Sooooo...slight update. I decided to say screw the gym membership and donated the money. I plan on picking up an elliptical come taxes anyhow, maybe I'll get a rower instead. Thanks again all!

That's what I told my HR rep. Came in second. First place loser.

I lurk these boards alot and post very rarely. That being said, this is one of my favorite posts. I've revisited this one a few times and have shown my wife. I lost a little over 25lbs in just a few months and it has really hurt my wife's motivation as she fights the thyroid fight. Seeing stories like this are amazing…

Yes. My wife has been having a lot of trouble with hers syncing but mine have worked fine. It will add your steps and add the cals burned into you diary.

I have a pair of shorts to sleep in and last night the wouldn't fit around my waist, before they were pretty snug! I was worried I wasn't going to see any physical difference but that was motivation.

I love the fitbit stuff. I had an alta which was nice, counted just the basic stuff. Had it for a year and loved every second. I just recently got the Charge 2 and it has been amazing as well. Thankfully this one counts stairs, something I like to track as a cable guy. It's not the best at heart rate but if you follow the…

My wife had this issue for a week. She updated the fitbit app and it worked. I'd check to see if you have the latest version.

Good luck! Stick to logging the food and soon you see the weight drop. Best system I have used so far.

For me, I didn't touch the scale for about a month. When I stepped on and saw loss I was amazed. Have bee. Weighing in daily now. I still think waiting for my first weigh in was a great idea.

31 here in Good ol' Michigan. Today is also a rest day but laziness and snow made the decision

My wife doesn't get much support from her family. They tend to brush it off and dismiss her even after she had lost close to ten pounds. It's really easy for that to shut her down so I thumbs up everything she does on here. I leave comments while at work and we both have realized how unhealthy our old eating habits are.…

Oh I know. I usually have sushi day every two weeks as long as I don't go over my cals for the previous two weeks. A way to motivate me. I'm not worried about the one day in all reality. Just surprised. I swear I ate as much as I used to. It was eye opening for sure.

The only difference I've noticed so far is the guilt and lack of desire for food so far today lol. Though after 15 cheesy oysters I think that's a normal thing.

Thanks both of you. I plan on going to the VA next week and seeing what's up. Until then my cardio consists of walking as I refuse to pay for a gym membership and need fresh air.

Hanging things on utility poles or planting things within 3 feet are allowed to be removed by any utility worker. I have a saw in my truck that gets plenty of use.

Sounds like a smart person! It works if you stick to it and make it a habit.

Amazing job!

I'm not trying to be harsh but that scale doest give a damn about you. Put it in a shelf for the next two months and just focus on logging everything. If you go over at first that's fine. Just log. After a bit you will start seeing stuff like "Golly gee! That chicken I just cooked was 350cal. I could eat that and feel…

So I did it. Got shoes on and started walking my normal route. I was slower than usual (by about 10 mins) but still did it. Thanks all.

Oh I have no plans of stopping water hang and logging what I eat. It's mostly the whole exercise thing. Some days I end up in a crawl space or attic for a good period of time and the next day I feel too burned out. However, I've decided to take a good walk in about 15 minutes. Thanks for the reply. Just knowing someone…

Slightly_Amused approves of this. I'm gonna charge my phone and get at least a walk in. Ive been at this for a month and I see my food choices getting a bit worse (Had a bad day with food yesterday for lunch). Maybe a brief jog will help kick me back in gear after last weekend. Thank you.

By far the greatest comic strip of all time. I have 3 books of their comic strips. Almost named my first kid Calvin because of these.

My current mini goal is to get to 199lbs. I started at 230 and last time I weighed in I was at 217. There's a lot to getting below 200 for me. Regardless, long term plan is 185-180.

I worry about my wife running alone but only because of where we are at. I just had one of those microchips they use on pets implanted in her skull so hopefully if she does get abducted the local vet can help me find her.

Now.... We dance!

I still have 25lbs to be at my goal. That would put me right around 190-185. I'm 5'11. Thank you! I'll check it out this afternoon! I have a copy of convict on Kindle and will totally check out the You Are your own gym. Thank you all for the replies so far!

I have not used weights. I've never really had someone to help/show/spot or whatever. I've always used just bodyweight workouts. I do like the idea of switching it up weekly though. That seems like a good way to keep going each week so I can plan my workouts for strength week. Sounds like it would keep it interesting
-
I guess because over the years of trying this I have always burned out. I feel this time I should start out slow. I'm not looking at a total lack of strength training, but going from a 30-45 minute session to a 10-15 minute after a run.

Very first time I worked out was before I joined the Army. I was with a group of recruits and we were in the middle of push ups. At maybe number 8 I fell flat on the ground, all dizzy and trying to be a cool guy I tried once more. I couldn't make it to ten and had to have people help me walk to a bench to puke. Also, I one…
