• eating healthier and cutting out the junk food is appropriate for everyone. Calorie restriction is not necessarily the right thing to do. Go to his pediatrician and consult with him/her on what is right for your son.
• not exactly.... I eat my protein grams back... rather than focus on the calories on exercise days, I focus on hitting my protein macros (currently set at 30%)
• AWESOME!!!!!!! You already know this, but I'll say it anyway... what a fantastic job!!! Way to go!!!!
• 1. Do you use them as a meal replacement or a snack? Usually as between meal "snack", though sometimes an addition to a meal. I typically take two scoops (approx 250 calories). 2. If used as a meal replacement, how long does 1 shake typically keep you feeling full? Just the same as a real meal, of same calorie count 3. Do…
• I am 5'8".. started this journey in January at 187lb and am currently 147. My goal is to hang around at 145, though that is really just a number because right now I am happy with how I look, the energy I have and the way my clothes fit. I was a smallish 12 (U.S.) and now am a true to largish 8 (U.S.) depending on the…
• MFPers are generally here to implove LIFESTYLE... life sometimes has extra peanuts, sometimes has cake at birthday celebrations, sometimes has weddings, and sometimes has stressful days where a bowl of ice cream for dessert is EXACTLY what is needed. Try to fit in extra exercise in the rest of the week or lighter meals in…
• Here's what works best for me... on days I exercise, I make certain I eat my protein grams back (which is different than eatting my calories back). On days I don't/can't exercise, I work on my calories, while, once again, focusing on eatting my protein grams. I have protein set at 30% of calories.
• I agree. If you have doubts about your doctor's advice, talk about it with her so that you understand where she's coming from and she understands your thoughts and goals.
• There are three parts to a polar HRM... the wrist/watch, the transmitter and the chest strap. The transmitter "reads" the heart beats detected by the chest strap and "transmit" the beats to the watch. The watch takes your input (m/f, weight, age, VO2 number) and the heart rate and the time elapsed and computes/determines…
• Ditto.... I originally intended to lose about 30lbs... I've lost nearly 40lbs and don't know whether I should stay where I am (about 148lbs-150lbs and happy to be here!!!) or whether the next 5 lbs will be worth it. Or stay here and tone/define.
• always looking for new music -- bump
• bumpity bump... lots of great ideas
• You have posted two separate requests for MFPers to rate you... you're young, you're beautiful by many standards. You may need more self-esteem, but I think that's an age issue (meaning you're young and unsure) and should change with time. I agree with the above... work on your lifetime habits... regular exercise, esp that…
• Good for both of you!! Cheers to your next 10 healthy years! Now you're prepared to teach your son the lessons you've learned by being his example of healthy choices and activity! It's amazing how much we can learn in 10 years. Thank you for sharing your story and pictures.
• ^^^^ This! Seriously, this is training for a lifetime of healthier living, not for the short-term results. If you would like wine in your lifetime life style, have it -- in moderation -- and plan for it in your calories/exercise. Then.... ENJOY that glass with NO regrets!!!
• Good for you! One day, you'll have control over your achilles heel and will feel comfortable with nachos in moderation.
• so you were around 225 and now around 185 and you look in the mirror and see no difference (or at least not 40lbs of difference)... are you still wearing the clothes you wore at 225? Maybe your pre-weight loss clothes are hiding your weight loss. I would understand if you're holding off on the new/better fitting clothes…
• to not look my age! (I'm 44) to keep up with my kids (13, 11, 9) and even have MORE energy than them to completely come off of cholesteol & blood pressure meds (have halved my dosage of both in last 6 months)
• don't wait! if you enjoyed Christian and Anna, you'll enjoy Gideon and Eva and will be disappointed to have to wait until October for book 2. It's similar to 50 in many ways, but not with the attempt of a D/s relationship.
• Seriously!!!!!! Are people actually expecting Fifty Shades to be classic literature!?!?!?!? And, BTW, Christian and Anna never actually have a D/s relationship! They like to fantasize, plain and simple -- and don't we all!
•

This! I have the Kindle Touch and love it. AND it helped me read the Fifty Shades trilogy without getting constant remarks about my "bad choice of reading" because for some reason, everyone around me is suddenly a literary AND BDSM expert and they all have to share their wisdom with me.
…
• I agree! You sound like you're mindful of going about your journey healthfully, so "give it a whirl". Different people's bodies respond differently. See how your body responds... you may be pleasantly surprised or disappointed. What may work at one weight may not work at another weight. This is especially so when one has…
• love it! thanks for sharing
• The key to this advice (which I completely agree with - Especially # 5 & #8) is this advice is for those who are interested in being active with MFP. A reply poster says MFP is a tool, and they're right. If you're only using MFP as a tool and not interacting with others, then the advice doesn't apply to you. I don't…
• No, no, no, no. You do not eat below BMR, you eat below TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) which is BMR plus your normal activity level..... I know that you are asking an honest question, but please, take time to read the 100s of posts and information MFP has about BMR, TDEE and net calories. It's all here, and doesn't…
• Dear Lynn: You've only just begun MFP. Your post leaves many questions unanswered, but I would like to lend my support to ease your frustrations. Give yourself more time at 1400 calories, assuming you feel that limit is a good fit for you for the moment. Give yourself more time to get used to the calorie deficit. At the…
• Polar FT40 ( I don't ever exercise without it)
• Best tip list I'ver read on MFP!!! I agree with each and every point.
