  • I take atenolol, which I think is similar. My doctor prescribed it for my migraines due to stress. I'm a serious stress-monger, and it has actually helped a lot for that and my migraines. It hasn't caused any weight gain for me, since I started taking it a couple of years back. But I hear ya about how hard it can be to get…
  • Definitely fathead pizza! And zoodles and cauliflower rice - I know those aren't recipes, but they are wonderful substitutions that help me not miss real pasta or rice. :)
  • Congrats! Isn't this WOE the best?! I had been eating keto for 3 months last year, got sick (like, admitted to the hospital kind of sick), fell off the wagon for about 3 months, got back on, and fell back off. Been off since last Sept. I've just had so much going on that I haven't had any motivation to get back on. Well,…
  • I don't agree. I ate lower carb for almost a year and felt awesome. I ate my carbs through leafy greens and ate lots of berries, tomatoes and avocados. Still got plenty of protein and more healthy fats like coconut oil. I lost weight and loved eating that way because I never felt deprived because my sugar cravings…
  • All I can say is WOW! I definitely have no excuse after reading your post!
  • I watched a lot of her videos when I first discovered keto. I appreciate her passion for the subject, and impressed with her level of discipline, but for a person like me who has a normal 9-5 and kids and husband and various other obligations her "protocol" is largely unrealistic. Plus caffeine saves me every day!
  • A co-worker is currently on a diet and exercise plan and she said the biggest thing that helped her was cutting out soda (non-diet). She also drinks more water and cut out her morning breakfasts of breakfast tacos, donuts, hash browns, sugar cereal. She's slimmed down quite a bit.
  • The shiritaki noodles remind me of ramen noodles, and I wouldn't really consider them anything like pasta. But I like them in Asian recipes. The only thing is you have to rinse them really well, and even then, they have a super "earthy" aftertaste. The pastas like Dreamfields that claim to be low-carb aren't that low carb.
  • I had to remember this after I had my physical last month. My cholesterol had always been normal (been on keto on and off for the past 10 month, mostly on). But this year my total and LDL went up slightly above normal. However, my triglycerides to HDL ratio was lower than it's been.
  • I usually have 2 heavy days during my cycle, and I usually just take those days off. On the other days where it might be more medium, I just go by how I feel. I feel like the rest of the month I workout pretty hard, so I don't sweat it if I don't work out that much one week of the month.
  • Potatoes. Everything else like rice, pasta, sweets I don't miss. But potatoes I miss. I've tried different things with cauliflower and radish but there is just not one acceptable sub for me. So once in a while I'll have a couple fries or bites of my kids' potatoes.
  • I've been on the keto way of life for 10 months and have take. Fluoxetine for a number of years now. I tend to feel that way during the female time of the month. Other than that I find that keeping up on my electrolytes and other supplements as well as exercising really helps me. And for me, the exercise parts makes a huge…
  • Chicken taquitos made with Colby Jack and cheddar.
  • Keto/LCHF really is a great way of life. I found out about it last October/Nov and figured I'd do it for a few months. But it's been nearly a year and love it. Best thing about it, I'm healthier, never hungry, no longer obsess about food, no longer have to eat 4-5 meals a day, have consistent energy, and the list goes on.
  • I don't think you absolutely HAVE to eat low carb forever. But you should be aware of the way your body responds to foods. I initially started LCHF to lose weight and have since discovered that I am insulin resistant, and that I can very easily lose or maintain my weight on LCHF much better than with, say, flexible…
  • My son is 15 and still has never had a cavity in his life. I don't think it's attributed to good genes because my hubby and I wouldn't say we were blessed with naturally good teeth. I had braces back in middle school, and regular cleanings every 6 months, and brush and floss twice a day. So my teeth are decent as an adult.…
  • I tried sugar free mom's recipe one time and liked it. I didn't have tapioca flour so substituted flax meal and it still came out good.
  • Haha...when I read the subject, and then drilled into the post, I was like "Phone?? Introverts don't like phones!" LOL. My favorite introvert meme says "I'm sorry I didn't answer my phone when you called. I don't use it for that."
  • Definitely agree with this! I'm so glad we did this when we went!!
  • We stayed at a hotel just outside Queens and took the train into the city everyday. It was kinda a sketchy area, but we were only there to sleep. Haha. I'd recommend taking the advice of a local for hotel. Definitely don't drive. We took Uber only a couple of times because the price skyrockets at night.
  • French fries and Wendy's chocolate frosty. no question.
  • Yes, Fitness Blender! They have tons of videos. I do like some of the Beachbody vids, too. I don't buy their shakes or extras.
  • I try make a bunch of chicken breasts in my pressure cooker (can also use slow cooker), with salt, pepper, onion powder, and whatever other seasoning I feel like. And I freeze them individually. So if there isn't leftovers for tomorrow's lunch, I can pull out a chicken piece i froze and make chicken salad, or mix it in a…
  • Yeah I've heard some keto fitness people say that the scale isn't a good reflection of lean muscle gains/fat loss. So seeing a drop in weight despite all those calories doesn't necessarily mean you're not progressing. :)
  • I started eating keto 8 months ago and love it. I would say the hardest thing is making sure I drink enough water, maintaining my electrolytes (because like someone else, my BP also tends to run low). I'd say my hunger pangs vary depending on whether it is that time of the month. That's when cravings typically set in! But…
  • My co-worker has a membership at Costco and she bought me a bag of the Honeyville brand (3 lbs) for $22 and that was a pretty good deal. I really like this brand because the things I make come out much less grainy than Bobs Red Mill brand.
  • There have been times when I haven't had much veggies, but I try to take my multi-vitamins, along with my other supps. Like others have said there are those who do zero carbs, just be sure you get plenty of fats in. :)
  • Rosemary chicken in Carmelized onion sauce smothered in lots of butter (because I forgot to add it in during cooking...lol ), green beans with bacon and grape tomatoes and my yummy avocados! My family ate this chicken up! Found on Pinterest, as usual.…
