  • Congrats! I'm a little over a week away. I'm using the 5k runner app, which is a slightly modified c25k. I just did the 20 minute run yesterday. I'm still in shock. I can only imagine what it feels like to be finished!!!
  • Once my permit comes it will be a Ruger SR9c or a Kahr CM9 (next purchase) or a Colt Cobra as needed, but mostly on road trips. ETA: I don't really need one for running as I usually run with my husband and/or on a busy street at a busy time of day in a low crime area. When we go for hikes in the mountains we also stay on…
  • Pregnancy test. Open box, pull out stick, pee on stick, and wait.
  • You still have to work on bringing down your body fat %. It's not a one or the other sort of deal.
  • He better hope his adult client aren't packing heat. He could end up pushing up daisies here in the south.
  • I've discovered that a lot of folks who don't send messages with their FRs also don't comment or post status updates. I like to have active friends. Therefore, if you don't take the time to leave a message I won't accept your request unless I've seen you around the forums or your profile looks interesting. It has nothing…
  • Actually, you can do this on the phone app. It isn't as neat and tidy as your spreadsheet but if you go to your home page and then select the weekly table it will tell you have far under you are for the week, and it will show you your daily totals in bar graph form. ETA: you can also see your nutrient breakdown over the…
  • Perhaps you shouldn't be so judgmental. A good portion of those "skinny" people were previously overweight or obese, and they got to where they are through hard work and determination. The rest are the minority, the vast minority. MFP is a tool used for tracking what you eat and can also be used to create a weight loss…
  • The answers really are drink lots of water, eat lots of protein (100g plus for me), and sleep 7-8 hours a night.
  • Amazing! Truly amazing! ...and people say you can't lose weight on a high calorie diet.
  • Sweet! We are close! I added you. I've been doing heavy resistance training, but I'll be diving into free weights next week. I'm kinds pumped. LOL

  • Yep. So long as you are on a supervised weight loss plan you are all good. Your dietitian will raise your calories when appropriate.
  • Pretty sure she meant that even with the smoothie she only got to 97grams of protein for the day.
  • Thank you for asking this question. I've been nervous as heck about whether or not my weight loss will stall. I've been lifting pretty heavy for the last month, and so far I haven't stalled. I've slowed down, but I'm still losing every week. So long as my body keeps transforming I'll be happy.
  • My theory about this is that our country has gotten so used to seeing overweight/obese people that our peers have a hard time identifying what a healthy weight look like. I get the same kinds of responses. I'm just within the healthy range for my height and I even catch myself glancing in the mirror and thinking "dang, I'm…
  • This for 1800-2000+ calories a day. If I could cut the number of meals/snacks down I would, but my stomach can only hold so much. Honestly, I feel like I don't even have a chance to get hungry anymore. LOL.
  • Just do it! That's all there is to it really. It does help if you keep a water bottle in plain sight as a reminder that you should be drinking water.
  • Chili bake ie, pot of chili made drier than usual topped with a half recipe of cornbread. Just under 400 calories for a very generous serving!
  • Are you lactose intolerant? That sounds like what happens to me when I have a high dairy meal. Milk is the worst, but too much cheese or yogurt will do it to me as well. ETA: I agree what the folk above. You should be tested for food allergies and intolerance. You might also want to get checked out for IBS. You should…
  • I recently started taking my coffee black or sometimes with a bit of non-dairy creamer. I'm trying to cut down on my sugar intake.
  • Here's something easy to do. At the beginning of the week prepare a bunch of protein like chicken breasts, thighs, pork lion chops, marinated tofu, etc. There pair that with the carb, fruit, and veg you like during the week. This could easily become salads, sandwiches, soups, omelettes whatever you want. It takes very…
  • As I understand it... 3500 calories to gain a pound and 3500 calories to lose a pound. This is over or under your maintenance calories also known as your total daily energy expenditure. Calorie is short for kilocalorie. It measures energy. It doesn't change whether we are talking about your body consuming its energy stores…
  • Yep. My husband and I are celebrating 3 years married this June, and we dated for almost 4 years before we got hitched. We spent 2 years in a distance based relationship followed by 1 month living together then another year of distance. We've lived together now for a year and a half or so. There is probably more distance…
  • Took the words right out of my mouth. Why on earth would someone want to resurrect a thread this hateful and ridiculous? This thread showcases the worst of MFP and women in general.
  • I bought a bikini yesterday. This is my first since I was a little girl. I'm nervous as heck about it. I still have some body fat to shed before I can feel comfortable in it. This damn lower ab pouch just refuses to vanish. I'm focusing more on strength now in hopes of getting my wiggly bits tightened up. You can add me if…
  • oOOOOooooooooooo! Thank you!
  • You have to eat 3500 calories over your maintenance calories to gain one pound of fat. So, unless you ate and additional 17,500 calories this weekend you haven't gained 5 pounds. It's water weight. it fluctuates according to a myriad of things including hormones, carb intake, sodium intake, etc. It will be gone very soon.
  • Strength training really does make all the difference in the world. Since upping my strength training I've lost a crap-ton of inches, but very little in terms of weight. I've since put my scale away. I weigh-in once a week now instead of obsessing over my weight 1-2 times a day!
  • Try mixing in some italian dressing instead of mayo for a quick snack. You can sub in greek yogurt or sour cream for the mayo in tuna salad.
