is this exercise regime enough to generally tone?
Hi there everyone I am very confused about the whole concept of strength training. I have read somewhere that strength training is strictly weights and then I have read elsewhere that doing calisthenics is classed as strength training as well? I tend to do a lot of cycling (as a hobbie) and this has toned me a lot but…

I don't want to lose anymore weight...
Morning :) I exercise regularly and I eat at my maintenance calories daily, eat back some of my exercise calories and often treat myself at weekends. Is excess skin removal surgery selfish?
I lost 100 pounds and have been maintaining my weight loss for 3 years. Unfortunately, due to all the excess skin I have, I still feel fat. I know I will never be able to move on and be happy with my body until I have surgery to remove the skin. I had a consultation with a plastic surgeon, who confirmed what I was never…

Finding the right number
I just completed my first 5 weeks of maintenance. I continued to lose for the first three weeks, then it seemed to level out until last week when my weight started to climb again. I had increased my calories so that my average was within 100 calories of MFP recommendations by the end, with my average for the 5 weeks being…

History of laxative abuse/ water intake
Hi! I've noticed my weight fluctuates ALOT. One day it will be on the "low end" another day on the "high end." I used to be maintaining on 1850-2000 bit cut back to 1700-1800 in hopes to fix the fluctuations... no such luck. Now I am confused as to what my body's maintenance level is. I do have a history of laxative abuse…

Over 60 - what do you do to stay in shape?
I was so impressed with the over 40's thread in this area, that I was keen to know how much exercise is too much to maintain goal weight? I'm 62. Sounds like we all love working out and keeping in shape. I started using hand weights 9 months ago and this strength training has cured my early signs of arthritis.

Maintenance
Hello, Some people asked me how my maintenance is going. So far, so good. So far over 3 weeks and doing great. I was worried as I heard that it was worse than the actual losing, but so far for me, I have not found that to be true. I guess alot is because I really did not change much once I got to maintenance. I eat…

Estimating dinner calories: Share your tips!
I've been cooking a lot from Angela Nyugen's Asian Tofu (http://www.amazon.com/Asian-Tofu-Discover-Best-Make/dp/1607740257 - these are asian, not 'western', preparations, so these recipes are not vegetarian/vegan for the most part). A lot of the meat and tofu is sliced thinly and cooked in broths and stocks, so it's…

Please help me maintain without counting cals!
I'm desperate here. OK, so, I am the worst at intuitive eating. I'm extremely dependent on external cues (cnting calories, meal times) to know when/how much to eat. To give an example: one time, I accidentally logged extra calories that I didn't eat, so I thought I ate 1200 cals when I only ate 600 cals -- and I didn't…

Eating my maintenance calories, carbs, and gaining weight
A naturopathic gastroenterologist told me that my constant fatigue was partially due to hypoglycemia, which she believes was caused by following a Wheat Belly diet (while counting calories) while I was losing weight. Following her recommendations, I've reintroduced starchy vegetables, complex-carb grains, legumes, and…

Reached target weight, when should I go into maintenance?
I reached my target weight about a month ago but wondered how long I should wait before going into maintenance. I’ve been eating 1,500 calories a day and to maintain I should eat between 1,700 and 1,800. I guess like everyone I’m nervous to be eating more in case I put on weight. I was thinking of a gradual increase but…

Transitioning to maintenance
Hello everyone, I am just about at my goal weight and I'm just wondering what's the best way of transitioning to "maintenance calories"? I am currently eating about 1200-1300 cals a day and MFP says somewhere around 1670 is my daily allowance for maintaining my weight. I am worried if I suddenly start eating at maintenance…

Body recomp/IIFYM
Just started counting macros and increased my calories to 15%< than TDEE. I'm going with 1g protien per LEAN body mass (approx 100 g). I'm finding it hard to get all this protein! Not only is it difficult for me to find protien so high (why so many shakes and protein bars needed?) but it's also making it difficult to eat…

Does there come a point where weight is not the issue
OK last week I posted a topic expressing the issues I have been having psychologically with my weight loss in that I do not see the person that others see when i look in the mirror. I think i just compounded the issue. Today I jumped on the scale just to see what I weigh, and i have not weighed myself in awhile. Why did…
