Being fat isn't the issue to me. It's the health issues that go along with being fat. Health first.

My Dad's "don't waste your food" speech still rings when I leave something on my plate, unless I'm keeping it for left-overs. Another line was "Take what you want, but eat what you take." That's the one I use. When I cook or or hit a salad bar or whatever I make/take only what I know I'll eat. If a cookie left on a plate…

No, yes.

That could be right. I'm a 5'9'', 188, dude with my settings it suggests 1490. I'm about do for adjustments though.

I know about WW. I was on it for 3 months and reached my goal weight, dropping 32 pounds. I gained it all back and more when I stopped it though. The only thing that'll work, at least what worked for me and several others I know, is knowing what you actually need nutritionally and working in, and minimize what you don't…

I think juicing is great. It does wonders for me as far as health is concerned, forget weight control.

At the beginning of 2013 a medical issue did it for me. It lead to losing my medical insurance so I felt that I could only get better by eating healthy. I went vegan the 1st 5 months and lost most of the 50 pounds I'm down now but better yet, I was quickly off the new meds I was given and the meds I was on for 30+ years…

I used to eat it straight from the jar and before I realized it I'd be scraping the sides. What helped me kick that habit is the more I learned about food and health the less I wanted it, the type I was eating anyway (Skippy Super Chunk Extra Crunchy). I started eating a natural type with only nuts and salt, now I eat…

"...what the food is actually made of." That's what it was for me. After a few years now of eating mainly fresh vegetables and fruits I'm still trying to figure out what's wrong with it. Some friends and relatives think there is but I'm feeling better than I ever have on meds and being 190 instead of 240 feels pretty good…

Good friend.

I made a chicken salad type thing the other day. Chicken breast, hard boiled egg, grapes, cashews, kale, olive oil, and some spicy avocado hummus. My wife had it over spinach and my son had it in a sandwich. They SAID they liked it.

I used to do this and everyone thought I was nuts too. For me, a jar of plain unsalted mixed nuts, spinach, celery, cucumber, and sweet potatoes.

Try smoothies or whole grain muffin topped with chopped kale, spinach, bell peppers, jicama and avocado, with an over easy egg, oatmeal with fruit and cinnamon, try sweet potatoes instead of the typical...

I went completely vegan over a couple of years ago for my health. I went from 240 to 200 in months. Now I eat mainly fruits and vegetables, I'm 190 now and still losing. Whole plant-based foods is the way to go for sure. Health and weight loss will follow.

"Get healthy" is exactly right. Eating primarily plant-based foods for the last 2+ years has helped my health significantly. In the 1st few months I went from 240 to 200. I'm 190 now still losing weight. Health 1st. Weight loss follows.

I was on the WW plan years ago and it helped me lose weight. I gained it all back and more but that's because I walk away at my goal weight without really knowing how food affects our bodies. Staying on point, WW is about your cals, fiber, fat, and protein intake in a given amount of points allowed in a day based on your…

I agree with her as far as food goes. I eat mainly fruits and vegetables and have been going on 3 years. I've lost 40+ pounds in the 1st 5 months and I'm still gradually losing. I feel better than I have in 20 years. No, I won't go eating 7 cases of bananas within days anytime soon.

Bell peppers, cucumber, spicy avocado hummus (Coscto), quinoa, black beans, peas, sweet potatoes...

It's about the nutrients packed in those calories. It's not rare that I have a 1200 calorie day, and I'm 5'9', 190. I eat mainly vegetables and fruits. I've only had breakfast so far today and I'm around or over half of my RDA for most the nutritional values MFP tracks. Unless you're going to work out, 1200 is fine.

Thai. Pad Thai or pineapple fried rice.

I drink water and vegetable/fruit smoothies. I'll occasionally ruin it and add a protein supplement.

Mine varies. I pay more attention to micros and macros.

A smoothie with Vega protein and greens powder, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries, pomegranate and water.

My go to dinner used to be a large ultimate bacon cheeseburger combo, 2 tacos, 20 pc nuggets, and an oreo cookie shake.

I've been up and down too, 240 lbs at my highest. I erased everything from my mind about food and started over, helping me change my food lifestyle. Within 5 months symptoms of a health issue subsided (the main reason for the change) and I lost 50 pounds in the process. That was a little over 2 years ago, still no major…

I went from 240 to 190 in 5 months by changing the way I eat, but yes I would say weights and cardio.
