  • Perimenopause!! I feel this so hard right now. I started moving into perimenopause 7 years ago. I had always been fit and at a healthy weight. I was running marathons and out of nowhere the weight started coming on fast. I’ve worked a trainer and dietitian, my doctor, weight loss clinics, and my weight won’t budge. I…
  • Currently reading Slewfoot by Brom. Perfect spooky season read!
  • I had a mini break down yesterday morning. Thankfully I was able to call my bestie who reassured me that I am not alone and that simple tasks for moms tend to get shoved aside. For me, it was a lack of shower. I work in an urgent care setting with crazy hours. I was supposed to work 10-6 Monday and Tuesday. I didn't know…
  • I really like Primal Kitchen dressings. They are avocado based so good on the healthy fats. The downside is that if you like to drench they are 120cals for 2tbs. The upside is, a little goes a long way. I only use 1tbs.
  • I steer clear of the harsher things only because both of my kids have asthma and my son really seems to flare up when he gets a whiff of the fumes. At 16 and 12, my kids are old enough to help with chores, so I do my best to find brands that won't send them into coughing fits. Grove is my go to for cleaning lately. I have…
  • I have a Corgi/Blue Heeler mix. It's pretty dang adorable!
  • Yes! This! The lady I am working with has a PhD in bio-chemistry and before that was a psycho-therapist. She has a TON of knowledge beyond what a typical nutritionist will have. Much different than walking into my local grocery store and working with a nutritionist. It really does make a difference.
  • Finding someone who will actively listen to what you are telling them in so important. I know that hopeful feeling. As soon as my labs came back it was validating. Getting a plan in place was a great feeling. I hope you get answers!
  • Thank you. I am hoping so as well. In the short term, I am day 5 into my food overhaul. I have weaned off coffee which is the one thing I was sad to give up, but everything else has been pretty good. I'm not finding it too hard (yet) to get past cravings because I am staying pretty satisfied with the meals and snacks I can…
  • 08/01: Walked 1 mile 08/02: 50 Minutes Cycle Fusion (spin meets bootcamp) 2.75 treadmill miles 08/03: N/A 12 hour shift 08/04: 3 miles Ended up getting a few miles in later last night. It was a busy day! The weather is just about perfect for the moment. It’ll be blazing again next week though. I intended to run, but my…
  • Hi, my name is Vanessa and this is my second go at losing weight. The first time I lost I don't even know what my starting weight was, but I was wearing the same pant size as I am now. I got down to 162lbs, then I got lazy again. This time around has been MUCH harder. For a month I have been bouncing between the same 5lbs.…
  • 08/01: Walked 1 mile 08/02: 50 Minutes Cycle Fusion (spin meets bootcamp) 2.75 treadmill miles 08/03: N/A 12 hour shift Thanks everyone for the good thoughts. My daughter came back to my house yesterday and is doing well. She was able to hold her grandmas hand through the end, and was able to grieve with her family. My dad…
  • @AlphaHowls sounds like you have a lot on your plate! I hope the implant goes well and that you are let off jury duty. I've only had to go once. That was enough for me. @skippygirlsmom where did you go in Florida? I grew up down there. Nice score on the bike! @pfeiferlindsey 90 miles is still amazing! Good luck with…
  • Hi everyone! It's been a while. The last week of July was rough emotionally. My daughter was in Florida spending the summer with my family, and her dad called me asking me if I could get her back here ASAP because his mother was going into organ failure. It was a mess getting her back here because she was currently across…

  • Starting weight: 205.2lbs July goal: 198lbs Ultimate goal: 140lbs Height: 5’7” 7/6:205.2- first day back from vacation, and the highest weight I’ve been at for a long time. I know some of this is travel bloat, but I weighed before flying and was still sitting about 7lbs over what I was when I left. I indulged, and I don’t…
  • @quilteryoyo I used a Gymboss Minimax interval timer. It let's you program and save multiple interval's. I clipped it to the inside pocket of whatever pants I was running in. It has a pretty decent alarm on it, so when I was training for really long runs, I would zip it into the pouch of my waste band water bottle holder.
  • @quilteryoyo yes, that is my pace as well. It was really hard to get used to when I first started, but for the longer runs I actually improved my pace overall.
  • @quilteryoyo here is the link for the run/walk/run method http://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/magic-mile/ I am not currently using that since I am not training at the moment for a race. Right now, I just do what I feel like doing and listen to my body. However, I will be registering for the HM in my city for April as well…

  • Updates including from over the weekend. I'm patting myself on the back for waking up before my shift today to get some miles in. I have 3 hours left to go, and I'm feeling a little tired, but not too bad. We'll see how I feel tomorrow morning though! I wish I could be a consistent early riser, but my long shifts kick my…

  • Hi everyone! Hope things are well. I need to go back and catch up. I dropped my phone the other day, and even though I didn't crack the screen, I somehow dislodged a wire or two and there's certain areas of my screen that are unresponsive. I am checking in from my boyfriends phone so I could log some info. I did get a…
  • I dropped my phone and even though I didn't crack the screen I can't type certain letters/numbers on my keyboard, so I haven't been able to check in! I continue to fluctuate all over the place though :( Starting weight: 205.2lbs July goal: 198lbs Ultimate goal: 140lbs Height: 5’7” 7/6:205.2- first day back from vacation,…
  • In Nebraska things have been normal to cool. We have our hot days here and there, but it's not been too bad this summer. Highs in the upper 80's and lows in the lower 60's.
  • @quilteryoyo hahah! The margarita stand is at the end, so thankfully at that point it's just a leisurely walk across the finish line (unless you want to run it the entire way of course). @katharmonic do you enjoy having a group to train with? There are several in my area, but my schedule doesn't ever seem to mesh with…

  • sun burnt from all the nakedenss happening
  • I'll run for wine and beer. I like a good sour myself. Dogfish Head Sea Quench Ale is my biggest running motivator. That said, I couldn't drink 4 in a day, but if it's working well for you and you aren't driving, you enjoy that pour!
