  • I think this is SO important if this WOE is to be sustainable. I started 4 years ago and have lost around 120 pounds without feeling the least bit 'deprived'!! Also a Brit, tea is drunk by the gallon....well not quite, but you get the picture! I drink goat's milk in tea and unsweetened almond milk in coffee. I must drink 6…
  • I itch like hell!!! :o :D
  • Good advice AlexandraCarlyle :) When I began this WOE, I bought LOTS of 'Plus' sized fitness wear because no 'diet' had been sustainable for any length of time before, so why should THIS be different? I'm now 100lbs lighter and have gone through several sizes of fitness wear ( and lots of cash!) on the way!!! Just wear…
  • Strangely enough, I've had this discussion with someone else this morning, so felt I had to jump in here! I've lost 89lbs and STILL buy clothes which are too big. I'm also so used to hiding my body, that I'm loathe to buy 'form fitting' clothes. The thing about this woe is....it works......it's the first time in my life…
  • OK! Pescatarian LC favourite is prawn (shrimp?) and scallops fried in butter and garlic. Once cooked, toss them over either cooked zoodles or Miracle Noodles, not forgetting to pour over your pan juices, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley and a squeeze of lemon.....YUM
  • I'm fundamentally lazy, so I started doing short spells on an exercise bike ( yawn!), then progressed to getting out on a REAL bike.....now I LOVE it!!!! Let's face it, it's an exercise where you're sitting down, so perfect for lazy gals like me!!! It's really made a difference to my weight loss and shape too! :D
  • Ooh I empathise!! I had years of gut problems including ulcers. I was on Omeprozole twice a day.The biggest change for me was giving up alcohol just over 12 months ago. I swear it was sulphides (?) in the ( copious amounts of) wine I was consuming!!!! :o I've since stopped taking the medication. Difficult to do but SO…
  • By UK standards ( :D ) this is fab, as is their recipe database ( sorry can't find link to that!) http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/category/low-carb-diet-forum.18/
  • Hi Moonlights, did you mean ALL UK food labels already have fibre subtracted, therefore the Carb count is always net? :o I've been looking at fibre count ( listed separately) and subtracting that figure from Carb count to give me " net carbs".......( gulps....... :/ ) Have I been wrong all along????!!!! :o
  • :/ Thanks E.D.! :)
  • Hi All, many thanks for your considered responses and apologies for not acknowledging them sooner, I've just returned from a funeral. I had no idea this is what net carbs was developed for Sunny Bunny, so perhaps I need to rethink my approach! As for them already subtracting the fibre from the carb count......hell!!! This…
  • Many thanks kiwiapplepear, I just wish I'd discovered this WoE 30 years ago!!!!! ;)
  • Hi Elizabeth 2360, Sounds like you've had quite a time recently! I'm 58 and have lost over 70lbs using this WOE, so I have great faith in it. This forum is brilliant for both advice and support. Another useful source, considering your diabetes is; http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/category/low-carb-diet-forum.18/ You'll find…
  • Thanks! I'm just fed up the low carb message is spreading........:-/ It means Asdas supplies of Cauliflower Rice are selling out before I get there!!!!! :-)
  • Welcome Debby!! I asked the same question as I had SO much to lose too. I started too low ( for me) and stayed on a 20g per day limit for too long. Whilst this works for some folk, you're probably better starting a bit higher, as @Karlottap suggests. I'm happiest at between 30-50g per day, but this is unique to YOU, so see…
  • I've learned a LOT about my eating behaviours over the past couple of years, including the fact that I get hungry later in the day. SO! Against all received wisdom, I eat very lightly at breakfast and lunch and have a BIG scrummy dinner, which fills me up ( and believe me I'm greedy!! :D ) Just wish I'd used common sense…
  • Right, thanks! I can get Green and Blacks so that's one to try. I've been using Highlights but Carb count is huge :o It's my one real indulgence....
  • Welcome! Unsure how all this social media works but feel free to contact me!! This site has been my salvation, truly. I started 2.5 years ago at 250lbs so I know JUST how you feel! I've lost almost 70lbs, mainly through LCHF. I came into this via Atkins but soon realised my carb count was too low and unsustainable ( my own…
  • Just a thought......I was on Omeprozole for ages and my problems seemed to intensify with a LCHF regime.......however.......I gave up alcohol 10 months ago :o and have now stopped taking the medication altogether!!! My acid issues have subsided..... RESULT! :)
  • Yes! But don't make the same mistake I made, which was to buy ONE size smaller ( as I'd underestimated how much I could lose with this WoE!!!). I wasted lots of cash but no matter......how exciting eh?! :)
  • Thanks RowdysLady, I've just looked that up on Amazon and I can get it in the UK too. Now...having lived a sheltered , UK life...... :D .......what I DO with a syrup??! :o Sometimes, when I read these boards, I feel like I've been kidnapped by aliens and only just rejoined the earthlings! :D Whilst I'm posting, apologies…
  • Oooh THAT sounds promising! Thanks again Dragon :)
  • I'm happiest in the 30 to 50 range too but think I'm eating too little fat still. It's decades of " low fat" conditioning I guess ;)
  • Thanks. I've just been researching Bulletproof stuff......forgive me if all this is obvious to you guys, but I feel I'm on the first rung of this ladder, so have much to learn! I really don't fancy the BPC......I realise it's probably really " filling" , but........ When I asked Mr Google about BP stuff, this came up.…
  • Thanks " ladipoet " ! Presume it's OK to warm ingredients on the stove rather than microwave, as I don't have such luxuries on board! :D
  • Wow Wow WOW! Can't thank you enough for all your suggestions..... thanks especially to Dragon for working stuff out for me. The Mexican recipe sounds quite straight forward , I'll certainly try it. Sorry for delay in responding, I live on a boat so I've been cruising today! :) Sas
  • Thanks " Paleo" ! :)
  • Wow! Thanks for the responses Gallowmere and Dragonwolf ! Don't suppose you know the carb count for yours do you please Dragon? :)
