Introductions
Hi! I figured it would be neat if we could introduce ourselves and what sorority (and chapter) we're from. It's always so cool to meet sisters, not just from your own organization but from others as well! I'm an Alpha Phi, initiated 3/2001 into the Theta Zeta chapter at Florida Institute of Technology.

Introductions
I'm Lyndsay. :) I am lactose intolerant, allergic to coconut and red food dye, and am possibly gluten sensitive (I was on a pretty much gluten-free diet for 6 months last year and had NO digestive problems - which all came back when I ate "normal"). A range of food allergies runs in my family (strawberries, shellfish, egg…

Change In Daily Activity Level For One Day
Ok, looking for some input. I have my activity level set as sedentary since most of the day at work I am sitting at a desk. However, tomorrow I will be out walking a site collecting some readings and carrying about 15 pounds worth of equipment. Would it be a good idea to wear my HRM to see what I burn while walking? It…

Koru Apples
The Whole Foods I went into before July 4th had a limited supply of apples. These were new so I figured I'd try them. I am now addicted. They are the perfect combination of sweet apple with a firm and not gritty texture. If only they didn't have to be imported.…

11-year old mother
Here's the story: http://www.wjla.com/articles/2013/07/pregnant-11-year-old-in-chile-speaks-out-91196.html And....go. She's 11, for crying out loud, and was raped. How is that ok? Not to mention she has no where near the ability or mental awareness to provide for another living being. SHE'S 11!!!!!

Bike Racks for Apartment
My fiance and I both have bikes (I have a mountain bike and he has a road bike) and we are looking for a good yet inexpensive bike rack that can hold both our bikes and be kind of unobtrusive. (He was this brilliant plan to make wooden ones with bookshelves on top. ) Any recommendations?

Are any of you planning a daytime wedding? Because I loved the venue so much and I wanted it Columbus Day weekend, I am getting married on a Sunday morning. Not ideal, but for some reason, I love the idea of starting the day off with a wedding. Plus, I am IN LOVE with a brunch wedding reception, complete with an omelette…

Low/No Impact Exercise Suggestions
Hi all! I am currently in an incredibly sexy boot for at least two weeks with a possible tear in a foot ligament, but don't want to slack off. What low/no impact exercise could I do? I'm planning on doing some upper body toning, but I didn't know if that's all I could do. Thanks!!!

Catering
So my fiance and I are having disagreements over what we want for catering. He wants something cheap while I think we need something a little nicer, especially if we have it at the really nice place we hope to look at this weekend. I think the words he used were "I don't want something pretentious.". :grumble: Anyone…

Recruitment Results!
I thought it would be neat for us to have a place to post recruitment results that we hear about so we can maybe find other sisters here on MFP. What I post is what was listed on Facebook, so it's definitely not all of the numbers. Anyone know where we can get more information? Iota Nu (Kentucky) - 67 new members (exceeded…

Favorite 80's Movie?
So this morning as I was eating breakfast and was supposed to be getting ready for work, I was browsing through the movie channels and stumbled upon one of my favorite movies of all time...an 80s movie that I don't think many people have heard of. Secret of My Success Luckily for me, it was almost over. Otherwise I would…

Family Members
I think it would be cool to see what the full range of Panhellenic and other sorority presence is here. If you have a mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, niece, etc. that is in a sorority, list it! My grandmother is a Sigma Kappa from Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY. My younger sister is a Phi Mu from…

Perseid Meteor Shower
Well, folks, it's here! It looks like the peak intensity will be August 11/12, but excellent viewing will also occur August 10/11 (TONIGHT!!!!) and August 12/13. Is anyone else planning on viewing the shower? I think I talked my BF into going on the 12/13 since he doesn't get back until the 12th. And yes, I will geek out…

Sleep Deprivation and Food
I know there's probably tons of topics about this on here, but several new studies came out showing why it is important to get 7-8 hours of good sleep a night. The article link is below. http://thechart.blogs.cnn.com/2012/06/10/sleepy-brains-drawn-to-junk-food/?hpt=hp_bn12 I know when I don't get a good night's sleep, I…

Hahaha...11/11/11. Anyway, I made this last night (I got the recipe from Skinnytaste.com and altered it a bit for a shellfish allergy...and it ended up being milk-free). Enjoy! Thai Chicken and Pineapple Stir Fry 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes 2 Tbsp tamari (can also use soy sauce) 4 Tbsp…

Holiday Foods
Since Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) is fast approaching, I wanted to see if there were foods that everyone "substitutes" in for the "traditional" fare (i.e. stuffing, casseroles, meats, etc.). Feel free to share recipes! For my house, in the past we've made oyster casserole. I tried making it last year, but I was the only one…
