Tom Yum is good, or any other broth based soup. As the above poster mentioned, avoid coconut milk and anything fried. No curry. Papaya salad and grilled meats are also safe bets. No Thai Iced Tea or Coffee!

I would track the calories of the whole food you juiced (for example, if you juiced a carrot, track it as a whole carrot) minus the fiber, since that is mostly what you're losing when you juice. I think that's a close as you're gonna get.

@Jane - You're in California so you should be able to find nutrition information at all major chain restaurants now :-)

This is what I was going to recommend. Also called a French Press. But like others have said, you can also get a cheap $10 coffee maker and just keep it in your office. Starbucks Via tastes fine but can be expensive if you're not used to spending regular money on coffee.

I find I feel less gassy/bloated when I limit carbonated beverages in general, so I limit my diet cokes :-)

Thanks for the pic. With recipes like this it can be scary to try them, but these look GOOD, like REAL pancakes!

Another factor is the fact that we are used to seeing bigger and bigger people as a daily normal (2/3 of Americans are technically obese, I say technically because it's based on BMI, which only tells part of the story), so people who are only a little bit "overweight" don't really look overweight anymore. People tell me…

Nope, heat doesn't increase calorie burn. But it takes much more effort = more calorie burn to do that outdoor run than it does to run on a treadmill.

I have annoyingly high arches (hard time finding shoes...), maybe that's why I lost that much.

I never thought I had fat feet or anything but I used to be a size 9.5 and now, 80lbs lighter, I'm a size 8. I'm 5'7" if that makes any difference. I know my fingers got smaller as well but I don't know what size I used to be, but my ring finger is a size 4.5 now.

I have a whole healthy Hawaiian food cookbook at home, so I will look later today if you haven't found anything yet and I can post a recipe or two.

I second the trip to the doctor first. I think the idea of him working out with you is fabulous, but kids have different needs with exercise and there are limitations based on growth as the above poster mentioned.

I did a great hike with some friends in Muir Woods a few weeks back. Did about 10 miles, took 6 hours. Had a great day and the weather was perfect :-) Plan to go hiking again in a couple weeks, probably at Lake Berryessa.

Lots of veggies, lean meats, and most of the soups are low cal as well. Avoid fried items. Everything will be high in sodium, that's pretty unavoidable at those kinds of places.

If you're working out right before bedtime that could messing with your ability to sleep. Try to do your workouts earlier in the day and see if that helps.

I have large pupils, I didn't know anyone even noticed that stuff.

Yep, don't weight yourself during this time. You'll just make yourself crazy for no reason.

I love pecan pie...but only the filling. I scoop the nuts off the top and suck the filling off of them and spit them out, then scoop out the insides, leaving a pile of nuts and the crust leftover.

No matter how educated people are about healthy eating, exercise and weight loss, they won't lose weight until they are READY for it. No one (well, very few people) who are overweight want to be, but until they are ready to make the changes, no amount of advice will make them change.

This is interesting but would be more interesting and provide better information if it was based on BMI and not weight.

I love putting oats into my protein shakes, it adds a great flavor and makes it really filling. I just put it in dry.

Weird question - has anyone every successfully done a savory overnight oatmeal?

If you have good medical insurance you are usually covered to see a registered dietitian, who is the best person qualified to help you. If you can find one with a specialty/experience working with athletes that is the best. If your insurance doesn't cover this benefit, there are dietitians who offer online services that…

I'd start with something very small and work your way up. Your body may not be used to eating breakfast so it may take some time to change that. You can start with half a piece of fruit if that's all you can take, then just work up slowly.

I pay attention to the quality of my carb/sugar choices, not the actual number of grams. I try to limit added/processed stuff.

I usually keep a container of egg whites at home as well as a carton of whole eggs for when I want those. You can also use your egg yolks on your plants (just mix with a bit of water and pour it on the soil), it provides them lots of nutrients! As a side note, you can also use your egg shells with your plant soil or mix it…

Roasted at about 400 F until browned then I serve them with a balsamic reduction :-)

I use cucumber slices all the time. Maybe firm type or baby tomatoes?
