  • HELLO everyone.. I am 48 years old and am no longer trying to lose weight.. I did that 2 years ago and got down to 145lbs.. I have to say for me I was too thin and did not really like the way I looked. I dropped from 180 pounds to 145 pounds in about 9 months. Most people thought I got sick but I was very healthy. So my…
  • I used to drink mine with cream and sugar then I went to milk and sugar and then went to skim milk and sugar and now I drink it with just 1 sugar and no milk. I only drink 1 or 2 cups of coffee a day.. I have really cut back on coffee. It took me a long time to get down to drinking my coffee without milk but I did it. Just…
  • 1 lb a week is safe and very doable .. eat clean and exercise and you will get there.
  • Use MFP to reach your goals.. set small realistic goals for shorter periods rather than trying to do it all at once. Then adjust your goals as you keep reaching the smaller ones. Eating your calories according to your plan and exercising everyday will do the trick.
  • There is no MAGIC Pill.. eat clean and workout - that is the secret.
  • All good but lose the diet coke and just stick to water.
  • Very sorry to hear about your health issues but you are able to turn things around.. it's time to focus on your health. MFP is a great tool to use to keep you in check.. adding some sort of exercise everyday will help. If you are able to walk for 30 minutes that would be a good start.
  • Please add me... I am 48 and new with MFP as well .. I look to encourage others and look for support as well.
  • If you put your mind to it you can do anything. You can do this !!
  • So 3 years ago I was at 185 pounds and was at my heaviest and my 36" waist pants were getting snug. That is when I decided to start to do something about it.. I had always gone to the gym but was sort of not regular about it and my diet included anything and everything. So first thing I did was to exercise on a regular…
  • Consistency and hard work will prevail. It is great that you have started to go the gym and by doing both weight training and cardio workouts you will see results.. Just do not expect it to happen over night. Remember it took a long time to put on the weight and it should and will take a long time to take off the weight as…
  • Yes first thing in the morning for me as well and I am now going to just weigh in once a week.. let's not get too obsessed with the scale..
  • 1500 calories a day is way too low for me as well .. I guess I would drop to that if I was not doing any kind of exercising but since I do workout just about 6 days a week I am comfortable with 2100 calories a day. I am maintaining my weight with this amount of calories.. anything more or less does make a big difference…
  • Congrats on completing P90X it is a very challenging workout. You did lose 5 pounds and that is great but how do your clothes feel on you. Sometimes people just put too much emphasis on the scale .. you most likely got more toned and you most likely gained muscle weight as well. So losing only 5 pounds is not so bad as you…
  • Years ago I switched over to aspartame and did it for a short while.. I never really liked the taste of it. It always left a strange after taste. I am back to using sugar but I have cut back on sugar a lot over the years. I guess everything in moderation is fine.
  • I like to have a snack before going to bed as well.. for me something light works best .. If I eat too much then I have problems sleeping. My favourite snacks are a banana with peanut butter or cottage cheese with a bit of orange marmalade .. last night I had a handful of grapes. Do keep track of your foods you are eating…
  • Diets are temporary fixes and after you finish your fruit diet you are more than likely to gain all of your weight or add more.. Please do not do these crazy fad diets. Eat clean and workout on a daily basis and you will get healthy and fit. I have lost 7 pounds in 10 days so far and my calorie intake is 2080 calories a…
  • Absolutely do not feel guilty and besides you only ate half so that is a lot of us would not have the willpower to do.. I would have ate the whole thing. Anyway having your carbs early in the day is not bad at all because you are active most of the day. If you can switch over to whole wheat or better yet get breads made…
  • Popcorn is a good snack but do not use those microwave type.. they are laced with all sorts of chemicals. Yes you may be under your calories but you are just putting other bad things in your body.. Best to go old school and use a pan and corn kernels. Even the hot air popcorn machines are a better option. My choice for a…
  • Eating clean and working out daily is key to reaching your goals. You should try to lose the 40 pounds in 6 months.. it will require determination and sticking on track. I personally lost 30 pounds in 3 months but it was with a lot of hard work and lots of sweat. Guys usually lose weight quicker so that is why I think that…
  • You can do this.. if you need motivation and tips.. please add me as your friend. I have been able to maintain a healthy lifestyle for the past 2 years and am very happy to help anybody that would like some motivation and accountability with fitness and nutrition.
  • I am 48 and am new to MFP as well. I am here to help you and anyone else that would like some motivation.
  • Whoa 1200 calories a day seems way low to me.. but then again I am a guy and I workout so my needs are much different.. So you can get a lot of great snack ideas from Pinterest. You can go to their website or use the app if you have a smartphone..
  • Welcome to the group.. 20 pounds is a very attainable goal to reach. By keeping to your calorie goal you have set and by logging all of your foods is a great start. Running is great but you should add some other workouts to your mix...
  • You have made a start and if you commit to tracking your food intake then this is a good start. Take it one day at a time and just remember you are doing this to improve your health. Do not go on a crazy weight loss diet as you know diets are only temporary. Make a lifestlyle change. Add some exercise to your day.. just…
  • HI and welcome.. I am a newbie as well.. keeping track of your food is a very good tool but exercising is very important as well. Doing both will definitely will help you meet your goals.
