  • I went almost gluten free............obvious things but don't check labels for smaller amounts as I am not celiac. My doctor was over the moon when I had bloodwork done later. My blood sugar dropped quite a lot just with the reduction in carbs. Not saying you should do it but carbs are equivalent to sugar in the body…
  • Finally I find someone that does not like sweet things in the morning!! If I don't have eggs (sometimes with a bit of thin sliced luncheon meat or gf bread) leftovers work for me. Not salads but other goodies. Today was a few new potatoes with a bit of chicken and onion, sauteed in a little coconut oil. A little heavy for…
  • I talked to my Dr. before going "almost" gluten free. I promised not to read every label to look for minute amounts. Yes, I eat corn chowder and other things that have used flour for thickener, when I didn't make it. However, it does keep me from eating the obvious things like bread, pasta and most desserts. My…
  • I have granddaughters your age and even a bit older. Called one a "Princess" one day to her mother. You sound like her lol. I have asthma, have had for many years. You can still do some exercise, even if it is not running. Also, you say you are vegan and yet you do not seem to understand that your body needs certain…
  • Thanks, sounds close to what I make, but am lazy, don't do the recipe. Will try this. Have a great weekend
  • I used to be in extreme pain from leg cramps. Nothing seemed to work. Finally a Dr. told me to try quinine capsules. Apparently they have since found out that is not as innocent a pill as previously thought. However, it worked for me much to my relief!! When I got sick four years ago and went on blood thinners, the Dr. at…
  • I have a grandson with the same kind of eating disorder. He eats basically the same things every day. Only a couple of veggies like carrots and lettuce...............only raw of course. For years he would not eat chocolate, which is not a bad thing, but he does now. His mother actually introduced rice to him one grain at a…
  • Thanks for the recipe. I will have to try this when I have company. Would be great with a salad for lunch I think.
  • Thanks for posting this. I just was mentioning that I have a grill and haven't used it for a long time. Need to try it out again. I have a BBQ but right now, encased in snow!
  • My granddaughter is a student. Her breakfasts are usually smoothies. If you can get a bullet blender, they are easy to clean up. She keeps the ingredients on hand and breakfast just takes minutes and she is off with it in a travel mug.
  • I had the same thing happen. Good enough that my Dr. agreed to take me off the low dose pills I was taking for cholesterol for the last three years. I will go back to be checked in six months so hopefully it will still be good. Mine is mostly diet as I am not able to do much exercise. Keep it up!!
  • Among other things my d in l always makes a cinnamon thing to be ready to bake in the morning. You use frozen bun dough and mix in pudding powder, cinnamon and such. It thaws and rises overnight and smells wonderful in the morning when it is baking. I am sure you could find a recipe on the internet. Then she does fresh…
  • You have been incredibly patient with all these replies. I can understand your frustration. Your husband likes to take you out and that is wonderful, but sabotaging you is not so good. It is hard to resist temptation almost on a daily basis and falling off the diet wagon is not an option at this point after all your hard…
  • Come to Western Canada. The Rockies never disappoint anyone in the snow department. Great skiing, accommodations wonderful scenery.
  • Patrick, you have been given all kinds of help on here and you continue to eat the stuff that is very high in fat and sodium I know it was suggested to you by someone that lost a lot of weight, to buy a rotisserie chicken, even if you eat the whole thing for a meal, rather than some of the stuff you do eat. Fruit and…
  • Thanks for the easy recipe. I am going to stuff some red peppers tonight with the mix. When you cook for one, I don't like to spend a lot of time and have a ton of leftovers, this will work great. I have not done a lot of meatless meals but I love beans.
  • I had severe leg cramps and the Dr.put me on a quinine capsule. Worked really well. However, when I had to go on blood thinners the Dr. at that time said no more quinine. I panicked then but I find as long as I drink lots of water I am okay but the days that I don't I have a problem although not as bad as they used to be.…
  • Look how nice your neck is now!!!
  • I have a friend on ww and she says you can have up to 8 cups of fruit and veggies a day. One fruit is one cup sort of. That said, she limits her fruit to two a day and the rest veggies. Makes sense. I asked her how you get 8 cups in a day and she says that 6 cups of veggies is not that hard with a salad and a stirfry for…
  • The sodium content of canned food is very high and I sometimes think that being processed like that, not as good nutritionally as frozen or fresh. How about stir fries? They do use fresh veggies but a lot less meat. Top that on noodles, rice, or pasta and you have a decent priced supper with lots of nutrients. My family…
  • I am older than you and I know if I get this weight off, I will not ever wear shorts!!!! My legs are full of horrid veins, never mind saggy skin!!! And my face is haggard now!!! To me you look pretty darn good. Some of the skin may tighten up, and ten miles a day!!!! You are doing well, smile and be proud of your…
  • Go shopping girl!!! It will give you such a boost. Even thrift shops have some good clothes, takes a bit of effort to look through. You don't need to spend a lot but get rid of the baggy stuff and move on forward
  • With the amount of exercise you manage to do almost daily, I don't see any problem with you maintaining. If, however, you slack off (been there and done it years ago) the weight will start creeping back. You have a huge commitment to this and I am sure you will do well.
  • I am happy with MFP, and the price is right. We have a great support system on here.
  • I don't believe bread turns to fat, more likely sugar in the body. However, my giving up gluten (not every little speck), has helped me to control my carbs and my Dr. is very pleased with the results. I am down in weight but not by magic from lack of bread. I eat more fruit and veggies to replace the carbs I was eating…
  • I was on prescription medication for acid reflux too and it went away within a week or so of cutting out most gluten from the diet. Forgot about that. I have not taken the pills since.
  • My granddaughter inspired me to try the gluten free way. My Dr. thought it would be good as long as I did not go totally into it, e.g. soya sauce and other minuscule amounts. My blood sugar was starting to rise a bit, so in September we will see if there is a difference. The Dr. is pretty sure there will be. By not eating…
  • Stay strong. You are on the right track and the focus is "not my fault". I used to cave under that kind of pressure but finally not anymore. My SO keeps telling me I am "addicted" to this website and keeps saying it is unnecessary. However, it is what keeps me going and the trend is downward, albeit slowly. So, just keep…
