Lost & Out of control
Ok, so I am the type of person who is very organized and I like to know how to take control of things/situations. Well before my RNY I lost 100 lbs and I was so super in control of everything I ate or did to lose weight. I counted cal. Weighed everything and I KNEW what to do to get my weight down. Well since my RNY I have…

cravings
I'm just wondering if anyone else is having cravings for things they are not supposed to have and if you do how do you manage that feeling? do you give in or do you push the urge away?

Puréed foods stage - what did you eat?
My surgery was May 2nd and I am surprised to say my doctors office wants me to move on to the puréed food stage starting on the 11th. I'm reviewing the materials they provided me with but they are vague, so I wanted to reach out to this great group to see what everyone else did during this stage. Looking for ideas, thanks!

Pouch reset
I'm having a LOT of trouble with the last 5 lbs. that I want to lose to hit my goal. I'm almost 15 months out now and I'm considering doing a pouch reset. I googled and got about a trillion of them, but I'm eyeing this one: http://bariatricfreedom.com/reset-button-the-6-day-pouch-reset/ Anyone have a favorite? One that…

Falling off the wagon after lap band surgery
Hey all, I was banded in September 2012 and things went amazingly. I went from 292 to 213 in about 14 months with my new smaller stomach and increasing my exercise with bootcamp and running. In December of 2013 I changed jobs for a year where bootcamp wasn't as readily accessible, longer hours and more mentally draining. I…

Totally unflattering pics, but wanted to share and thank you guys for your support!
The first pic was the day I came home from surgery on 3/8 @ 236ish#, the middle was on 4/10 @ 216, and the left was 5/10 @ 206. What a difference! Long way to go, but it is awesome to be able to analyze and see yourself how others see you. Taking progress pictures is not my favorite thing, but it is a good thing, and I…

Interesting article on slowed metabolism from The Biggest Loser contestants
Thought you guys may be interested in this article about how some of The Biggest Loser contestants are showing extreme changes to their metabolism after doing the show. This ended up being a topic of discussion at my support group meeting last night. At least one of the contestants gained all of his weight back and then…

What are your MFP goal settings since bariatric surgery?
How are you guys setting your goals in MFP since surgery. My doc told me to work really hard to increase my calories to 800 and to increase protein. When I set the calorie goal at 800, MFP dropped the protein goal to 40. Any suggestions?

Below 300lbs
So..had my surgery (lapband) at the end of March. I lost a good chunk of weight pre-surgery in a combination of meeting the doc's pre-surgery goals and the pre-surgery liver reduction diet. After surgery I still have continued to lose and before I realized it I snuck below the 300lbs mark. I'm a little in shock. I didn't…

Started the pre-op diet!!
I started the 2wk liquid pre-op diet yesterday. I had kind of a rough time with it yesterday, mostly mentally. I thought I had geared myself up for it, but by the end of the day I was hungry and super irritable! Today is much better so far. I hope my husband and kids are tough enough to handle the next couple of weeks,…

7 week follow up appts
Surgeon and nutritionist are thrilled with me so far. Dr asked me to leave a testimonial on the website! I talked about not feeling hungry and the Dr smirked and said he was jealous! He says he shouldn't struggle doing what he does but hunger gets him every time! I told him I would try to keep my bragging about it to a…

Wondering if I made a mistake
I am 3 weeks post op. The first two weeks were pretty awful with pain and nausea. During the first two weeks I lost at least a pound a day but was only getting 200 - 400 calories a day and less than 20g protein. Of course my doctor wasn't pleased with the protein numbers. For the third week, I increased to about 500…

A stall already??
Hey guys! I'm a month out from the RNY. I lost almost 20 lbs in the first two weeks since surgery (45 altogether), but I've been at a stall since then! I'm sticking to my food plan so I don't understand why the weight isn't coming off. I get around 800 calories a day, and don't really have cravings or snacks or anything…

Made it to the losers bench today!

Haven't lost anything since 4/2!
So frustrating! I bounce up a few down a few but I can't get past my current weight. I am religiously counting calories and cannot understand why I don't lose on 800 calories a day, not counting exercise. Ughhhh.... All I seem to do is complain about how hard it is to lose weight. It never comes easy. Sorry to be such a…

Weighing foods...
Good morning! I'm sure the majority of us weigh or measure most everything. I'm wondering if any of you have noticed some inconsistencies in things. I have two examples. 1. Unflavored Quest Protein: The label shows one serving as one scoop (28g). I put the scoop on my scale, tare it, then fill it and it weighs at 36g. That…

How much weight did you lose in the 2 weeks post op
I am only two weeks out from being sleeved. I have not been able to get in all of the protein or vitamins each day. The vitamins are HUGE! I am eating less than 400 calories a day and only get around 20g of protein. I just can't swallow that much without feeling sick. I know everyone is different and a lot depends on good…

opinions please
I started my journey weighing 317 on 3-3-16. As of Monday I weigh 296… so exciting to be under 300. I'm consuming about 900-1100 calories a day eating 3 meals a day, and sometimes it's hard to even hit 900. I walk 12000-22000 steps a day. I'm having a hard time deciding between RNY or the sleeve. I already have a surgery…

Hi everyone
I just joined to get some advice from you all. I have a MFP pal that had surgery in Dec. and she's feeling all alone and really struggling with keeping food down. I told her to join this group so she would have a few more people that know and truly understand what she is going through. I have no solid advice for her. She…

36hrs till a new start
I'm excited, yet freaked out at the same time. This is really happening. I know that probably makes some people roll their eyes, but this whole process has been so fast! I know I'm ready, I'm just scared of the unknown. My family will take me to the hotel tomorrow and then Thursday AM I have to catch a cab to the hospital…

Two Years!
Two years ago today, I first logged on to MFP. I weighed 420 pounds and had just been to the orientation session at my Bariatric Surgery program. The last two years have been quite eventful! I the nearly six months between my orientation and my surgery, I hit the pre-surgery plan hard, losing 100 pounds through a simple…
