I'm breastfeeding my daughter so exercise and dieting are not really in my playing cards right now. I am currently watching what I eat and I have seen some workouts you can do just sitting down if you can't put weight on your legs. Maybe you could google or look on Youtube for some ideas. Your weight will go up and down. A pound lost a week is the healthy way to loose it and you are more likely to keep it off. They say it takes four weeks before you will see something different about yourself. i would also go more by body messurements then the scale. Don't listen to her (easier said then done I know) but I do know you are taller then me and weigh 7-9 pounds more then I do right now. If I heard someone say that I don't know what I would do but yelling back at her comes to mind.

I have that habit too, I can have all good food in the house but days off and when I get home I'll just eat and eat, even if its healthy food. i find the best method is too keep my hands busy or keep myself moving, then I don't eat as too much. But I'm still working on that one though.

I would focus more on how your clothes fit and how you feel. The scale is just a number. I would start going by body measurements instead of relying on the scale.
