  • I have not had any loss at all for 6 weeks. I weigh all my intake and exercise 6 times a week. I stuck with it and today got on the scales and I have lost .7 of a kilo. Not much I know but it is a loss. I guess what I am saying is stick with it. Think of this as a list style change rather than a weight loss journey. BTW I…
  • I didn't know Donna Hay had a sensible book. I will look it up. Thankyou.
  • I'm also in Brisbane. 53 years old female with *gulp* another 48 kg to lose.
  • I tend to lose a size every 10 - 15 kg.
  • I have a very unusual illness called chronic ideopathic pacreatitis. Most people have acute pacreatitis and most frequently they are alcoholics. I have the pain always with acute attacks of severe pain. Noone knows why. I have also survived three lots of cancer. Uterine thyroid and melanoma. So yeah I know what it feels…
  • I weigh and measure everything. Always. I always have my phone with me so it is easy to do.
  • Are you getting enough protein?
  • It really IS wierd isn't it? I hate that it does this to me too.
  • I log every single day religiously. But I have a great deal of weight to lose 48 kg (11 down) to be exact. But feel free to add me if you want, I live in Brisbane.
  • I bought a Misfit and I love it. But I didn't want a heart rate monitor. I am just that much of an elite athlete to worry about it.
  • I don't like the look of this diet, particularly if you are looking at getting pregnant and being a mum. There doesn't seem to be much protein or iron there which you need as menstruating woman. Think of the food pyramid and eat like that. Log your calories here as well, keep on exercising and you will lose weight in an…
  • I plateaued for about a month for a while there. I was weighing everything and exercising daily. I went to see a dietitian who told me that he often sees people that have had surgery for their obesity and they plateau and he tells them to up their protein intake. I didn't have much respect for a lot of the other things he…
  • That is a lot of weight. Congratulations. It really depends on how you are losing it. Are you eating well? Lots of vegetables and fruits? There is more to being healthy than just being at your ideal BMI.
  • Good on you. What a cool story, I think that we all feel so much better when we are fitter and stronger. Keep on moving and thanks so much for sharing.
  • After a while this will pass. Are you sure you are hungry and not only craving food? I have had to really think about that recently and I have found that it is getting easier. I stop and think before eating, I think "am I really hungry?" If the answer is no I don't eat, if I am, I eat some celery or carrots. The celery…

  • I find this sort of comment interesting, I hear it all the time. When you talk about not wanting to look muscular I wonder what you really mean. Assuming that you are a young person, think of the beauty icons around at present, Beyonce, Scarlett Johannsan, Mianda Kerr. All are women that show clear signs of lifting…
  • This is such a good thing to do. I have found that logging every single thing I eat or drink makes me so much more accountable and I see patterns, which helps you to avoid some pitfalls.
  • You know there is a group here for people wanting to lose 100+ pounds without surgery. Why don't you join it? The people are supportive and know the journey.
  • Keep at it. Because of many health issues my weight loss is really really slow. But my friend is losing weight really quickly. She is starting to look a little wrinkly here and there but I haven't. We have lost the same amount of weight, I just started after her.

  • You know what? I had a similar experience today at the gym. I was using the rowing machine and working really hard. Two girls came along and looked at me, one said to the other "check the Buddha". I was mortified and so embarrassed, you see I do have a big tummy. They went onto do weights and I did too as is my usual…
  • One cites authors in a conventional manner in bibliography or reference lists and in the body of the text. I assumed I was being asked to cite by correct convention. I had already explained that I was unable to create a hyperlink on my phone. So get over yourself. I provided you with the information you asked for, but did…
  • I actually found it a very interesting piece of qualitative research. That's why I remembered it. I am sorry you didn't feel the same. But at least you took the time to read the article that gave the gist of the original, thank you for that. Anyway off to the gym now. I apologize to the OP for derailing this thread with…
  • I already said I do not know how to link from my phone. You are interested enough to ask but not interested enough to put in some search parameters. The facts are there, you can rail against them all you like I have offered all I can.
  • For heavens sake how would you like me tobcite it? Harvard, APA? I was trying to make it easy for you to understand so you could look it up, seeing as you were interested. I wasn't so worried about conventions of scholarship.
  • Really? You don't do a lot of research then. I have researched literally thousands of papers in my career. I can honestly say that I do not have easy access to all of them, but can remember snippets of information from them. I do not understand this mania for people demanding to see research papers when, by and large, they…
  • But we were discussing anorexia. That was my original point. Also the very definition of anorexia is someone that starves themselves (often for years) because of a mental illness that complicates their relationship with food and body image. Certainly this is an oversimplification, but true nonetheless.
  • I am sorry, re reading this I can see that this could be misconstrued. What I meant was; The mortality rate associated with anorexia nervosa is 12 times higher than the mortality rate associated with all other causes of death in females aged 14 - 25.
  • [quote="ndj1979;32399662". I don't know too many people that are going to hang on for years "starving" themselves, which was the example given.[/quote] Some statistics record 24 million people with Ed's in the USA alone. I do not know the rates of anorexia nervosa alone. The death rate associated with anorexia nervosa has…
  • I have already done the research. I suggest you log into google and type "research papers that indicate partners derail weight loss". That should get you there.
