I'd really love some new friends for support!
I joined a couple of years ago and lost three stone (42 pounds) but over the past year half of that has crept back on, and I'm not happy about it. Overall, I want to lose 50 pounds. I'm an advocate of slow, sensible caloric deficit with exercise on top. I've lost a lot of the amazing support network on here over that time…

Exhaustion after exercise - ideas?
I keep getting totally whacked out after exercise and having to curl up in bed. Today I had a banana and a soft pretzel and lots of water for breakfast before doing a two hour cycle, then had a break, and then did Body Combat. I'm nowhere near as bad as the week I forgot to hydrate/eat pre swimming etc but I'd still like…

Fat-positive people, how do you feel about your changing body?
I'm interested to know those of us losing weight feel psychologically about being plus-size but shrinking and how that fits into their experience of the fat-positive/plus size community? I've lost three stone in the past year with loads more to go and my body is really changing and I find myself not quite feeling like I…

Am having a bit of a blip... bit of motivation/support?
I've had a poor few weeks due to illness and falling back into bad calorific amount habits and have gone up from 85kg to 86.9 (187-191) through eating ridiculous amounts and not doing any exercise. I could really do with some motivation. I made a comparison photo to try and remind myself of the progress I've made so far…

NSV: Dropping a 'dress' size
I must have pissed off the changing room people something chronic today - I went in with 18s, all of which were gapey, tried on a dress in a 16, which was too big, tops in 16s were too big, trousers finally fit in 16 (which I can't remember being my whole adult life!). Back and forth... :D

Tuna steak and potatoes!
Just had the nicest dinner. Tuna steak with wholegrain mustard, salt and pepper cooked in the oven at 180 for 6 mins, with courgette and crushed baby potatoes mixed with margarine. Really, really scrummy and less than 400 calories!

Just got a new lifting workout - feedback?
I am not very strong and have weak back/neck muscles, so have always been afraid of doing a lifting programme. I've focused on cardio and Pilates/yoga/Body Balance to date. However, as I want to improve my upper body strength and help my injuries, I've decided to bite the bullet and one of the trainers at the gym has…

I think I need a new strategy...
I foolishly weighed myself tonight (yes, I know it's halfway through the week, the evening and I'm on prescription pills that are making me, ahem, retain, as it were) and I'm STILL hovering at around 88.3kg, which basically means I haven't lost anything in like three weeks. I probably need to lower my calorie intake,…

Ow, my hamstrings...
I've been doing a lot more cycling since it's the holidays and my hamstrings are going mental - really really tight and achy. I did a 23 mile cycle last week and they've been panging since then, I've tried stretching before/after but they're not improving much if at all! Any top tips? Should I lay off the cycling for a…

Cycling help, please!
So I've started getting back into cycling, and this weekend I did upwards of 20 miles on a river cycle. I try to use the correct posture (either sitting up straight or leaning forward from the hips) and while I don't cycle during the week I have been trying to get out and about on my bike most weekends, even though…

Looking for new enthusiastic friends to keep me accountable!
I'm 33 pounds into this mutha (well, 38 if you count what came before MFP) and I'm currently pretty on it, but I'd love some new friends to keep me g-ed up and enthusiastic as I hit the middle straight (got 50 pounds to go in good time!). I don't care who you are, where you're from, what you're trying to lose or gain or…

Hit 13'13 today!
I don't remember being below 14 stone in my adult life and today I managed it. This is huge for me. Next step is to put some distance between me and 14 stone! To celebrate, I went for a 12 mile bike ride :D At the start of the year I was 16'7, my highest weight ever, and it didn't feel good. I've had a tough year with…

A bit worried
I lost 3 pounds this week. It's making me a little nervous, especially since I'm on my period, which normally bloats me, and because I thought I'd eaten over my allowance this week, and haven't done much exercise. I've also been suffering from something like suspected oesophagitis for six weeks or so, and am on pills to…

22 pounds down so far
Not much in the grand scheme of things but my best friend says there's definitely a difference! Sorry about the filthy mirror, I just cleaned it...
-
*eye roll*
I was in the supermarket yesterday at the fish counter and I was talking to the guy behind it about how my doctor had put me on a soft diet (because I have oesophagitis that's been going on for weeks and weeks, not because he thinks it'll make me lose weight!). The man standing next to me starts telling me that I should…

Pasta bake
Creamy Mushroom Sauce Rollini Pasta Sesame oil Sliced Roast Chicken Mature Cheddar Cheese Courgettes Semi Skimmed Milk - Milk Water So this is something I made last night that I've split and brought for work lunches. It's not exactly 'low cal' but it's really nice. Take one jar of mushroom sauce (I know, but I'm ill and…

Any Londoners here?
Looking for more people to help motivate me and vice versa, as well as potential buddies for fun exercise like swimming on the Heath or a river walk in the summer :) I'm 29, from London, writer of various kinds, got a lot to lose but really feel like this community is going to be the thing that makes me actually commit to…

Suffering from gastritis/oesophagitis
Hoping for some guidance - having been feeling awful for days, went to doc and was diagnosed with the above, meaning my oesophagus lining is inflamed and leaking acid. I have been given two weeks worth of pills but am struggling with eating at the moment because everything seems to make me feel awful. In the wake of some…

Suspected shin splint...
So in my quest to get fit I've started walking more - I wasn't walking at all previously, just to the train station and back for five minutes a pop. I have been walking to and from work, a walk of 10/15 minutes, and a 40 minute walk at lunchtime most days. Unfortunately, even though I've been doing this in trainers with…

Not seeing a change?
It's been forty days and I've lost 10lbs (well, we'll see what the scales say tomorrow). I'm so pleased with that, but I took photos at the start (those on my profile) and I just took a couple tonight to see and it doesn't look any different, especially from the side. I can feel it and see some flattening around the edges…

I might have a fat *kitten*, but...
You know, man looking down at his charging (?!) phone when he cycles, barely avoiding a collision with me, when I say 'both hands on the bike!', and when you retort by telling me, amongst other things, to 'shut your fat *kitten*', it does hurt, because my weight is obviously an easy target, but at least my bottom isn't…

Cheesecake
I bought a slice of strawberry cheesecake earlier in the week and am keen to eat it, but want to fit it into my day. How do you guys work out calories for this kind of stuff? It sounds like cheesecake can vary wildly from 350 calories up to 750, or even 1100 if you're in America... what do you judge it by and how do you…

Snacking after midnight
I just had some bread and hummus - was lying in bed and suddenly felt hungry having not eaten since half 4 that afternoon, so caved and had something. Would you add that to the previous day's diary or today's?

Kale
I can't remember who asked about kale, but in response, I toast it under the grill for a few minutes and then eat as is, instead of crisps. It's crispy and salty enough for me without anything else added. But if you wanted to, you could absolutely add salt, or use oil (I cook with sesame). Hope that helps!

Disappointed
I started on here about three weeks ago. I weighed in last week and had lost three pounds. Then this week, and I've lost two. And I know this is good and more than my profile is set up for me to lose per week, and also that I injured myself on Monday which has impacted my whole week, went out for dinner on Tuesday etc, but…

Not sure how to calculate these!
Thinking about going here for Sunday roast tomorrow (menu is on the link): http://www.thedukeofyork.com/surbiton/?page_id=292 And meeting up with friends for dinner here: http://www.stein-s.com/kingston/menu.php where I would have the stew or the Obatzda mit Brezel. Obviously I can't calculate the calories easily. I'm…

Zumba :/
So I tried Zumba last night, and while it was fun, I don't think it's for me. I recovered from severe whiplash and my sacrum and neck are still funny (muscular stuff) and I guess not strong enough. So all the bouncing around was jolting them, and though hopefully it'll settle, my sacrum in particular feels very achy today.…
