Garmin Vivofit. Can buy with or without HRM. Uses a watch battery so no need to charge. You can set your steps ( measure a distance out, write down your step count before you start, walk the distance write down the step count, subtract starting amount. Enter the # of steps and distance in the custom settings

Yup. I don't go to the gym but I run or workout in the morning or it doesn't happen. Maybe you need to try something different. Biking, running, swimming....

Mine varies as well. I have my goal set to my BMR, 1490, then add in my exercise calories. I eat somewhere in between those numbers.

Asthma is not something to play around with. I use my inhaler 15 min before exercise, it does help. I always carry it with me when running. Though not often, asthma attacks can be fatal, pay out of pocket for a visit and inhaler.

I use Runkeeper to track my miles. Calorie wise it is close to what MFP estimates if you manually enter. I just use them as a guideline. Like Carson said, HRM is most accurate. Everything else is just an estimate.

Had a labral tear in 2010 that required arthroscopic hip surgery after months of failed PT and Cortisone shots. Spent 7 weeks on crutches and more time in PT. Summer 2012 I herniated a disc bending over to tie my shoe. Getting old sucks.

Just slow down. Make sure you are running at a conversational pace. You will be amazed how far/long you can run.

OK this may sound totally stupid and if so, forgive. Me. Can you get a dog? To keep you company on the road. I know it isn't the same as human companionship but..... you wouldn't be alone. Someone else would be relying on you. He/she would need walks forcing you to stop and get little walks in once in a while.

No gym membership here. No time to drive to workout. Mostly now I run. Love running. If the weather is awful I hop on the Elliptical or aDVD. Jillian Michaels can kick your @&& in 30 min or less. Her DVD's run around $10 and you just need hand weights. No fee's, no locker room / shower issues.

Thanks. I was just doing body weight squats. Feet a bit more than hip distance apart. Weight on my heels. Going as deep as I could. Parallell to floor or lower. Knees over ankles.
