate me to do the healthy things associated with weight loss: working out, eating well, getting proper sleep and taking my vitamins. Then I somehow allowed the not changing number on the scale bother me. I let it get…

Any difference? Scale frustrations...
I understand change takes time. I know to take my measurements, as the scale doesn't always reflect. I know I will be purchasing a food scale this weekend. I'm feeling a bit frustrated because the scale reflects no changes. I've been running and doing some weights for a month now, eating between 1550-1800 calories a day. I…

Small Victory
I'll preface with this: until two weeks ago I had spent the last eight months completely inactive workout wise, in major endo pain and on a fair share of pain killers. I am one week off Percocet (that was it's own hell) and two weeks into my workout routine. After not running for three years I just finished my first…

Protein Powders
I've noticed I am struggling to get my protein in, despite eating eggs/lean chicken/veggie meats in daily. I was wondering what the benefits would be to using a protein powder supplement? Would that allot me a few extra calories to enjoy more brown rice or good complex carbs? Would excess protein be unnecessary since I'm…

Rest days, necessary?
I'm wondering how necessary rest days are. I've gone to the gym about ten days in a row and my body feels fine. I'm sore, naturally, and take Epsom salt baths and stretch when running leaves my muscles tight. However, on the days I had planned to have as rest days I decided to just do a 30 min 4.0 brisk walk instead. I…

Lazy or Self-Accepting?
Hi all. I'm posting because unbiased feedback would be appreciated. I started losing weight and working out this last January. In the months since then I have lost 25 lbs. I am 5'9" , started at 174 and am at 149 lbs. I am 26. My original goal was 140 (with thoughts of going lower), but as I made my way to 150, truth be…

Ladies 5'8-9"
I'm trying to decide if I want to lose more weight or not. I'm 5'9" and sit between 149-153. It would be helpful to see pictures of women around this height, preferably not exceeding to 5'10", and at all your different weights. Do you have pictures of you at 190? How about 135? Please share. I'm curious to get an idea for…

NSV...much better
My NSV today was taking a photo and finally not seeing myself as "chubby" or "lumpy". I saw this picture I took and saw a slender person. I haven't seen myself in this light for years. Even more importantly, I recognize myself again! That feels better than any number on the scale. :) Please excuse the size and fact that…

It's Time to Get Serious About Americuh!
Not really. It's time to get serious about weight lifting. I've been fooling around fairly well on the machines for the last two months, but feel like I am not achieving the results I want. Surely, this is because I have ZERO idea what I'm actually doing. I am stale in my exercise routine and ready to get STRONG. Not just…

Counting Calorie Deficit
I've noticed some people count their calorie deficit. Why do they do this? How do you do this? Would I simply find out the caloric intake to maintain and subtract from it what I actually eat in calories? And, to double check: is it 2500 or 3500 calories, generally, equal to a pound of loss/gain? Thanks all!

Wait...what?
Seeing as I put my activity level at 'fairly active' on MFP, do I need to include my exercise done while doing my job? (I walk dogs as my PT job). My pedometer says I walked 2 miles. I don't want to accidentally credit myself for what's already being accounted for and eat over my calories. Thanks all!

My Half Way Mark- 16 lbs
Hi all! My journey isn't one of great proportions and is only half way complete. However, I have achieved my goal of gaining back my confidence and feeling comfortable in my skin again. I am 5'9" and got up to 174 lbs (having gained 40 lbs) from drinking. I had a problem and it took its' toll on many, many of things, but…

Motivate me!
I'm calling out for some motivation friends. Haven't worked out in days due in part to ovarian pains and in part lack of interest. I'm a dog walker, so getting about a solid hour of walking in today, but could use some motivation getting my tush to the gym for some weights. I've taken it easy for days (still walking/…

What Do You Run/Workout To?
I've decided to challenge myself and begin running again tomorrow. I know that if my music, however, is not spot on at pumping me up...I lag, I quit, I lose motivation. What's on your iPod? I'm open to lots of music, so please share. Thanks!

Small Victory!
So, I've been kind of at what I thought was a plateau for the last five weeks. Despite good eating (I adhere to following intuitive eating) the scale moved roughly 2 lbs, but I tried to keep in mind I was doing more weight lifting and to ignore the scale. Despite that 2 lbs wasn't quite rewarding considering I've been…

Looking For Some Advice/Wisdom
I have a very unhealthy past with disordered eating and over exercising. Due to this fact, I chose not to count calories, but practice portion control and take it healthy food 85% of the time. I have noticed some unhealthy habits with the scale coming back up (multiple weigh ins a day), so I am looking to use other methods…

A Reminder For Myself and All of You...
Today, I logged on to MFP looking for motivation. I found it, yes, upon lurking in the many "Before and After" threads and saw it in the support that's abundant here from one patron to another. But, it wasn't the motivation or THING I was looking for today. Today, I needed a message and found it within... . This isn't…

Indoor Weight Workout Videos
Here's the scoop: I'm in Colorado, not a native and NOT digging this cold weather that will last until April. The gym is far and frankly, I enjoy my outdoor workouts. So, for now, what are some websites or videos you would suggest I can do to work on trimming and strengthening at home? I have the space, a warm heater and…

Have any of you connected with people in your area? I'd like to find a friendly, motivated female in my area, but don't know how to go about arranging that. Suggestions? Think it's a safe idea?

Had A Conniption
I seem to be forgetting this morning, as I get on the scale that reads three pounds higher than yesterday, what causes fluctuation. Can you remind me please? I've spent the last hour having a self-pitying conniption of epic proportions. I realize I've only just began and should expect change...just need some logic talked…

Not enough carbs/ Too much protein
I've been noticing in my tracking that I never get nearly enough of my recommended carbs and generally go over some in protein. What I'm wondering is if this is problematic in some way? I still meet my 1200 calorie goal, but avoid calorie heavy breads and such. I much prefer lean meats to fill up on. Should I adjust my…

Mantras
