  • Yep - gotta agree with oatmeal! Try steel cut oats - they are a little chewier and more filling. You can do so much with a huge bag of plain oatmeal - there are literally hundreds of options!

  • Two of my favourite resources are Clean Eating magazine, and online at thegraciouspantry.com - both are awesome for using clean, unprocessed foods. I am a huge fan of Tosca Reno's books as well - the whole Eat Clean Diet series of books - they are amazing!
  • Congrats - you are doing awesome! Love the top in your 'after' picture, but you need to get some smaller jeans - those ones are looking a little saggy!
  • Thanks!
  • Must have been something else I was thinking of with all the added ingredients. But I do try to avoid sugar, so I'll keep trying to find a local supplier of plain peanut flour
  • I looked at PB2, but it has sugar and a bunch of other ingredients in it, so I prefer just the plain peanut flour :)
  • There is another company that sells it - Byrd Mill - I'll probably be buying it from them in the future :)
  • I cook hard-boiled eggs in mine - I put as many in the steamer basket as will fit in there, add just over a cup of water, and let 'em steam - they come out perfect every time!
  • I put a big splash of Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze in my coffee - gives it a creamier taste with just a hint of sweet. And it's only 40 cals per cup so even if you use 1/4 cup, it's only 10 calories :)
  • Butter is definitely better - but make sure you use it in moderation! Margarine is full of nasty things and from what I have read, is only one ingredient away from plastic! Ever wonder why if you leave it out on the counter it never grows mold? That's a pretty good sign it's made of nasty things - even the bacteria won't…
  • My thought is, if they can do it on Biggest Loser - heck yeah - go for it! I started pretty heavy too (260 lbs) and am down to about 215 right now and the workouts are definitely getting easier and better, I hurt less after, and I feel more motivated to work harder - it's an awesome feeling! Good luck!
  • I have heard (and am finding out) that great abs are made in the kitchen, not so much in the gym! Keep your food clean - stay away from processed foods, refined sugar, white flour, and excess sodium. Eat lots of veggies, some fruits, lots of lean proteins, and complex carbs. Eat 5 or 6 small meals per day, making sure you…
  • Oops - double post! Stupid slow computer!
  • I've been here for almost a month - I love being able to track my food intake here! :) I'm in Airdrie, Alberta!

  • I LOVE Tosca Reno's books - I have read them all and have been following it for a while - which is how I have lost 45 pounds so far! If you have any questions, please feel free to add me as a friend and I can try to help you out!
  • Spinach is a great source, and so are chia seeds!
  • My thought is to either throw it out, give it away, or if you can't bear the thought of that - at least put it in the freezer - cut into very small portions! Then leave it there for your family to eat - or invite some people over and fatten them up instead!
  • You don't necessarily need low-cal/no-cal food - you need something that is going to fill you up and give you the nutrition you need. A couple of my favourite snacks: 4 hardboiled egg whites, 1 whole egg, fresh cut veggies (I love cucumbers, tomatoes, and sweet peppers!) Fat-free plain Greek yogurt with berries or other…
  • My favourite right now is: 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk 2 tbsp ground flax 1/2 cup frozen berries 1 scoop chocolate protein powder huge handful of spinach Believe me, you cannot taste the spinach, but it adds loads of healthy nutrients to your shake! You could also use a different flavour of protein powder with…
  • Can you show your food diary? Maybe I can have a look for you and see if I can help a bit :)
  • Absolutely! When I am feeling rotten about myself, I don't want my DH anywhere near me some days, but when I start losing weight and feeling better about myself, I don't think twice about waking him up in the middle of the night!
  • Have you tried smoothies or protein shakes? My favourite is almond milk, frozen berries, handful of spinach (you won't taste it, I promise!), chocolate protein powder, and ground flaxseed. So good - and very filling!
  • Dark chocolate is definitely better. I have a couple of bars of 85% cocoa dark chocolate in my freezer. When I get a craving (like I did last night), I break of one square and eat it really slow, just savour it... by the time it's done, my craving is gone, and I don't have any guilt!
  • Grrr.. had to create a new ticker because I can never remember the stupid PIN code! :grumble: Oh, and my pedometer went through the wash and doesn't work too well anymore, so I'm guessing, but definitely underestimating my steps. Usually when I get out for all my walks I end up about 14-16000 steps per day, and I'm only…
  • Way to go! You're doing awesome! I find that the weight does come off much quicker at the beginning, then slows, but once I change things up, the scale starts moving again... like this week - I really started to clean things up and be more consistent with my exercise, and managed to drop a few more pounds  This is…
  • Anything that comes in a package with a barcode and more than a few ingredients! Or ingredients that I have never heard of or cannot pronounce!
  • I just realized I forgot about the Wii Outdoor Challenge game - it's a lot of fun and can be very challenging! I just finished playing it for a while - forgot about how much fun it is!
  • I agree! I love Silver Hills bread - and my 3 year old son loves it too! It's the only kind I buy now - my favourite is Mack's Flax.
  • I've made this before, and it's definitely good :)
