I went to my dad's last week up in the mountains of NC. Let's just say it is a totally different way of life with dinner coming from the garden and fried anything.
Not complaining as I can turn down pretty much anything now.....EXCEPT the stinkin homemade cornbread!! First I had a sliver and then just could not stop myself until 'piggy' had 3 enormous pieces. OMG>>>> with the fresh churned butter no less!!! Yeah, that's some carbs for you.... Oh, and i drank it with a beer:)
Back to normal now, but sure am thinking that is my reward meal now!

Been there, done that...except in addition to the butter I want maple syrup on mine!

Oh well, I'm not living the rest of my life without cornbread so ever once in awhile it's all good.

Mmm, I just made cornbread yesterday. Oh my gosh, I agree with you! It's tough to resist. I made a pan, cut it into 9 portions and stuck 8 of them in the freezer. Otherwise I would be snacking on that all day. I don't care about the carbs, but I don't want the extra calories if I don't need them.

My 19 year son is a baker's apprentise and brings home fresh breads (of all kinds...) and looks at me with his puss in boot eyes and asks do I want to try some ...cos he MADE it....

Who can say no to that.....I just count it in...know it wont last forever...and enjoy!!! (But I have stopped putting on the butter

    All the best...:flowerforyou:
