  • And as others above have stated -- pick yourself up, brush off, and get back into your routine. You cannot avoid life when you fall off the wagon or you will be living life on the sidelines. It's OK to mess up and make mistakes. It doesn't make you a bad person - you have your whole life ahead of you. It's a tough, up-hill…
  • Also - what kind of foods do you typically eat? Sometimes a certain food might be a trigger for binging. Also, when you get the urge to binge, start trying to see what is "eating" you -- are you stressed, upset, sad, etc., Once you know your triggers (or some of them), you can begin to find alternate ways to deal with them.
  • I would not tell him - just tell him you have been ill or are having some health issues. People who don't have eating disorders don't understand - they think we just don't have willpower or can just "stop." Stay positive- at least you are aware of your issues and are trying to deal with them. That is the first step. I've…
  • 1/6 th of a dark chocolate bar broken up with 1/4 cup walnuts. Yum - simple, easy, and healthy snack choice.
  • Wow - 130 lbs is awesome! What a great accomplishment!! Congrats!
  • Correct - I aim to get my "sugar" from very plant-based sources and have to severely limit them. Hopefully in a few weeks, since i"m starting all over and have been on the course to disaster the past several months -- I will have results to back up my story!
  • And when the original poster said "sugar detox" -- to me "sugar" is carbohydrates. They are one in the same. My 23 year old son has been an insulin dependent diabetic since he was 12 months old. And in working with the best endocrinologists in the country through the Children's hospital - we have always been told - "a carb…
  • I eat a high protein/low carb diet. 25-50 carbs max and I try to get that from veggies, excluding starchy veggies. When I follow this plan, the weight consistently comes off and will stay off. I don't eat potatoes, rice, peas, or anything that has over a few carbs each serving. I can't allow myself to have a "cheat" day --…
  • I am the same way. I have found the only thing that really works for me (to lose weight and lose the cravings) is a low carb (also a low sugar) diet. Even fruits can send me spiraling into a full out binge. I'm an "all or nothing" kind of person/body type. We are all different and what works for one may not work for…
  • Definately I'm in control and so it's my fault. However, I will say my mother was a mean alcoholic and my father was a compulsive overeater who I spent most of my time with. I watched him hide food (junk food -- candy, chips, etc.) from her and eat it. I saw her criticize him and his weight constantly (as she did me) . And…
  • Awww - that's how I feel too. But your boyfriend obviously loves you for you - so it's a good choice for your health - and a bonus for him! :)
  • I always get horrible headaches, moodiness, etc., when detoxing off sugar/carbs. Actually I have finally started back eating good (today is day 1!) and already this afternoon, the headache is kicking in. I expect to have it now a good 3 days, nonstop. It takes 3-4 days of feeling horrible to detox. Don't give in -…
  • I would toss it as I don't like cereal or milk. But as a mom/caretaker of young children, trying to lose weight, the first rule is you cannot eat off their plates.
  • I need to lose 100 lbs. I have bounced back and forth the past several years between 200- to now my highest 244. (ugh). For the first time ever, I am feeling the physical effects of carrying around too much weight. In the evenings, I can hardly walk because my feet hurt so bad, my feet swell up like balloons (and I"m even…
  • I agree also. Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin and in order for it to be absorbed correctly, it needs to be taken with a meal containing fat - research indicates it is best to take it with your highest fat meal in order that is gets absorbed correctly. Absorption of this vitamin has nothing to do with the sun.
  • I have been borderline deficient for several years and now officially severely deficient. However, I disagree with the exposure to sun causing the deficiency. In the summer, I spend several hours a day in the sun -- sometimes all day long at the water park, etc.. In the evenings during the winter, I spend time in the sun…
  • That's wonderful - congratulations! I have 100 lbs to lose and it is very disheartening on so many levels for me. Seeing your story has inspired me today, thanks! Where were you activity-wise when you started out compared to where you are now? Thanks! Tiffany
  • Wow - never heard of that but it sounds great! Thanks for sharing!!
  • I love making a "Chipotle" restraunt salad - you can layer all sorts of things. My fav is a layer of rice, then black beans, then bell pepper/onion mix, then pico, then chicken or steak, shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and lettuce. They put salsa/hot sauce on it too so you don't even use dressing. You can modify…
  • When you "bump" a post, it will show up in your feed of posts you have responded to and makes it easy if you are following or want to keep it to refer back to.
  • This is interesting because I am always very low (as in deficient) in Vit. D and B's. My dr. checks me reguarly for this and I also take supplements and whether I take supplements or not - my numbers always are deficient. I have some sort of absorbtion issue but never knew that was related to low thyroid.
  • I agree - If try to stay around 1200 cals a day I don't lose much past the first week. I also have to stay away from starches aka carbs in general to lose consistently and follow a higher protein/low carb plan and then only do I lose consistently or at least much better than just doing a 1,200 cal plan. It's very…
  • I really like this. It is really over whelming when you realize you have 80, 90, 100 lbs to lose. I also need to lose 100 lbs and am determined this is the year to do it. I am going to try the -5 lb goals and see how that works.
  • Wow - that is wonderful!!! Good job! And so inspiring!!
  • I just started day 1 on Ideal Protein. I have a friend who has been on since Dec. 1st and has lost almost 70 lbs!! Each week you can literally see her get thinner and thinner. She even took a week off to go on a cruise and is still losing! I'm hoping for the same results. So far, with my breakfast and lunch shakes/packets,…
  • Hi, I just went for my visit yesterday and starting today. Feel free to add me -- I also have about 100 lbs to lose. I have a friend on Ideal Protein and she's lost almost 70 lbs since December 1st! So I have seen her get thinner and thinner each week (literally) and hoping for the same results!
  • I'm also doing Atkins - day 19. I have lost 10 lbs. Probably would have lost a few more but last weekend I completely fell off the wagon and the wagon drove away! So I had 2 days of binging. I literally felt horrible - physically, not to mentional mentally as I had been doing so good. Hopped back on the wagon and going…
  • Feel free to add me too -- I have the same struggles!
