  • I do my runs in the morning and then yoga after work the same day. Then I have a day off in between. I usually do runs on MWF, then yoga MWSat. Yoga really helps to work out any kinks that may have developed during my runs and gets me ready for the next run.
  • I usually walk the dog (just about 20 minutes in the morning) on my days off. I also do yoga (about 3 days/week) - sometimes it's on my running days in the evening (I run in the morning) or on the days that I don't run.
  • I began C25K last November, finished it and ran my first 5K in February. I just ran on my own during the spring and did my second 5K in June. I decided to begin C25K again over the summer to work on speed. I was going to slow jog the walk intervals and faster jog the run intervals. I basically went back to the regular…
  • Finished my second round of C25K last Wednesday and ran a 5K on Saturday (this is my third). It was very humid and the sun was beating down (this is Texas ya know...), but I am happy to report that I had a PR of 34.33 and I was top 3 in my age division (out of 12). Not bad for someone who had really never run 10 months…
  • Did W9D1 today!!! I felt really good - 30 minutes straight and not gasping for air too much. I was worried, because I did my W8D3 run on Sunday in the late afternoon (I'm usually a 6am runner). It was just too hot with the sun beating down on me (still quite warm here in TX) that I had to walk about 25% of the…
  • I just did W7D2 today. My pace for the 25 minute running portion was just over 11:00/mile
  • W7D1 today! It's still humid here and that really saps my energy. When I ran (about 6:15am) it was 68 but 94% humidity - bleech! I made it through my 25 minutes, so that made me happy (at about a 11:15/mile pace). I have my third 5k race (did one in Feb and one in June) at the end of the month, so hopefully I'll be set.…
  • Did W6D2 this morning - Hooray! But I do wish this hot and humid weather would go away!!! Happy that I carried on and completed each of the 10 minute runs. On to the straight thru running on Friday! Great work everyone - you keep me inspired to continue.
  • 5'3" and 161lbs wearing mostly size 12. I still have some of my 14s, but they are usually too loose.
  • Just did W5D3 today - phew! Glad I made it through this week. I had taken a 3-week 'break' because of a foot ache and then a cold. My runs are on MWF. My husband and I alternate walking the dog in the morning, so he does the MWF dog walk while I do my runs and I do the TThS dog walks, then we all do a nice long walk…
  • After 3 weeks off due to bruised side of foot and a cold, I start right back on Monday (W5D1). I made it through and did W5D2 today. I was pretty pleased about running the full 8 minutes in each. Let's see how my 20 minute run goes on Friday. This is my second time through C25K. I was doing it to increase speed, but I…
  • My first 5k race after finishing the program was 12.45min/mile. My second 5k about three months later was 11:30 min/mile. My latest regular training runs (I'm using MapMyRun to get my distances and times) are around 11 min/mile. I'm repeating the C25K program, but trying to increase my speed on the running intervals. I'm…
  • Just signed up for my third 5k at the end of September. I finished C25K in January, did my first 5k in Feb, second in June (improved my time by 4 minutes!!), and hope to do even better by September. This Texas heat and humidity is doing me in though!! :grumble: Even going out at 6am, I come back a dripping, sweaty…
  • Thanks Yams  I have tried the 5k+ podcasts, but there are only 2 - a speed one and a stamina one. Both good, but I can't do them over and over again. Too boring! I wish they had put out more than that.
  • I am starting back at the beginning on C25K. I graduated in January and have run two 5ks in the meantime (times of 39:45 and 35:45). I've been running on my own over the past six months, and have tried to find some more 'advanced' podcasts that I can use. However I really liked my original C25K podcast (it's the British…
  • Found another one with cauliflower crust...sounds odd, but it's YUMMY!! Sweet Potato, Goat Cheese and Kale Pizza Cauliflower Crust 2 cups cauliflower, grated or food processed into rice size pieces 1 cup mozzarella cheese, grated 1 egg, beaten 1 garlic clove, minced 1 tsp. oregano 1. Coat a cookie sheet with a thin layer…

  • I usually eat a banana if it's early in the morning. That's pretty easy on the tummy and will hold you over until after the race. They usually have water and snacks for you at the finish line.
  • Definitely don't worry about speed yet if you are a new runner. C25K builds up your endurance so you can run for 30 minutes straight. As you continue to run you will get faster. I finished C25K in January, ran my first 5k race in February with a 39.45 finish. Ran my second 5k last weekend and finished at 35.45! I still try…

  • Congratulations! I finished C25K in January and have been keeping up with running about three times per week. I just ran my second 5K and took 4 minutes off of my previous 'record' that I set three months ago.
  • I started the program in early November, finished in late January, and ran my first 5K in late February (so about 3 months of prep). I'm now in week 3 of the Freeway to 10K program (probably still going to run at least one more 5K before I try a 10K though).
  • Hooray, that's awesome! I finished C25K in February and ran my first 5K at the end of that month. I did some various continuation podcasts and just started the podrunner Freeway to 10K last week...made it to week 2 :) I'm going to do another 5k in May and then maybe by the end of the summer look for a 10k. It is amazing…
  • Just did my first 5k race yesterday! I started c25k in early November and completed in late January. I worked on my own with the NHS 5k+ podcasts. Happy to say that I met my goals - not to stop running and to come in under 45 minutes. I didn't stop and finished in 39:43. Now to keep on going and find my next race!!!
  • Yay! I did my first 5k yesterday. My goals were to finish in under 45 minutes and to not stop running. I did it! Unofficial time was 39:43 and I didn't walk at all
  • kendrafox - Have you checked out the couch to 5k (C25K) program? It's a great interval training program to get you jogging up to 30 minutes straight. I started in early November and am now able to run regularly for 30 minutes (that's usually about 2.5 miles for me). I'm now doing podcasts with stamina and speed training.…
  • I finished couch to 5k a couple of weeks ago and moved on to the post-5k programs (using the NHS podcasts - speed and endurance). I never thought I would get this far, but I think I am going to do my first race next weekend! I ran the 'endurance' podcast - 35 minutes of running and got about 2.7 miles. I figured if I could…
  • Oh yes, that sounds VERY familiar
  • I just did my first post - C25K run this morning. I used the NHS stepping stones podcast. It does different paces of running throughout the 30 minutes - starts out at 150 beats per minute and end with 160. You're supposed to keep your footfalls in time to the music. This was super hard for me. I was always going too fast…
  • I've just found a 5k for the end of February, so I'm thinking of signing up for it!
  • Did W9D3 today - my fastest/furthest run yet...2.6 miles in 30 minutes. 11:30/mile. I was 'well impressed' with myself : ) I've downloaded the next set of NHS podcasts which will hopefully keep me movin' on. Congrats to all of us who have gotten this far and to all who are working their way on up. This is a great program…
  • Thanks for all of the input! Sounds like 'mixing it up' a bit is a good idea. I'm doing the NHS version of C25K as well, so I'll check out their other podcasts.
