I feel you @ContraryMaryMary I didn't feel well on this morning's run either. Glad a nap helped.
Stomach felt really queasy this morning, but got 7 miles in. Felt bloated and sick the whole time until the last couple of miles. Weighed myself before getting in the shower and I was about 4lbs heavier than just the other day, so I wasn't imagining it. By the time I got to work I felt better. Just have to chalk it up to one of those days.

Today was scheduled to be an early rise with a 90 minute long run at Z2 effort.
But yesterday afternoon when I got up from my desk I noticed a discomfort on the forward part of my heel, something I had only noticed on my first few steps the very first thing in the mornings over perhaps the last couple weeks. I think I jokingly wondered if it might be PF, only to then wonder and Google about it, and learn that it most certainly appears that way. Albeit a mild case as it had only affected me as described, and never while running or walking during the day.
So I have been wearing cushy shoes since (retired pair of Brooks Glycerin) and taking ibuprofen.
I figured my 90 minute long run was not so sensible all things considered, so slept in. When I woke this morning I felt the discomfort on my first few steps but it seemed milder already (maybe wishful thinking).
I also considered doing a regular 45 minute easy run in that normal timeslot until seeing the forecast, storms are rolling in as I type this, with the only possible clearing bring noonish when I would try to normally fit in a walk. So I'm taking this as a cue from the universe to just walk today (weather permitting).9 -
@quilteryoyo hahah! The margarita stand is at the end, so thankfully at that point it's just a leisurely walk across the finish line (unless you want to run it the entire way of course).
@katharmonic do you enjoy having a group to train with? There are several in my area, but my schedule doesn't ever seem to mesh with theirs. If I get this new job I applied for, I'll have normal working hours which will help.
@sweetdaisy13 ouch! Sorry that happened to you. Hopefully that stinging has subsided!

@scott6255 Running on a sour stomach is rough. Good on you for getting that in! Hopefully things settle soon.
@WhatMeRunning when I injured my foot, I torn the PF tendon. That is what has lead to all of my issues. I did go through PT and have been strengthening it, but the area you are feeling in is exactly where my foot tends to hurt. Somedays are better than others. I am really trying to avoid having to get shots in my foot. My PT also recommended a Magnesium supplement to help. I've only just started that, so can't speak to it it's working or not. Hopefully yours works itself out!5 -

@Zoomie402 I do really enjoy group training, that's what got me into running and keeps me going. I started doing a walk-to-run group training with the same coach about 5 or 6 years ago (can't figure out dates right now) and just kept going into the regular run groups and then the HM/marathon training group. I can't make myself run hard by myself so having a weekly group to go to gets it done and I like the camaraderie. Every week I don't want to go, the workout sounds too hard, I complain. But I do it and I'm always glad I did.

Today I went to strength training then met a friend to run right after. We ran on the canal trail and it was hot because there is very little shade in this section. We should have picked something else but I needed to be close to the gym to make it on time. There were so many bikes on the trail today it was tough to know when they were coming up on you, although most did say on your left or passing. Most were very friendly as they passed and we found out it as a big group ride apparently from Buffalo to Albany - 400 miles across NY state7 -

Morning run was screwed up, didn’t have any meetings until 9:00 I thought I could sleep until 7 so I did, then checked email and had a meeting at 8 that someone dropped at 9:00 last night, so I decided to walk the dogs since I would have no time to run, every freaking person in our neighborhood was on the road, what a mess ha ha Might just take a rest day
@Avidkeo sorry aren’t feeling it right now, I know sometimes it’s really hard to get out the door. What if you find a 5K race that’s coming up to run, you are more than trained for it and maybe that bit of competition will get you motivated again. Or stop training, just run, take off the watch for a week and don’t think about distance just slow down and enjoy a slow paced whenever you feel like stopping run.

Today’s run didn’t seem quite as hot and humid as yesterday. We met at a different place so it was nice to have a different route.
@quilteryoyo – I also think the dizzy feeling might be dehydration. I normally don’t care a water bottle with me for runs under 5 miles EXCEPT during the summer, especially when the humidity is so high. I know it seems silly but try carrying one and aim to take at least a sip every mile. When your watch beeps or signals the end of the mile, it’s a good reminder to take a drink.
Glad you didn’t have any serious injury from your fall @sweetdaisy13. Those nettles sound painful enough.

@WhatMeRunning – I have a friend coming back from PF and she swears by sleeping in a certain sock (not sure if it is a Strassburg or another type), getting a steroid shot, and wearing Chacos anytime she was on her feet. She did this for a couple of weeks and has seen a dramatic improvement. I believe @Scott6255 recently battled it for almost a year so I’m sure he has some good advice.
@katharmonic – Your mention of the 400-mile bike ride reminded me of a couple of guys that were carrying their bikes through the Grand Canyon. Apparently there is a challenge to bike the entire Arizona trail which runs through the Grand Canyon. Biking is not allowed in the Grand Canyon so participants have to carry their bikes from rim to rim!

Yesterday I felt fine while running, just hot & humid. I didn't push the pace, and had plenty of water. I even turned at one point to go back up a long hill, instead of continuing on to the shorter, flatter route home. Afterwards I had a protein shake and took a shower, but felt awful and ended up taking a nap and pushing my work tasks until later. Maybe it's the hot weather (air conditioning isn't really a thing here), the humidity and storm front that was moving in, or maybe I'm still getting over the cold. Probably all of the above. I feel fine today and it's a few degrees cooler, but am taking a rest day just to be sure.
@MobyCarp (Kevin) was a legend here, great stories, advice... I miss him, too. He definitely died doing what he loved.6 -

@WhatMeRunning– Yes as @Teresa502 mentioned, I had PF last year right around this same time, and the 3 years prior to that! It traded feet each year, but each time it lasted right at 1 year (sorry, don't want to scare you...I'm sure I am just an outlier). I didn't know about the Strassburg sock until a few months ago, and recommended it to my twin brother who is going through PF right now. He wore it for 3 weeks every night, and he said it worked well (improved enough for him to start running again). So IF I ever get it again I will try the Strassburg sock. I bought it a couple months ago in a panic when I started feeling the onset of it coming back in my right foot. I only wore it for about 3 nights, but not sure if that was the cure. Could have been new shoes, or the calf exercises I started doing again (I had got lazy and stopped doing them for a few weeks prior), or something else.
But I have been PF free for a little over a year now, and I am pretty sure it is due to continued, consistent strength training for prevention (single-leg calf raises, single-leg squats, single-leg bridges, clamshells, foam rolling from hips to ankles).
For treatment during PF, I use a golf ball and roll it under my feet twice a day, foam roll at least once a day, and walk at least 60 minutes every day. The strength training probably should only be done when you don't have pain while walking.
Sorry for the long-winded answer, but I hope you don't go though everything I had to go through, and yours starts feeling better soon. Good luck!!!5 -

I was able to do a 66 minute walk today pain free.
I may very well order some of those Strassburg socks just to be sure.
I also checked out some stretches and exercises to work into routines.
The hard part right now is wondering how long I should stop running, or if I can run at a reduced load (and if so what that might be). My initial thinking was that if I was able to do today's walk pain free, and also wake up tomorrow with it feeling improved (that seems to be when it has any sort of pain level) that maybe I could attempt an easy run, and continue playing it day by day looking to feel better each day.
I'm not sure if I need PT at this point, but then again I've never had PF before either so not sure exactly how much I'm playing with fire even if it feels like such a minor nuisance right now.
BTW - I don't expect an answer here - don't think I'm pressuring for doctor level advice or anything, just sitting here wondering aloud about all this. If you have thoughts to share I'll definitely listen though.4 -

@Teresa502 Re: carrying water on short runs. When it’s cool out, I carry a little 5 oz bottle on my long runs because I can also swing by some strategic water fountains in my neighborhood. Once the temps get into the mid 70’s with humidity like ours, I carry it on every single run, even my little 3 milers. I sip some, swish and spit some, and straight pour some over my head when I can’t find sprinklers! Even with the water fountains, it’s just nice to not have to rely on them and be able to sip when I want. I see people running in the dead of summer without water here and I honestly don’t know how they do it. I have weighed myself before and after running and even though I am drinking while running, I will sweat off 2-5 lbs of water weight in the summer here. It’s nuts!
@WhatMeRunning I hope your PF feels better! My husband also had a few rounds with PF. It took a long time for him to completely recover and now if her feels the slightest twinge he starts panicking that it’s coming back.3 -

@WhatMeRunning just from my own (vast) experience, taking time off running never had any effect for PF. But backing off on pace and mileage would be greatly adviced.4

I was so tired yesterday I forgot to post my run. I ran 5.25 miles yesterday and 5.3 today. The weather has really been nice this week. It's still July, but it's been pleasant for summer. I also really enjoy running when it is getting light in the mornings. My new shoes came in yesterday afternoon, so I got to wear them today. I always like new shoes runs. I saw the fox again today. He was sort of coming down the road in my direction and he stopped to look at me for a minute. Then I guess he decided not to keep coming my direction and he took off. Then when I got to the park I saw a lady walking with a dog. I have seen her before but never with a dog. I was surprised that he was off leash, but when I passed them she said he wasn't her dog and then he followed me home. He was pretty friendly. I hope he made it home. He was wearing a collar but no tags.
I haven't had a chance to read the thread yet. Things have been really busy at work. But I am going to go back and read it now.

4.6 mile run early this morning at 6am. I very rarely run before work, but it's a hot day today, so better to run early than in the heat this afternoon.
@Teresa502 Hope you don't mind but I have just joined the 'Run the World' challenge (my profile picture is a Daisy). I have another ultra marathon in September and hoping the extra training mileage will help. Synced my Garmin and it's now showing that we are 4 miles ahead of pace.

Cloudy, a couple of raindrops, muggy, low 70s F, and no wind. Felt sluggish at the beginning, but better at the end.

So far the shoes, ibuprofen and golf ball are helping tremendously. I had no pain in my foot after waking up this morning, although I don't think it is 100% yet either.
I am wondering if being homebound so much since COVID is partly to blame as I spend the vast majority of daily hours wearing only socks in a house with hardwood floors and my office downstairs with a concrete floor. It really felt like just wearing my old running shoes throughout yesterday and the afternoon prior made a huge improvement. And the golf ball felt like a dream, of course.
Since tomorrow is a normally scheduled rest day, I took today off of running as well and will test things out on Sunday so long as things don't regress. It won't be the originally planned 2.5 hour long run, but will be something to test things out. Maybe just 30-45 minutes, maybe longer if it feels fine. I have no idea right now, but will update when it happens!8 -

Uneventful morning run. Planning to go to yoga class at lunch. Fitness classes are back in our work-site gyms but are very limited in number, for those who have been vaccinated, and for employees only (pre-COVID retirees and their spouses could attend). Last time I went to class it was just three of us including the instructor. Both of us attendees were runners so the instructor made it a runners yoga workout.

I finally got out for a run today (a full week later). Monday was the let's make sure I'm not sick day, and I felt back to normal so I was going to go out Tuesday morning. I woke up and felt like I hadn't slept. So then I was like I will go out Wednesday. Woke up to thunder an hour before my alarm. Still going to go out until it started lightning a lot and very close (a house about two blocks away caught fire when it was struck by lightning). I would have went once it let up but I had an appraisal person coming. Until he canceled. So I ended up doing 20 minutes on the bike before work. Thursday I had to go into the office so I don't run.
It was a week. LOL I did 3 miles this morning. 6 was scheduled but I was like I'll do 3-4. I took a few walk breaks. 86 degrees and 60% humidity at 5 am9 -

Another morning run, this time on the trails around lakes. It was quite a bit cooler today and cloudy. It's supposed to rain all weekend so I should have run longer to take advantage but I didn't have the willpower today.
Did some work from home today in between periods of working on cleaning up my yard. This I definitely did want to try to get in on a cooler dry day. I ended up cleaning out my gutters which was much needed but not very enjoyable. I'm having a little party in my backyard next week so trying to get it at least presentable, but not aiming for impressive. Lots more cleaning and party prep to do this weekend.6 -
I was all fired up to do a good run this morning but it was raining and I used up all my esprit de run on braving the weather so my run had lots of walking.
@WhatMeRunning Great to hear your heel feels a lot better. Yes, I find walking on hard floors barefoot painful.
