Really focusing on picking up something to do with my hands in the evening to replace snacking/nibbles/glass of wine. This is the quiet time where I believe I subconsciously worry about any big or little thing and turn to food to calm the worry.

@brarautorepairs I struggle with emotional eating and find food comforting as so many of my happiest childhood memories are associated with family get togethers that included lots of food. It's very hard to mentally pull back when reaching for that icecream drumstick and search inside at what I'm feeling at the moment.…

Welcome to MFP! I've had a iifetime struggle with weight loss. Have had success and then troubles maintaining after several years. This is my go to for getting back to losing. Continuing to track helps me maintain. It's when I stop tracking that I start creeping back up. Good luck! :star:

I'm fairly good now at putting off a craving and while I've not tried this yet, thought I'd share. I work in a hospital and recently overheard a therapist suggest to a smoker who was trying to quit, to look at trying a "delay" not "deny" tactic. He told her when she craves a cigarette to set the timer on her phone for 10…

Down 15 lbs since first of year. Mini goal to lose 8 lbs over next 6 weeks. We have a week vacation planned then - camping at beach.

I'm certainly not an expert, but my thoughts are that with your current weight, you will loose at 1400 calories a day. I have to be so careful I don't BLT (bite, lick, taste) as this really sabotages my plan.

@moontyrant Way to go! Congrats on your success!

The journey is the destination. Sounds like you're experiencing ups and downs and meeting those challenges. Great job! You can sou it!

Just what I needed to read this morning as I begin this journey AGAIN. I've done it before, but my discipline slacked and bad habits returned.

Got the kettle bell in today. For tomorrow, it's limit myself to one beer at our Wed night out with friends! I struggle to sip slowly when we're sitting at the bar for a couple hours enjoying good conversation.
-
Did not get home from work until after dark so didn't get a dog walk in, but did do 20 min of exercise. Kettle bell tomorrow.
-
Didn't take the dog with us, but did walk around the mall. Sounds like it will be nice tomorrow so will take Rocky out for a walk after work.
-
you're doing great! The hard work shows!
-
Didn't quite get in the workout is hoped. Taking down 3 Christmas trees, all other decorations and helping to push a car that wasn't running made up for some of it. Is to be nice tomorrow and plan to get long walk in woth DH and dog.
-
Did it! Only one drink this Friday night! Tomorrow is very busy AND I will get in a workout.
-
Well, got busy and forgot about checking -in ladt eve to post and put goal gouge next day. I did it - used stairs all day! Tomorrow I will limit myself to one cocktail. I tend to have 2 on Friday eve.
-
Hoping this will be ok with the group. I'm going to jot a goal for the next day and report in every evening. That and using the stairs at work throughout the day tomorrow are my goals for tomorrow.

This touched my heart today. I've been stalled out for 9 months. Seeing you pull your prior post and re-ignite the fire motivates me to get back into being diligent about CICO. That is truly what it takes! Thanks for posting!

You say you're counting calories. Be sure not to estimate/guess portion size. Need to weigh solids and measure liquids. There's a great link in the start up line which shows how failing to correctly capture portions is r/t lack of weight loss.

SW 235 GW 160 LW 208 TW 208 STUCK!!! I do weigh food "most" of the time, but notice the overall lack of dillegence (licking the almond butter spoon, having just another spoonful of soup) I know many of these slips over the course of time take a toll on any deficit I've made. Going to start jotting notes in the diary…

SW 235 GW 160 LW 208 TW 208 - 0 Was able to log and stay in deficit this week. Also got in 3 days of exercise. Feeling very good about this ' even if didn't see the scale go down!

@dramaqueen45 "The key is to not ignore the fact that your clothes are getting tighter and get back on it when you do gain a bit." Spoke to me. You are spot on! I'm learning not to wait for a specific # on the scale to push me into action, but being aware of the little changes a few pounds can make.
