I want to drop 25 pounds by June...my daughter's Girl Scout troop is heading to a water park, and I am not ready to be in front of all those other moms in a swim suit quite yet! 5lbs or so a month will get me there with a bit less embarrassment about what I have done to body by "letting myself go."

I am like you: 50% carb, 20% protein, 30% fat. It works for me, and I do not feel deprived. Higher carbs allows me to get plenty of fiber from fresh fruit, veg, and whole grains. I don't have to resort to processed protein bars or powders. If I workout, it is mostly aerobic or running/elliptical type cardio, so higher…

I eat IIFYM because it is more flexible than cutting whole food groups. I don't have to wait for "free" or "treat" days. I typically pre-plan my entire day's menu in the morning or the night before to make sure macros are about right. I start with one meal that I really want to eat that day and work everything else around…

I had braces when younger, and I just got them again as an adult (age 40). They didn't extract any teeth to ease crowding before, so the teeth just got crooked/overlapped again over time. AND my parents never bought me a retainer. This time, I am having a tooth pulled from lower and upper teeth to make spacing and bite…

I have the same problem, so end up eating a lot of grilled chicken strips. I get some from whole wheat breads, boiled eggs, and some from my veggies, but on reduced calories it is hard for me to get enough protein and still eat high fiber. I don't get much protein from nuts or nut butters because they end up too high…

My weird one this week is boiled eggs. It's normal thing for me for breakfast, but kind of plain. For some reason I have even been dreaming about them at night! It is like I want to eat 6 boiled eggs at one time (I don't, but I could!). I've previously had a taste for them and/or deviled eggs if it had been a while since I…

My trainer tells me to do 20-30 minutes of cardio before weights as my warm up, so I do mine on same day.

Because I am having lean protein and other healthy veggies and grains tomorrow, I need to make up some fat to get my macros to come out, SOOO - I'm having a quarter of a Hershey's chocolate bar. (Normally, I'd throw some avocado in my meal for fat, but I'm out.) Chocolate it is!!

I think the 13g on saturated would be the limit to stay under, and that mono and poly wouldn't be monitored because they are the "good" ones. When I read my saturated fat grams, I don't try to meet that number, but I try not to exceed it. Hope that helps!

I tried to send you a request, but MFP said "Application error," so maybe you can look for me.

Good luck! Congrats on three weeks of logging your food, and I'll send you a friend request.

It is great that you can eat intuitively and listen to your body's cues on when you've had enough. I have been unable to do that. I can't portion control without measuring, weighing, and planning/logging food. I'm envious of those whose bodies can achieve this function! Fantastic for you!

Yep! I had that problem when I was limiting my sodium. I changed my MFP macros to watch fiber instead and didn't worry about the salt since I have low BP. The dizziness and seeing spots went away! So I agree, do try increasing the sodium.

And Wheat Thins and hummus are also a good combo.

Cracked pepper and olive oil Triscuits with spreadable herb and garlic Swiss cheese wedge (like Laughing Cow), then top with either pecans and pineapple or walnuts and dried cranberries. Easy and sooo good!

I don't care about baldness. It is neither a turn off or turn on. I think it just depends on what features a particular person finds attractive, just like some men like legs, or breasts, and some only like long hair on women. Some women check out men's butts, or arm muscles, and others could care less. Each individual has…

I found encouragement to keep going by watching YouTube nutrition and weight loss documentaries, or shows like Supersize vs. Superskinny. BBC has some good food oriented shows. When I look at what I eat from a health perspective (to fight disease) it made it a lot easier to eat healthy rather than pick the quicker…

If you are at home, don't rule out cereal and milk with fresh berries and nuts as a snack or meal. I like Shredded Wheat, bran flakes or Cheerios with blueberries and slivered almonds, banana and walnuts, or dried cranberries and pecans. If you weigh your foods, you could weigh out the cereal portions ahead of time and put…

Welcome to MFP! I have a 2 year old and 4 year old, and I never liked chocolate, plain cheese, or peanut butter until I got pregnant. Weird what pregnancy does to your taste buds. I had lost about 115 pounds and reached my goal, but went off my plan a couple months over holidays and a home remodel. Now I need to drop about…

You can friend me, and I'll try to help leave comments for you. I have an open diary, so it may give you some meal ideas. :) Having friends really does make you want to log-in and stay in check.

Thanks for all the input. I had not checked this discussion for several months, but thought I should give my results. As an update, I went down to 113, and my legs did eventually thin out...I actually had a thigh gap for the first time ever when I got below 115. Overall, it was too small for my taste, so I went back up…

I have been slowly upping my calories as i move into maintenance. I reached my goal a month ago, but have continued to lose a few pounds since which was not planned. When i first switch from weight loss to maintenance, I tried to jump up my calories about 200 all at once and gained several pounds in only 4 days, so I…

I do 5 lb hand weight exercises occasionally, and things where I lift my own body weight, but mainly I lift my toddler girls all day! I also push them on hills in a double stroller which works my arms and back as well. I personally don't mind my upper body - it is the other people who are bothered by it. My husband thinks…

Luckily, I look fairly hourglass shape except for the thighs. My hips slimmed down well. I am going to go ahead and try losing down to 115 and see what it looks like... I agree that gaining a bit back would be easy! LOL. As far as lifting, I talked to a trainer a my local gym and she advised me to wait until I get to my…

I had big legs and also carry weight in my lower body when heavy. I have lost over 100 pounds, and my legs are the last thing thinning down, but they are much MUCH smaller than they were. My hips slimmed down before my thighs, but it can and will happen as you lose body fat. I wear a size 4 now and my thighs are about…

I am 5'2" and am just a couple pounds away from 125, and that is not going to be low enough to satisfy me. So I agree that long term, you could probably lose a few more pounds. However, if something is keeping you from continuing your weight loss and you need to just maintain a while before attempting to lose more, that's…

I am truly a beginner to jogging/running because I am just recently small enough to do it where it doesn't bother my knees. I only get to jog when my husband can watch my 2 toddlers for a bit, and it is inconsistent, but I'm going to shoot for 12 miles this month. He isn't sure if he can commit to watching them every other…

That does seem crazy for it to be so much higher! I'd give it a few days to settle back down before you can really tell how much you're up. And I agree with the above...it must be partially water retention.

I agree with eating the whole egg. The yolk does have most of the vitamins and minerals in it. Plus, your body needs some fat. Mother nature is pretty smart - she fixed it up in the right package for us already. :) I buy lean meats, but I do eat whole eggs.

Best advice is just track and log everything as accurately as you can so that you can make adjustments where you need to in order to stay under your calorie goal. It is that simple and that complicated! it will require dedication and effort on your part, but it is completely doable and you can get to your goal weight. Find…
