I bought a Garmin Instinct to track everyday activity level as well as walking, hiking, running, biking and indoor strength training workouts. I love it. I've had a few different wearable smart watches and this is my favorite by far.

This! I've tried to talk to my husband, too, but he doesn't see the real way I eat when he's not around and I can't bring myself to really explain it. I manage to keep my weight within the same 10 pound range so to the outside world it's not obvious that I'm a basket case about food in my head. Thank you everyone for…

I have an ft4. It has me addicted to using a heart rate monitor while working out! The ft4 is a good starter model, but I'll be happy to get a better one before too long. Sometimes while working out the heart rate transmitter blinks 00 or gets stuck on a number. I wash the chest strap after almost every use and let it air…

It does suck that it won't change, probably ever. Oh well. I definitely try more and more to be mindful of what I think of others.
-
Yeah, I'm finally starting to not care anymore what others think. Clearly no matter what you look like people will find fault with it, so it's best to focus on what makes you happy.

Edamame salad with a tortilla and hummus, all homemade, but you could find all of these things in the deli section of a grocer too.

Don't know about freezing and re-heating after cooking. The Happy Herbivore cookbook has some good recipes. Plus, whenever I'm looking for something new I google it. Just type in Vegan or Vegetarian tofu recipes and you'll get tons of ideas. I've used in in smoothies, for a fritatta, mini quiches, tofu mousse, and yummy…

Ok, thanks!

I plan out the next day the night before. I make just about everything I eat so I feel more prepared having a plan. I also make adjustments throughout the day if need be, switching an apple for a banana or what not. Having a plan takes the stress away from worrying about running out of calories before the days up.

I've been doing gluten free for a month or so now. I have a skin codition thats thought to be autoimmune. Since wheat can aggravate inflammation I gave gluten free a try. All itchiness from my skin went away. Two seperate times I had wheat and the very next day my skin started itching again. Too much of a coincidence to…

I do remember seeing that on fat2fit now that you mention it. Maybe I'll try 2000 at day for a month and see what happens.

This is what I've been doing: I had MFP set for 1/2 a pound loss a week which put me at 1710 cals a day. Then I would add my exercise onto that. I have an HRM so my calorie counts are pretty accurate (I assume). I usually ate my exercise calories, but not all of them all the time. On days I burned 700 calories through…

If it was calorie in calorie out I would have lost my ten pounds months ago! lol **I guess it seems weird that I say that on a thread were I'm basically asking about how many calories to eat. I just mean that if it was as simple as just eating 3500 cals less than you burn over a given amount of time then I would be making…

Yeah, fat2fitraddio is one of the calculators I used. They gave me the highest numbers and the 70 cal difference. I've tried a big deficit before with MFP's numbers set for 1/2 pound a week and got no results. That's why I was thinking about eating a bit more (closer to my goal weight maintenance) to see how that works. I…

I'd rather lose slowly than not at all. :P I've been at this since December somethings gotta give. :)
-
I guess it just seems so hit or miss. We're talking one piece of fruit a day, a slice of bread, half a serving of peanut butter, you get the point. Aside from the 70 cals, do you think not eating enough could have been my problem with lack of results? I have no medical problem that would inhibit weight loss, I eat very…

I'm not a super experienced runner or anything, but when I started I was sore also. It took a couple of weeks to not be sore when I ran. I run anywhere from 30 minutes to 60 mins at a time. Running outside is different than running on a treadmill, your body just needs to get used to it.

I figured thats what you meant. I guess my response was kind of confusing too. :)

I would be thrilled to swap the fat for muscle even if that meant I gained weight. I think you are right about concentrating on weights. It's a bit intimidating since I feel like I'm wading into unknown territory. I picked up New Rules of Heavy Lifting for Women and plan on doing those workouts. I've considered seeing…

I'm not on any meds, so that's not an issue. I am not afraid to eat and have my cals set at 1/2 a pound a week plus I do eat back exercise cals. I bought an HRM to make sure I was getting accurate calorie burn for that very reason. I eat 5-6 times a day. I get cranky if I go too long so three meals a day is out. :) My diet…

Thanks, I may give that a try. I've taken it easy this weekend so far. I think I may be a bit of an exercise addict as I can't stop thinking about what workouts to do next week. Maybe that's a sign so chill out, also. :)
-
Anyone?

I've got the same issue. I once heard a swimming pool analogy that made sense. Think of your body like a pool. You have to drain the shallow end before the deep end. For me that means all extra fat from the waist up has too come off before the thighs have significant changes. Just keep up the exercise and you'll see…

Maybe you need to change your outlook. "Good thing I earned those exercise calories so I can enjoy this banana!" Personally I think you should log everything. If I didn't log fruits and veggies I would gain for sure.

I like chia seeds. I put them in smoothies or with cold oat bran. Sometimes I mix them with water, lime juice, and agave and drink it. Haven't had them for awhile I may need to break some out later, thanks for the reminder!

Read, Born to Run. I don't know how anyone could read that book and then think running is bad for you. Our bodies are designed for running. Personally I love it. Once you figure out that you don't have to go as fast as possible all the time it is quite enjoyable.
