  • Shakybabe, I know where you are coming from. I have had my share of health issues in the last few years, car accident, numerous surgeries, etc where my body would rebel if I walked too fast. My chiropractor told me to to go for a saunter not a walk or fast walk for short periods of time. That seemed to help. But, just when…
  • I thought this was great. As a Gemini you nailed what I like the most in foods both good and bad and it has always been better to eat multiple small meals. I don't know if I'll follow the advice and too bad some people had to get a little rude about it - it's only a blog for crying out loud! Nobody said it was a law you…
  • Hi everyone, I joined MFP a while ago and was doing good. Had unexpected surgery where I lost all my goal weight and then some. Looked great but was very anemic. Ate more to gain weight and feeling better. Gained a little too much (love chocolate and junk food - hey, I needed to gain weight to get stronger) and now I need…
  • Totally off the food end you might try lymphatic massage which is a very light touch to flush out the toxins in your system as well as any meds that are still hanging in there. Reiki is also an option to balance out your body. With your issues you might also want to check with either a nutritionist or a naturapathic doctor…
  • I have been on a high protein diet for about 9 months now and have never had a metal taste in my mouth. I am not saying it can't happen but I never experienced it. If you have tried brushing your teeth or use mouthwash and the taste persists I would see a dr just to rule out anything else that could be going on and…
  • When people use a fictitious name they tend to be more rude because they don't have anyone to answer or account to. If they have a bad day they like to make yours bad as well - misery loves company. Some might be having issues loosing weight and want others to have problems as well. As the others have said. Ignore and move…
  • I did get the flu shot once because my family dr layed a guilt trip on me since I am a massage therapist. I never had any issues with it but will never get one again if I can avoid it. I do take elderberry extract that does get rid of the flu. For me, my body does better on herbal products than it does on medicines. My…
  • It was a shock to me as well when I started keeping track of my foods. The food scale was a good tool for me to get used to proper portions. I also made changes in my diet. I used to eat honey maple ham and swiss cheese on various types of breads with honey mustard. When I saw how much sodium and calories were in just that…
  • Sugar will trigger food issues in that it affects our brain where we want more. It will also trigger issues where we want to eat salty foods after sweet foods which will then go back and forth between the two. If you are under stress mentally or physically eating sugars gives instant relief to the brain as to how the brain…
  • Welcome to the group! We all seem to have some sort of physical issues in this group including myself. The good part is that we don't let it slow us down in reaching our goals. May you have much success in acheiving your weight loss goals.
  • These so called friends don't want you to get better. As the saying goes, misery loves company, and as long as you are there with them they don't have to make a change. If they were true friends they would encourage you to be healthy not starve yourself. It is just like the smoker that wants to stop and all their smoking…
  • I was watching Dr Oz for a while today and his subject matter was how to loose weight when you are over 30 and have done everything possible to loose and still can't loose. The following herbal suppliments are what he suggested and can be found at your local health food store. 7-Keto - Boosts metabolism by speeding up your…
  • You are doing great! Vacation and weight loss. I have beeen away for a while with some issues that needed to be addressed with my mother. It doesn't take much stress to trigger old ating patterns. This time I did good and watched what I ate and at least maintained my weight. Before the issues cropped up I went down a size…
  • Hi Claireputput, you are in the right group! We all have had various health issues and want to get back to where we were before them. Everyone here is very supportive of helping everyone reach their goals.
  • We live in CT and the big faire in the Fall is in Hebron. They have it running for several weekends complete with jousting, men in kilts contests, various 1/2 hr shows, etc. There is another faire in Guilford in the Spring and we may go to that just to see how we make out wearing our respective swords and daggers. My…
  • Happy New Year Everyone! My goal is to look good in renaissance clothing by the Fall. In our area they have a lovers weekend where the 'pope' will marry you or renew your vows. We will be married for 40 years around the time of the faire and we thought it would be fun to renew our vows renaissance style. I am just starting…
  • I plan on watching my weight as well - don't want to repeat this again even though I had some health issues that contributed to it. At least by the time I loose the weight I will be so used to eating this way I won't miss my old way so much and if I do eat my old way I can switch back to MFP way without any issue. Created…
  • Welcome Patty, you will like this group. Good luck in reaching your goals.
  • I am in! I have to watch more anyway because I ordered stuffed shrimp to eat as part of our meal and I want to enjoy a little melted butter with it. LOL Yes, I am going to be going over that day but there is nothing stopping me from really paying attention what I eat between now and then so I can enjoy the day to a point.…
  • Great Picture! It shows we can still do what we want to do.
  • I don't know if they carry it but Mission flour tortillas is 150 calories and the multi grain one is a little lower. Arnold's Health Nut bread is 120 calories per slice. Usually the multi grain is lower because they don't use as much bleached flour.
  • I agree. Maybe one of people in our age group climbing Mt Everest or something along that line since we are all working to be fit after 50. It doesn't have to be that extreme but something showing us striving to be the best we can be.
  • cclark, I would also like to have the recipe - it sounds delicious!

  • Yeah!!!! I lost 10 pounds and am no longer in the diabetic range! Double Yeah!!!! Thanks to MFP I was able to see what foods I needed to change, still feel full and not miss the foods that were causing me to stay heavy. I look forward to loosing the other 35 - 40 pounds I want to loose and fit into my clothes that I used…
  • Hi Danita, Good luck in loosing the weight you want .. Thsi is a nice group in that we are all around the same age with similar issues as to why we want to loos the weight. the MFP feedback on the food alone helped me change the choices I made with my foods and I don't miss what I ate a lot of before. I still eat it but…
  • If it makes you feel any better my dr has said the same thing about it taking a little longer. We do have different issues to deal with than the younger people do but we can still accomplish our goals. If we can raise children, work all day, take care of the house, do laundry and still have a relationship we can loose a…
  • Hi empc, Everyone in this group is nice and friendly feel free to ask anyone to friend you if you need a buddy.
  • You might want to try making some wraps with different meats in it so you are getting healty calories instead of a lot of fat calories from a grilled cheese sandwich. Watch your food summary page since it will tell you if you are too high in one area or too low in another. I like cheese but if I put it in a wrap with…
