  • Wow! That's impressive! :) Very nice job and thank you for sharing. Would you happen to have any before/after pics you'd like to share?

  • I fit in a size 18 dress today. And not just any size 18 dress, but one that I've had in my closet for 3.5 years... unable to wear it. It's from a brand that I regularly purchase clothes from. And just 80 days ago all of my dresses from them were size 22. That's some good motivation right there...

  • That sounds great! Good job - 48 lbs. in 3.5 months. Yay! :) Swimming burns a lot of calories... I need to get back to that, starting this week. It also tones your body nicely.
  • Well, I started all of this on April 13th. As I posted in the other thread, I've lost 15 kg. (33 lbs.) so far. We have 193 days left until the end of the year. That's a little bit over 27 weeks. Realistically, I'll most likely be able to lose another 27 kg. (59 lbs.) or so by then. That would come up to 92 lbs. I might…
  • Congratulations to you too! It sounds like you are doing great. Things always slow down after the initial couple of weeks. That's normal. Today is day 70 for me. I've lost 15 kg. (33 lbs.) so far. :) I took my measurements three days ago - I've lost 6" off my waist, 5" off my hips, 5.5" off my over bust area, etc. I'm…

  • On my 50th day of logging into MFP, I'd like to share this with you: I have officially lost 10 kg. (22 lbs.) Woo hoo! :) If that isn't some extra motivation to keep going, I don't know what is...

  • How are everyone's goals for May coming along? :) I received the results from my blood work. I am happy to report that I don't have diabetes (phew!) or even pre-diabetes. That was my biggest concern. My thyroid gland looks good as well. I've lost 3 kg. (6.6 lbs.) in the past 4 weeks. That's slightly lower than what I…

  • I'm 5'6" and 290 lbs. Goal weight - 150 lbs. I'm 28. Married. No kids (yet.) I love to cook. I go swimming and enjoy walking my dog. My DH and I are planning on having a baby, hopefully towards the end of 2016. ;)
  • I do have a lot of weight to lose - 160 lbs. total. I've lost 16 lbs. so far. So that's another 144 lbs. left to go. I'm one of those people who feel hungry extremely rarely... but I do love to eat though. ;) 1,500 calories can be a lot if you're careful how you use them. I've been at a healthy weight of around 135-150…
  • My TDEE is 2,511, assuming a sedentary lifestyle. I consume under 1,506 calories per day. That's a daily deficit of at least 1,005 or a weekly deficit of at least 7,035 calories. My goal is to lose 1 kg. (2.2 lbs.) per week. I do not calculate or count calories burned from exercising/working out/swimming/walking into this.…
  • Feel free to add me. I'm in the same boat as you. ;) My diary is open to people whom I add as friends on here. And I log in every day. Note that I don't log in any of my exercise, because MFP is notoriously known for overestimating calories burned through exercise. I view such calories burned as a "bonus" and still try to…
  • 1 tbsp. finely chopped white onion 1 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro 1 tsp. sea salt (optional: 2 tsp. finely chopped jalapeño... or more - to taste) I make a paste by grinding the ingredients mentioned above in the molcajete until they are very finely ground. In addition, you need the following: 3 medium ripe but firm…

  • That's why I record everything I intend to eat... i.e. I log food before I prepare and eat it. ;) This way if I go overboard, I decide what I can go without for the day... I remove it and end up not eating it in the first place. If you go over your daily limit, you could always exercise to burn the extra calories off.
  • My mother-in-law on International Women's Day. ;) What's your dream vacation like?
  • Yeah... it seems to take a while for shipments to arrive from Asia. I also read this review: http://www.engadget.com/2015/02/09/healbe-gobe-review/ It doesn't seem like such a good idea. I guess I'll continue my search for something that can accurately measure calories burned through swimming. ;)
  • Of course you can lose 50 lbs. by October... if you eat right and exercise. You have 150 days or roughly 21 weeks until then. If you lose 2 lbs. per week from your calorie intake deficit (eating less food), that's 42 lbs. alone. Estimate your TDEE and see what your weekly calorie intake deficit would look like at 1,200…
  • I'd like to get it too. But $299 isn't exactly cheap. So I want to make sure that it works before I buy it... or at least get some feedback. I like that it's waterproof and tracks calories burned while swimming. I've been looking for something like this for the longest time.
  • Nice job, deedee! Do you measure yourself regularly? How is everyone's May going? :) I took my measurements on April 18th (5 days after I initiated my new healthy lifestyle.) I took them again 20 days later and I found out the following... - I had lost 2 inches off my bust (under.) - I had lost 2 inches off my waist. - I…

  • Nice thread. ;) 1. I don't want to be diagnosed with diabetes. 2. My husband and I are both carriers for an incurable disease that leads to a fatal end. And although we don't have any symptoms ourselves, it's not advisable for us to conceive naturally. So we're going to do an IVF. I need to have an ideal BMI during my egg…
  • Here's another great recipe. Technically this is a "salad." I personally get very well-fed with it. Ingredients: 1 boiled potato (around 5.3 oz.) 1 boiled large egg 2 oz. Black Forest ham (cubed or cut in thin slices) 1/2 cup mushrooms (marinated, without the liquid) 1/3 cup green peas 1/2 dill pickle 1.5 oz. shredded…

  • Well, I'm scheduled for blood work today at 11:30 a.m. I found a wonderful dietitian. She's quite busy though. So I'm going to see her on May 22nd. I guess 2 weeks wait time is not that bad. And I'm on the right track in the meantime. I just hope that she isn't one of those dietitians who tell you to go vegetarian/vegan or…

  • Adding 2 goals... I'm going to get full blood work done this week. I'm also going to see a very experienced dietitian in NYC. I'm going to discuss what I've been doing with her and see if she has any other ideas for optimizing weight loss.

  • Next time have the good stuff and make it count. ;)
  • I don't see anything wrong with having a burger every now and then... as long as you manage to fit it in in your daily allowance of calories. ;) Also, I wouldn't be caught dead eating that fast food crap. If I'm going to eat a burger, I'd get the best burger in town. :)
  • I'm married. I'm not sure this would work for my husband and me. We've discussed it when we were younger and before we got married... more as a joke than anything else. Neither of us is "the jealous kind." But it's most likely not something we'd explore. But if it works for 2 people and they agree on the "rules", hey, by…
  • I'd like to point a few things out... Diets under 800 calories per day should only be administered when an obese individual must lose a lot of weight quickly for medical reasons (i.e. undergoing surgery or keeping immediate health concerns at bay.) And they should be supervised by an experienced doctor. Also, keep in mind…
  • You lose weight (mostly water) much quicker in the beginning (the initial 2 weeks.) Your weight loss stabilizes after that. Losing 30 lbs. in 30 days means that you plan on getting a 105,000 calorie deficit (1 lbs. of fat = approx. 3,500 calories.) I'm curious, how do you plan on doing that?
  • That sounds great! I'm looking forward to seeing and using it. :) Thanks, Etherlily!
  • Thank you all for your replies. :) I wouldn't mind paying a higher price... as long as the gadget works the way it's intended. After all, I plan on using it (almost) daily. ;) I don't mind entering my burned calories manually. Does the Polar ft7 tell you how many calories you burn?
  • 231 lbs. - that's it? There are people on this website who weigh twice as much... and drop down to a healthy weight. It sounds like you need to find motivations. ;) Make a list of all the reasons why you should lose the weight. Find some inspiration. Set some mini goals and rewards for reaching them. Then make a plan about…
