  • Dude! Have you seen those calves in her profile pic? She has some serious muscle mass for a lady. Calves like that don't come from sitting around all day. Just ask the chicken leg guy with the 52" chest in the gym whose working his calves like crazy and getting no where! BTW: My profile pic, is there with its little…

  • IF is one of the best things! I do it at least once a week. 24 hr ones, usually from 6PM to 6PM. I simply extend the natural overnight fast. I pick my day when I get up in the morning, because that feels most natural. I break the fast with a long walk or hike, followed by a meal of between 800 and 1000 calories consisting…
  • Wow! How timely..I had the same thing said to me yesterday, and it actually was bothering me. Kinda of glad to hear that it isn't just me that runs across this. I'm not going to change my goals because of it, as they are very specific, and I'm close to achieving them. I hope you do the same.
  • Happily Divorced!!!
  • Born, raised, and now back on PEI, but have lived in every province except NB and NFLD. May go west again......
  • I finished the program three weeks ago, and yep, just like everybody said its a huge time commitment. I was getting up a 5AM everyday to get the workouts in. I did substitute running somedays for the plyo, kenpo, and everyday for the yoga (except for the first two weeks where I TRIED the yoga and hated it!) Have you…
  • @OP: What a wonderful thread you started, and what great people replied with terrific answers. This, , is something we all need to do, everyday because accepting yourself means you have the strength and generosity to accept what others offer you and the courage to offer it and more back without fear or reservation. I wish…
  • My feathers aren't ruffled, as I don't have feathers! However, I disagree with your opinion. There is no more a TYPICAL male, then there is a TYPICAL female. That may be your experience, but it certainly isn't mine, and I really hope its not most peoples. He is not saying he loves her to avoid anything, he's saying it…
  • A definite yes. No question. "Ah, you gonna take me home tonight Ah, down beside that red firelight Are you gonna let it all hang out Fat bottomed girls, you make the rockin' world go round Hey, I was just a skinny lad, never knew no good from bad But I knew life before I left my nursery Left alone with big fat fannys, she…
  • I treat it the same way, cardio. There is a general circuit training in the database here that's pretty accurate for calories burned based on time. I treat most exercise as cardio. Except when I do weights because this site really isn't the best way to track a weight training program.
  • Maintenance Manager. Some days its great, lugging, lifting, wrenching. Other days not so much, paperwork, desk, sitting on my butt.....its kinda neutral over all.
  • I do kettle bells, and I put it under cardio, because my heart rate gets into the 80 to 90% range for most of the workout. It's not really progressive resistance (weight training) as you use the same kettle bell for almost every exercise. Here's a link to an interesting article:…
  • If fudge sauce doesn't count, how does that make you feel?
  • adamb83 you are not the only one who uses a visual to give you goals and yeah if you friend me I'll help you as much as a I can, and you don't get much cheaper than free! My inspiration is Daniel Craig. We're the same age, same height, and rumour has it almost the same weight! Here I am halfway to where I want to be. I…
  • Me too. Type 1 and I've been using the site for a couple of months. The database of food has really helped me to tighten up control through carb counting. I've also used it to reduce my carbs down to around 30 to 35 % of daily intake and reduce the amount of insulin I take. I'll be interested to see what my A1C is after…
  • A gentleman does not kiss and tell!
  • So, I've read through all of this now, and since sticking my foot in my mouth is on my list of exercises (15cals burned inserting, 200cals getting it back out!) Here it goes...I have had the pleasure of dating two bi woman in my life, and honestly it was no different than dating a straight woman. I can't speak for them,…
  • 1/3 cup roasted almonds 5 Tbsp vanilla yoghurt 1 tsp ground up flax seed sprinkled over top.
  • A porterhouse, rare. Yep, can eat one everyday on the diet. Sadly, can't afford to have one everyday.....
  • I agree with your boyfriend. I've dated a few ironing boards, and not so attractive. A woman ought to have curves! A guy ought to have bigger shoulders and chest than his waist. It goes both ways!
  • Ok, I'll help. Happily. I had a heart attack at age 37 on February 7th, 2007. I was very lucky to survive, as when I finally arrived at the hospital almost 30% of my heart muscle had been damaged. I was 250lbs at the time, a former hockey, football, and body building guy who had been very hard on himself. Here's the scoop…
  • Here is a good You Tube video on pull up progression. http://youtu.be/76HjVOoUX6U Another good program to do them: http://scoobysworkshop.com/pullups-for-total-beginners/ Both are very good programs for helping your back, shoulders, arms get strong enough to do pull ups/chin ups. Enjoy! And out of curiosity, let me know…
  • There may be a misunderstanding here with the acronym VLCD. I believe the gentlemen who initially posted was talking about a Very Low Calorie Diet, and @hpsnickers1 seems to have taken it as a Very Low Carb Diet, which is understandable, but are two very different things. Yes? And to the OP...yes, starvation mode exists.…
  • I was 5'9" and 180lbs at high school grad. Finished basic training at 170. Hit a peak of 250 in 2005. Now at 168. Have I obsessed much over the years..........Ha! I still have food diaries and exercise logs going back over 25 years.
  • Yep. Great plan to start. I've been doing the sort of the same thing for the last month, trying to work my way up to 3 minutes of jumping, two minutes rest for 5 sets. The only problem is I'm uncoordinated, and get tangled up regularly! I need a good skipping song to give me some rhythm!
  • Ha! I was complaining about the same thing last night. Stupid washing of stuff.... why must life be so difficult?
  • You're never too big or too small to weight train. Start with just body weight exercise if you want. There's nothing better than old fashioned push-ups, chin or pull ups, and some squats. Any progressive resistance training is part of a well rounded exercise program, and any muscle growth you achieve helps with metabolism.…
  • Now that's some funny sh** right there!
  • I don't really see a whole lot wrong with what you're doing. My personal experience when odd weight gain has happened is that it's related to sodium and water intake. Too much sodium, and not enough water through the day. I've personally had swings of up to 7lbs of gain with no change in BF%. Part of the reason I'm using…
