Tomorrow is the 4th of July and I am running the Peachtree Road Race in downtown Atlanta. Forecast shows horrendous thunderstorms, and oddly enough, I am SUPER excited!! What is your race/day like?

Sharp pain in side of lower buttocks
I have recently started running again about 2 weeks ago after a 3 month hiatus. I am getting a pain in the lower side of my buttocks around mile 2 and it's rather dull, so I 'run through it.' When I stop running (usually after 3.5-- 4 miles) and walk to cool down, the pain greatly increases and I feel it every single step.…

Shred, run and a 10k
I have been such a slacker for the last 3 months. Quit running, gained 20 pounds, ect... To motivate myself to get back on the bandwagon, I am signed up for a 10k on 3/10. I started running again this week and am up to 3 miles so far, so I feel good about the 10k. My question is, I really want to start 30 day shred. My…

Half marathon training
I want to train for a half marathon and like Hal Higdons program. I am currently up to 6.2 miles for my longest run and usually run no less than 4.5. My question is where do I pick up my training? I currently am running 3 days a week and doing no other exercise. By this programs I am about halfway through according to…

What kind of runner am I?
I know you can go and get your 'gait' tested and foot analyzed and that was certainly the direction I was headed in and knew I was going to spend upwards of $100+ I cannot due that now due to some financial constraints, but need new running shoes badly. The outside of my heels are completely worn down....an half inch to…

What stores?
I have way too many miles on my current sneakers. The outside heels have absolutely NO tread left and are almost 1/2 or more difference from the other side of the heel. I am not certain what kind of runner that means I am, but know I need to be 'analyzed'. Where do I go...any suggestions at all?

It just goes to show you
I have been steadily losing weight with cardio. I truly know that to continue I need to add strength/cross training. When I first started I used to do the Biggest Loser on the Kinect and was seriously 'sore' for 2-3 days afterwards. I would do between 90-120 minutes. It goes by SO fast!! But I started to run and loved it…

Conditioning your lungs to cold air?
Is there such a thing? The temperature has dropped rapidly here in the last 2 weeks. I have gone from running in the mid 90's to the low 50's yesterday. I have been running since March and have yet to run in this colder weather. I am having a hard time, particularly with breathing. I ran 6.5 miles yesterday and it was a…

Running on Empty?
I normally run in the mornings on an empty stomach. I don't hydrate or eat anything on my runs. I am currently up to 9 miles but seem to be stuck. I have read lots of posts on here about re-fueling after 3-4 miles, or one hourish. What do you guys do? And if you do hydrate/snack...when and how often?

Oh Oh, my second toe!
My second toe is longer than my big toe. Never an issue with running so far until now. I ran an 8 mile course last Wednesday that had a very very steep .66 incline. No worries ascending as I had to walk it, but I ran back down it on the way back. My feet were killing me the entire way, but I noticed my 2nd toe (only on…

Perplexed about BMR and daily caloric intake
I was reading a thread yesterday about all of this. I did my BMR on here and it said 1432. MFP has me at 1200. I am 5'5 and at 168 pounds. I sit most of the day at work, but am currently running about 25 miles a week. My weight loss has been about 5 pounds a month and I am ok with that as I go over my daily calories 5 days…

What magazines?
My birthday is coming up and I plan to ask for Magazine subscriptions....I am a runner and still have about 30 pounds to lose. I know I want Runners World, but what else do you get or suggest?

Homemade cornbread is the devil
I went to my dad's last week up in the mountains of NC. Let's just say it is a totally different way of life with dinner coming from the garden and fried anything. Not complaining as I can turn down pretty much anything now.....EXCEPT the stinkin homemade cornbread!! First I had a sliver and then just could not stop myself…

What do you wear under?...ladies only
HI all. I have done a search on this topic and not found too much info. I want to know what you wear as far as underclothes to run in? I get the whole 'commando' thing and that would be fine if I was wearing the skin tight underarmour, but I don't. I wear dri fit jogging pants that are somewhat loose until I get soaking…

Spec-tac-u-lar Rain Running!
Ran in the rain and was surprised how many other runners were out there. It was a pretty steady downpour and I was drenched within 10 min even though my trail is mostlly shaded with trees! It was fabulous and I felt so accomplished! NOt to mention I am used to running in the 90 degree range, so what a nice cooooool change!…

Do you wash running sneakers?
I have had my sneakers for about 3 months and only wear them to run on paved trails. However they are getting super dirty and there is no 'white' left anywhere on them. I want to throw them in the washer but am afraid they will fall apart or won't 'feel' the same anymore. I don't know if it matters the brand, but they are…

Do you program your pedometer or.....
I am wondering do you program your steps in the pedometer or just use it out of the box? I read the instructions, but am not that digitally apt, so did not do it. I ran tonight with it and was blown away that I only did 3.5 miles. I would have thought I was over 4 easily? Does it make a difference? I was not too inspired…

One Hour Runner 4 days a week anyone?
I just started One Hour Runner this week....or sort of I should say. It's in the mid 90's here by early afternoon, so anytime I can run before 10am I jump on it. For me that is running on Mon, Wed and Thurs mornings. ....which debunks the every other day theory on the program. I also really really want to do it 4 days a…

what to do in between running days on B?
I am getting started on bridge to 10K and noticed it said to only do workouts 3 times a week every other day. I have been running at least 4 days a week and sometimes 5. I normally log in between 3-4 miles each time. I am at a loss of what to do on the days off in between. I really like The Biggest Loser workout but am…

ran my first 5k today
Three months ago, I decided to change my life. First I began to walk and gradually started to run. Then I began to eat healthy....kind of a Bill Phillips approach to eating small meals all day. THEN I found this website about 3 weeks ago and have become addicted to logging in my food and exercise and analyzing my progress.…
