That’s how I do it.

I logged here for over 3 years. During that time I lost around 50 pounds. Wasn’t exactly sure of start weight, within a couple pounds. I have an office job and commute that required me to be away from home for 11 hours a day. It was hard to find time to get much exercise on weekdays. I also spent several evenings after…

Dupe of vintage Coty Styx is my current go-to. Sweet Sting, blended by me, notes of neroli, beeswax absolute, petitgrain, Somali frankincense and cade essential oils. Smells like a beehive. Lancôme Magie Noire Sandalwood essential oil, sometimes with rose.

I get a message that the blog is private and that I don’t have permission.

I recently upgraded my Fitbit flex to a Charge 3 and found that it gave me a lot more calories for basic daily activities than my old Fitbit did. I finally changed the setting to let it think it’s on my dominant wrist, even though it isn’t, and the calories I get for normal activities is back in the range where I expect it…

I’ve made a decent Alfredo sauce using fat free cream cheese from Walmart, chicken or shrimp broth, garlic powder and a little bit of parm. I threw it together so there isn’t really a recipe.

If you prefer the taste of honey, or if you have the goal of eating locally produced food, then honey is better than sugar. Otherwise it doesn’t matter.

18 years ago, I had a ovary-sparing hysterectomy at 42 due to fibroids. I had already been gaining weight for several years due to unrelated factors, specifically a job change that eliminated opportunities for exercising at lunchtime, increased availability of nearly limitless snacks and job frustration that made me find…

My favorite is from Congo Coffee Project. It's delicious coffee, with a good mission. https://coffeetalk.com/ctmagazine/07-2013/5147/ It's a dark (full city) roast with a full rich, almost chocolatey flavor. We drink this on weekends when we have time to enjoy it. Weekday coffee is whatever kind of dark roast was on sale…

A few days ago, I cooked 8 oz of spaghetti with the idea that hubs and I would have 2 servings as our dinner, with 2 left over for lunches. Typically, we mix the cooked pasta into the pot of sauce, so that it can absorb some of the sauce. This does increase the volume of the pasta, but doesn't dilute the flavor. I didn't…

Bummer. I was hoping for pics of fatty acid chains and carbon atoms, done on someone’s keyboard.

Based on tracking similar activities with my Fitbit, a couple hours of cleaning, gardening and such makes the difference between ‘sedentary’ and ‘lightly active’. Maybe 200 calories, but not 450.

I have a hobby farm and eat chickens I’ve raised. Different breeds of chickens grow at different rates and can taste different. Diet is a factor, but hybrids that are bred for fast growth really do have less flavor than slower growing breeds that have been fed the same. They’re usually more tender though, and are better…

Turkey Hill made mango sorbet and green tea frozen yogurt in the same carton. It was a special flavor one summer and has never been back. So refreshing.

A lot of churches around here make and sell chocolate covered peanut butter and coconut eggs. Much better than Reeses. I've had 2 peanut butter and one coconut egg this year and am probably done eating Easter candy. I like the malted milk robin eggs, but can avoid buying any. No kids at home to have Easter baskets of candy.

Actually caring about the answer is the hardest part for me.

On weekdays I drink whichever kind of dark roast was a bargain at the discount grocery. I add either cashew milk or skim, sometimes with a splash of sugar free vanilla syrup. On weekends when I have time to enjoy it, it’s a freshly ground bean city roast from the Congo, with half and half.

I switch around, but my favorites are Old Bay, Penzeys Provence Herbs, various curry powders, smoked salt, garlic and more garlic, Chinese 5 spice and home made hot pepper sauces. Recently I made a batch of Moroccan preserved lemons that I love to chop over chicken breasts before baking.

Make sure that one sandwich isn’t considered to be two servings. That does sound too good to be true.

Wendy’s used to have a salad bar with celery seed salad dressing. It was kinda sweet and sour and it was my favorite thing they had

Definitely build your own and weigh all the ingredients. PB and banana my way is about 600 calories, so I stopped eating them, except as a special treat occasionally. I would be in big trouble if I used someone else's lower count and ate them all the time.

I've done it. I started here back when I was 57, and slowly lost around 50 pounds. I ended up taking a year off due to stress from family members illness, but am back at 60 to lose the last 20 pounds. It really is doable.

We make homemade sausage and I use the recipe builder to figure calories.

A lot of the buffets have marinated chicken thighs on skewers. They’re usually skinless and a sensible choice, even if they have a sweet sauce.

The local farmer's market has a candy stand, that makes sandwiches out of saltines and peanut butter, then coats them in dark chocolate. They're the perfect combination of salty and sweet.

Agreed. I lost 50+ pounds slowly over the course of a year and a half. Due to the stress and time constraints of helping care for my elderly father, I got stuck at the same weight around the end of March 2018, with 20 more pounds to go. It was too much to keep my head in the right place to lose, and still do what was…

Sugar free jello is only 10 calories per serving. It’s not the most delicious thing I’ve eaten, but it will do in a pinch.

We love beet greens and are sad when fresh beets are sold without them. Have you ever eaten lamb’s quarters? It’s a weed, but a tasty tasty weed. P
