Small Victory

I'll preface with this: until two weeks ago I had spent the last eight months completely inactive workout wise, in major endo pain and on a fair share of pain killers.

I am one week off Percocet (that was it's own hell) and two weeks into my workout routine. After not running for three years I just finished my first straight mile. (I've been doing a beginners running schedule and struggling to get past 4 minutes straight). Given it was only at 5.4 mph, but I'm proud. Maybe this small victory feels tied to bigger victories.

I'm not sure, but man did it feel good to finish. All I find myself wanting to do these days is practice, so that one day soon I can take off and run my little heart out. :)

Thanks for letting me share.

Great work. That first mile is the same as running a marathon. So now you aim for 2. After that you can think about 3. Don't worry about speed. That will come later.

Thank you for the kind words and advice. It was by bringing my speed down that I was able to go longer. Distance over speed is an effective approach for starters, definitely.

Awesome job! I hate cardio and have been more of a p90x/ lifter type. Been working on the running aspect and it really does get easier each time you step on there. Keep it up!

Having suffered with endo I know how demoralising it can be when the pain is so bad that you aspire to standing up straight never mind starting to run, congrats for being in remission, getting off your meds (been there too) and getting moving.
