  • There are some great low carb forums with awesome advice and recipes. We are doing low carb in our house right now to kick start our weight loss and we are under 40G for 2 weeks. We will eventually get to 200 or so after we kick the sugar cravings !
  • Discouraging but very helpful. I just want to be able to move and do some things that I used to do. I went from playing competitive softball 4 nights a week last spring to basically watching TV every night. I'm a stress and pain eater. I would walk 3 miles for some Doritos lol.
  • Thanks so much for the responses ! Yes my bowels are quite unhappy and it just hit me and I can definitely link the 2. I will add a cup of black coffee in the morning and see if it helps move things in the right direction. Yes I am very sedentary. I work from home and sit in my office chair a majority of the day but my…
  • Trust me, my diary is empty because I had just started tracking my intake again following an epidural block. I did great last year and had an injury which has led me right back to watching my food again :( I do massage therapy, aqua therapy and we have tried the elliptical but with the latest round I have lost most feeling…
  • It's been 4 weeks and I am not unrealistic about it. I am just frustrated I think that I am putting in the work but these stupid health issues are winning !
  • I am not going to bag on her husband, just because we get one side of the story. It's good you got away from that situation though and can now focus on who YOU are and where you want to be. Weight loss is a personal journey and sometimes we have to suck it up and go it alone. I went through the same thing with my now…
  • That food that is good for you can't taste good too. I used to cringe at the thought of another chicken breast or can of tuna. Now I play more with trying new recipes and it has made me enjoy making my meals, not dread them.
  • I always do but find sometimes you have to create a food entry and do the math for yourself. That way there is no question. I drink EAS Carb shakes and it calculates, but then things like nuts don't.
  • I reallllly want to do this but it's so hard. Trying low carb so figured if I kept the drinks small and to spirits instead of beer I would be ok. Not sure I can justify drinking my calories anymore :)
  • I did Atkins back in 2004 and never used the products. I learned how to cook using a forum such as this and eating whole. I lost 96 pounds in a year and became almost anoerxic and obsessive about adding more carbs into my diet. While I didn't crave sugar I did find myself having frequent dizzy spells and feeling gerenally…
  • I do tend to tell myself that the 80/20 rule has to be followed. 80% diet, 20% exercise .. or I would never be motivated to go. I have been stalled for almost 2 months but with the gym I am noticing a huge change in my body shape. To me it's how you not only lose but keep the body informed it has to change when you are…
  • Nerve blocks are where they essentially take a needle to the root nerve in your spinal cord and chemically supress the nerve from sending the pain signals. http://www.spine-health.com/treatment/injections/lumbar-epidural-steroid-injections-low-back-pain-and-sciatica
  • Unfortunately I know your pain all too well. It started with degenerative spinal disease followed by Facet Joint arthritis, so years of constant back issues. A few years back I had both of my hips reconstructed and while in traction they damaged my femoral and psoas nerves which made my back pain even worse. I have been…
  • Wow, I was just saying this to my boyfriend this morning. I have been trying very hard to get under that 140 number for months and just when I think I am going to get there .... boom the scale shows 142, 140.8, 141 .... it gets so frustrating because it's the number I want to see. It makes me angrier at myself knowing I am…
  • I agree with Lauren :) It took me a while to get that through my stubborn head but really your body doesn't know the difference between one calorie and another. I make sure if I do indulge to do exactly what you did. Cut it in half and save the rest for the next day. That and making sure you log every single thing that…

  • Absolutely and usually it's more like 9-6:30 for me. By the time it rolls around to go home I have to run home and cook and clean. For those that say get up and workout early, some of us are parents too ! I get my son up for school at 5:45, make his breakfast and lunch and then get him out the door at 6:20. By that time I…
  • A cheat meal implies you are doing something wrong. Why not just eat normally and splurge your calories into something special one night ? I had to change my thinking a lot from what is considered "cheating" as compared to just eating what I like in moderation.
  • I watched the show "My 600 pound life" and realized even though I may never have my weight get that out of control, it has run my life for far to long. I too got lazy about my food choices and saw it affect my children, my health, my love life .... sometimes you just have to realize it's gonna suck a little (or a lot)…
  • Same as others, for sure the beer. I of course still fit it into my calories but it isn't healthy to drink your dinner every night lol. I also heavily crave crackers, doesn't even have to be a particular kind. I think it's the carbs and salt.
  • Bacardi silver and diet coke :) (no spiced rum)
  • I hate the scale right now and shouldn't put so much stock in it myself, but I am human and a little OCD. I weigh right before I get in the shower daily. It hasn't budged in almost 5 weeks and it starts to really defeat me... on the other hand it keeps me accountable. You really have to do what your brain can handle. Can…
  • I eat wheat thins when I need the carb fix, low sodium. You get 14 for 100'ish calories. My big one is sugar-free jello and I eat some almost daily. Tonight was peach :). It has 10 calories for a cup and pretty much only sodium after that. Kind also makes some great almond bars, forget the exact flavor but it's made with…
  • I keep a bottle of ginger on my microwave for nausea and motion sickness. It has always worked really well for it. May just pop one in the morning for my Osteoarthritis.
  • Have you been tested for gestational diabetes yet ? I know when I had my kids they tested around 24-30 weeks, I gained a bit with my first and he ended up at 9'13" and another at 8'10" being 4 weeks early, so it can happen.
  • "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" otherwise your dead :) Having gone through quite a lot of adversity in my lifetime I know that as long as I pick myself back up and get it together that I will be just fine. I have taught my children that as well. I also like "Work smarter not harder".
  • I make sugar free jello and buy whipping cream. I can make up homemade whipped cream and that gets the craving under control .. easy stuff to make too. Very very little calories !
  • Being healthy isn't always about being overweight. I have seen my skinny friends wheeze walking up the stairs. We both want to be here for many years and watch our children grow up. My bf and I discussed our meals even over chat at work and make sure we keep each other motivated, but he too didn't start until recently when…
  • I changed to light beer but I also changed to a low carb diet. Once I was doing lower carbs it didn't take a whole lot to feel the effects. I agree with others though that if you don't like light beers find a nice stout or dark amber that can be a little thicker and pace yourself. My doctor understood I was human and that…
  • How funny ! I was saying this yesterday when I went with my son's to the rec center. Not only do the foot holds feel father back but my arms are kinda short so I feel like I was leaning forward ! After having both hips reconstructed I don't have many choices for cardio so I can always tell the difference.
