This! ^^^^^^ 3 minutes today, maybe 4 tomorrow, maybe 10 next week, and so on. This is how it works. You have to show up every day and do the best you can do. Keep at it. Anybody who says this stuff is easy is lying or selling something.

Damn! Who knew? Good advice

Double This ^^^^^^^ It's a harmless bit of teaching the lesson of giving through the myth. They will figure out on their own as they get older long before you tell them it's not a real person, but is only a spirit of giving / concept. They have the rest of their lives to deal with harsh reality, let them live in a fantasy…

THIS ^^^^^^ Weight training will help burn off the fat and will replace it with muscle. Don't be afraid of the weights, they don't bite.

Good for you! I am also training for a half marathon in December as, a warm up to a Disney full in January. I am using Jeff Galloway's program, which is pretty similar to Hal Higdon's, I think. I am not new to running, but I am new to the distances involved in this kind of event. After the long runs I am a tired puppy and…

Don't take it personally. I pass lots of people on my runs and I am so asleep at that hour that I can barely focus on my run and where I am stepping, never mind thinking of something to say to each person I pass. Not trying to be mean.

Fabulous Work! Yet another example of the benefits of weight training. I wish more women would bite the bullet and go lift heavy stuff. It doesn't make them look like guys, it makes them look hot. Kudos!

That is awesome! That is a lot of weight in a very short time. WTG!

Best Post I have seen in a long while! Well done!

THIS ^^^ Don't freak out. Try to remember that the scale is really only useful to track trends. Your weight can shift up or down as much as 10lbs a day in some cases. Mine can shift 3-5 lbs up and down day to day, depending on what I did and the kind of food I ate the day before (even assuming calories at or below goal).…

That is the question! :drinker:

That'll show you! The dog is just looking out for you. That is what mine says when he snakes my junk food anyway.

They all taste pretty much the same according to my tastebuds. (Yuck). But they do the job, and a little PB2 peanut butter powder in there helps a lot. Find one where you shop and repeat as necessary.

I suspect you are not alone. You will lots to "me toos" from MFP ladies. I am a guy, so I don't have this problem, but I have some insight that might be helpful. One of my long time female friends noticed me at the gym one morning and came over to say hello. She mentioned that she almost didn't come over, because she was…

Looks pretty good. You are dipping your shoulders as you come up with the weight, but you already know that. You are getting low enough from what I can see and you aren't rounding your low back. A side view would be better for a diagnosis, but I was taught that you should try to keep your shins and your spine parallel as…

They answer is NEVER. They already know, so there is no good way to say that.

x3 Trust me. Nobody is paying that much attention. Bring your own music and headphones and worry only about getting your workout done. Who cares about the rest. Those machines aren't so complicated once you use them once or twice and they work! Gyms are intimidating at first, but once you become a regular, you are part of…

Amen Brother! Some rules are always in effect.

Come down off the ledge, and remember a couple of things. 1. Weight loss is NOT linear. Diet may be simple math (calories in vs. calories out), but how much you loose is not. Just because you are 3500 calories below your target for the week does not mean you lost 1 lb this week. Weight comes off when the body wants it to,…

^^^^^THIS^^^^^^ Hat's off to these guys getting pumped up! Lots and lots of hard work went into these changes.:drinker:

   Sad but true. It's called fitness, not magic. I figure paying for new pants is cheaper than the heart attack I had scheduled.:drinker:

Lot's of faves here, but the winner would have to be Motley Crue.

I am right there with ya. I have found that the only way to get it done is to do my exercise first thing in the AM before my day gets going. If I wait til later in the day, there is always some emergency that ties me up, or I get home at 7pm and I am hungry and too wiped out to exercise. You just have to treat it like any…

Been there done that. My story is similar, so I sympathize. I still get flare ups periodically and I have tried most everything without a Rx. The pain is spectacular while it lasts. I have had broken bones in my feet that hurt a good deal less. The good news is it is kind of a pain driven thing (for me anyway). The fascia…

Congrats! And thank you for your service to our nation!:drinker:

Great post! Lot's of good advice here.

Is it too much to ask for both?
