  • Ehh, my stomach is kind of weird in the morning. And if I'm being totally honest, by 'my stomach is weird' I mean 'I have ADHD and Anxiety issues that make me extremely routine-driven and if it falls outside the category of breakfast food I can't bring myself to eat it before 10am'. So I could do something like breakfast…
  • Proud of you for sticking with it! I lasted an hour on keto. Carbs are life.
  • Is a negative where you start at the top and go down? I have this weird thing where my right elbow locks at a 90 degree angle when my arm is being pulled up or down, if that makes sense? Doesn't matter what position my hands are in. Also stops me from using a few machines. I used to be able to bypass it on the assisted…
  • Fitbit tries to measure how many calories it thinks you burned over your 'normal level of activity'. Basically, I'd wait 3-4 months for it to gather data before you go ahead eating back any of the extra calories you burned outside of dedicated exercise sessions. It will become more accurate with time.
  • I agree on the food scale. Weigh all of your food, don't go by cups/servings/whatever. Only go by grams/ounces. You'll be shocked how much you're eating!
  • My meal prep is 165g of jasmine rice, and 65g of frozen broccoli. I just throw both in the container I'm bringing to work, and put it in the fridge. By the time I leave the next morning the broccoli is frozen and ready for the microwave. Sometimes I put salt on it, sometimes hot sauce. I'm a bit of a boring eater, and not…
  • At midnight, go into the forest. In the forest you will see a circle of leaves. You'll know the one. In that circle there will be a pile of square stones. Remove the top one, take the one from below it, and replace the top one. Holding that second-to-top stone, do an ancient rain dance. Replace the stone and leave. Go back…
  • Sounds too variable to me. Your protein could be 8oz of chicken breast (236 calories) or 8oz of pork loin (549 calories). Your carb could be 200g plain white rice (260 calories) or 200g fettuccine alfredo (415 calories). You would end up having to count calories on the side, or mentally, anyway... so why not just count…
  • Thursday! It's been a while since I checked in. Invested in a Fitness happy planner, and bought the extra budgeting/expense tracker inserts to add to it. It's a book of the two things I want to improve most in my life, and it has made me feel more at ease. Thank god. Tried to do PIIT28 day 1 last night, but my boyfriend…
  • Happy Monday! I spent most of last night having a dream I was paying bills. They're all bills I really do need to take care of. That's how this monday is going! Finally did a deep clean of the bedroom and closet yesterday though, so I slept much more soundly, even if it was for such a dull dream. Made myself plain rice and…
  • I agree with harley2424! I'm a beer gal. If I have beer in my home, I will drink a few bottles a week. Which may not seem a lot, but when you're losing .5-1lb a week, it can destroy my deficit. Ugh. My s/o and I didn't drink it when it wasn't around for an entire month. If we wanted a drink, we had to go out to the bar and…
  • Hi Faye! I haven't even been able to start working out. I used to, once upon a time, when the timing was right and my schedule made it easy. Now I'm just losing purely by calorie deficit. I would love to hear how you all get yourselves to the gym. I had the discipline to do it once... Sam
  • Happy Tuesday! Today can be summed up by a rather short Buddy Wakefield poem: Sick White Beast I choose to politely ask myself to step aside if I am in my own way. If I do not get out of my own way I choose to call a friend who will have me removed. Have a lovely one, y'all.
  • Packersfan-- not sure if you meant that you wouldn't or would have to sync with your phone, but a Fitbit Charge HR does a pretty good calorie count, when synced properly with MFP!
  • Happy Monday! I think I put on a pound during the holidays. A combination of being sick, Thanksgiving, and being the only one in my apartment that is tasked with eating the leftover pies (isn't my life so hard? ) and I'm surprised it wasn't more! C'est la vie. On the plus side, my mom gave me potentially the best…
  • Thanks, Lana! One of our guests as celiacs so I'm partially kicking them out due to grumpiness and partially due to the gluten sanitation factor. (If you want a great example of slam poetry/spoken word poets, I'd recommend looking up Anis Mojgani on youtube. Or Buddy Wakefield!)
  • Happy Monday, y'all! Thought I'd check in. MFP and I haven't been getting along lately, but I've been losing weight nonetheless. Down a few more pounds. Slow progress is still progress. Thanksgiving is Thursday, and I'm cooking for six people, myself included. That'll be a chore. Told my boyfriend and roommate that they…
  • Google the calories for gumbo base and go from there?
  • I get one every year. I'm a strong believer in pack immunity, and the science behind the flu shot. And considering I don't have tons of PTO if I do get sick, if getting the shot puts me that much less at risk to wind up with the flu I will happily take it! Even if it does nothing, I'm willing to take that chance. My…
  • Candy is a problem for me, definitely. I second the freezer idea. It works great for gummy candies as well, like sour patch kids and gummy bears. You have to eat them slower, too, when they're frozen! I brought two bags of M&M's into the apartment for halloween, but that's it! And that's going to be split between me and 3…
  • Generally people don't do it if they have some sort of disordered eating pattern that means that food-based reward could cause an avalanche of bad choices. However, if you're like me and are lucky to not face those triggers and patterns, food-related rewards are totally fine.
  • I've only eaten pre-packaged food at work (with some exceptions) because I don't have a scale here and I wouldn't be making the food myself! Cafeteria meals? Hell no!
  • Update, because it has been over an hour so I can't modify my original post. My spread at the halloween potluck: 1 paper plate, 3/4 of which was salad with approx 1tbsp french vinaigrette and green peppers. 6 tortellini in red sauce, 6 fritos, 1 can of coke zero, and 1 bag of salt and vinegar kettle cooked chips which I…
  • Barbara's Puffins! A serving size is super small, but they have the right components.
  • Happy Monday/Halloween! Was going to go out partying last night but the littlest corgi got violently ill that morning. A trip to the emergency vet later they're not sure what was causing it but she's back to her normal self. Gotta love puppies, right? They'll eat anything, even if it tries to kill them... Exhausted and…
  • Here's my old recipe: 1/4 cup rolled oats 1/4 cup nonfat plain greek yogurt 1/4 cup milk 1/4 cup mixed frozen berries i'd layer them all in a small mason jar, put the lid on, and then in the morning pour in a packet of sweetener (equal, usually) and shake it up! Absolutely delicious. Just a bit out of my price range atm.…
  • Soaked chia seeds. BLEH. Looking at them is enough to make me nauseous.
  • Yes! It's actually a huge issue- some days I'm busy and running around the office building, up and down stairs and all around. And then other days I have absolutely no reason to move from my desk except during my lunch break. Usually mentally I start to get worn down by those latter days, so I end up taking a lot of 10-15…
  • Happy Tuesday! Literally not kidding when I say I have to have some change to jump-start actual calorie counting.. and then I fall out of my new-found inspiration and stall for x amount of time. Trying not to let that happen this time, but it's been going on for about the last week or 2. I've literally weighed 150.2 every…
  • Lana and Gem- Thanks for the advice. I won't turn it down in the future, but since she had already given me a probable cause, and I wasn't sure I could afford an EKG, I didn't want to go through with it at the time. Seemed like a lot. I've done them before, though. Had heart palpitations in high school and since I was on…
