Cheesecake

I bought a slice of strawberry cheesecake earlier in the week and am keen to eat it, but want to fit it into my day. How do you guys work out calories for this kind of stuff? It sounds like cheesecake can vary wildly from 350 calories up to 750, or even 1100 if you're in America... what do you judge it by and how do you guesstimate?

Without knowing any details. your guess is as good as any.

Well, weigh it on a scale, then try to find something in the database that looks comparable. Look for a few different entries, and go for the one that looks to be in the middle. Go by weight, not by serving size.

I hadn't thought about weight - thank you, will do :)

Neanderthin - it's from a deli, it's a biscuit base with some cream-esque stuff in the middle and an almost jelly/jam like texture up top. It's homemade not store bought so hopefully won't have any nasties in :)

Just wondering: Do you weigh your other foods as well? Looking at your diary, it seems that all the weights for the entries are nice round numbers.

Yes, mostly - I think I prefer the round numbers! I don't weigh everything but as I've been pre-preparing lunches I have been pre-weighing before cooking. I do occasionally guesstimate with vegetables, but they're so low calorie it barely makes a difference. There have been a couple of nights out this week where I've had to full on guess, though!

Depends on the slice of cheesecake really.
