Did the Metformin help with weight loss or did you lose through other means?

I agree with everyone about increasing your calorie intake. I also want to encourage you to do so with whole, natural foods - fruits, veggies, whole grains, seeds and nuts. I wish you great health!

I do something similar and it's delicious. I take a small brown paper bag, fold the top down twice (because at some point it tips over and I want to be sure the kernels stay in). For my microwave, I use a 1/4 c. of corn and it only takes about 2 to 2 1/2 minutes to finish. I then hit it with some cooking spray, touch of…

Yahoo! That is a great feeling. I am cheering for you. I would do a fist pump but I just look stupid when I do that - even online. :)

Right this minute I'm an apple and baby carrots. So does that mean I'm a baby apple?

Good for you AprilVerhagen! Instead of letting his feelings and your busy life get you down, you found a way to turn it into a positive. Going to the gym at lunch is an excellent solution.

Congrats - you have every reason to be excited! :)

I just ate there the other night. It was yummy. I got the all-you-can-eat soup and salad. I got the salad with light italian on the side. I ate the croutons but I'll avoid those the next time. Their light italian dressing is actually quite delicious. I had minestrone soup, which I always enjoy. If you want pasta, capellini…

I agree!!!! I saw her on TV one day (I think it was something on PBS but I'm not sure). She is an amazing role model.

I haven't had a chance to read all of the comments in this post so forgive me if this is redundant. The best book ever on frugality (imho) is "The Complete Tightwad Gazette" by Amy Dacyczyn. Some of the information is slightly dated now. However, her positive attitude, humor and mindset is priceless (get it - priceless?…

Welcome! One way to choose friends is to read some of the forums on topics of interest to you. You can then connect with those that are similar to you. Personally, I am looking for kind, positive and supportive folks. Best of luck! Feel free to add me.

I'm listening to one of his books on cd now. I think the distinction here is between weight loss and health. Those two things may or may not be connected, depending on how one goes about it. He says often in this cd that his purpose is not weight loss - that is just a happy by-product. He is focused on disease prevention…

I <3 this post. Thank you!

Note to self: Buy a pedometer now that you just agreed to do this. :D

"The Harder I Work, the Luckier I Get" - Samuel Goldwyn The last time I lost weight I let the repeated, "You look SO much better." comment really, really bother me. This time, I'm trying to focus on the intention behind the compliment. If they are stumbling yet genuine, I thank them. I am in this to become healthier every…

I've been vegetarian since 1989. :)

For me, it's not either/or. I take some of both. MFP is very WW friendly. I set my preferences so that, when I track a food, I see the items needed to also track the Points. The WW online site is not as user friendly as MFP so I let that go. MFPs database of foods is truly amazing. I go to WW meetings once a month or so…

Vegan pizza, corn and watermelon. YUM!

Peanut butter and banana sandwich. You can bring along apples and baby carrots to round it out.

Congrats! Ever day sober is a miracle. Celebrate how far you've come!

^ This sounds good. I hope you post it!

^ Agreed. Fungus. Gross.

^ This. When I first joined MFP, I was very concerned about potassium because it appeared I was so low. Then I learned that US nutrition labels do not require it to be listed. Therefore, we are getting more than we know. That was good news. The bad news for me is that I found out from my physician that I, in fact, was low…

Good for you for being so in tune and empathetic with her. My suggestion is that you look at the way you speak about yourself. Do you say things that you would never say to your best friend, mother, sister or daughter? If so, then you don't deserve to be the brunt of those comments either - even (especially) from yourself.…

Thank you for sharing the tangible health benefits that you have seen from your weight loss. So many folks focus just on the number on the scale. Your story inspires me!
