Not seeing a change?

It's been forty days and I've lost 10lbs (well, we'll see what the scales say tomorrow). I'm so pleased with that, but I took photos at the start (those on my profile) and I just took a couple tonight to see and it doesn't look any different, especially from the side. I can feel it and see some flattening around the edges when I'm, er, less clothed, but is it normal not to see it this early?

It's totally normal, especially if you have a lot to lose. I've lost around 10 pounds as well and haven't really started seeing big differences yet. When I've lost weight in the past it was like I woke up one morning and was like "holy crap I got smaller." I think that was probably around the 15 to 20 pounds down mark. Just don't get discouraged and keep at it! The hard work will pay off with time!0

Thank you for the encouragement After the loss, I probably have about 75 to go. It sounds like we're in a similar place - mind if I add you?
Embarrassingly, this is the first time I've actively lost weight (the other times have been due to illness or serious injury), nothing else has ever been sustainable.
I'm fitting into trousers I got too fat for last year, and other tops and bottoms are getting baggy, so that's good, but there's no real physical evidence yet, as you say. I suppose if you want to do it sensibly, that's pretty normal.0
