I use a smile and nod. If I were to try and vocalize it would come out as something like a seal bark. No need to fodder for their dinnertime jokes.

Oh man, these classes sound amazing. Do you have notes you can share.

Oh yeah, and mangopickle, sorry about the burn! That stinks! But it sounds like you had a great time and reaped the benefits of your hard work in energy and fun. :-)

I've heard the same thing - that it is really not a lot about our diets and more just a response to the surgery in general. I also find it interesting that there are such wide variations in what people consider acceptable amounts of protein. I get about 60 g a day, am experiencing great loss and satisfaction, minimal hair…

Feel free to check my diary, too! I eat tuna pouches, chicken, beef, etc. Protein, protein, protein. Breakfast is typically yogurt w/ PB2 but sometimes I'll mix it up and do an egg and avocado. I cook in the crockpot and have meals for a week. Not a ton of variety when doing that but it sure keeps things simple. It doesn't…

I've been using Sytrex but I must say I LOVE mangopickle's suggestion on the carbmaster milk. I'm going to do that instead of buying more expensive protein from now on. So, thanks, mangopickle! (I think I remembered your name correctly. lol)

I see where that Priest was coming from. However, I also see the value in even temporary sacrifice if the point is to focus on the sacrifice that lead to the Lenten season in the first place. If every time you're desiring what you're not having during Lent you turn that desire to thoughts on the ultimate sacrifice then I…

^^Brilliant post of ideas. I have found that since my surgery, plain water makes me nauseous, no matter the temp. I've been using Crystal Light but hate all of the artificial ingredients in it. Including sweetener. I tried lemon last week and that worked ok but not perfectly. I'm thinking of trying cucumber/mint.

I really like them. I do think that education is going to play a more vital role than nutrition labeling alone but I think the new labels are much more revealing and helpful. Seriously, though...why not make nutrition a weekly segment in a child's science education?

I was sleeved on January 14. I felt much the same way. I go back to work tomorrow and am excited and nervous. Good luck!

Congratulations and good luck as you learn your new lifestyle in the upcoming weeks!

Does your doctor have a lifting restriction? Mine is 10 lbs for at least 4 weeks. I'm 11 days out and am just making plans to return to work next thursday. I am a chemist so I'm on my feet most of the day - and lots of reaching and twisting - and these actions are not comfortable for me. I know I need that extra week. I…

Are you a woman? 3.5 lbs could easily be explained by water retention/bloat in certain times of your monthly cycle.

I haven't had my surgery yet but I just wanted to offer you some encouragement. You've done so great! Don't lose heart. I'm sure those pounds and inches will be coming off again very soon. They have to! :-)

Thank you both! Water is going to be a big challenge. I drink it now but in big quantities at one sitting. I'm a chemist and we don't keep food items in the lab. We have a drinking fountain in our first aid room. I think I need to start setting a timer and just going and getting a few sips every half hour or so. No way to…

bump Thanks. :-)

What a gorgeous blog! Thanks for sharing!

Speaking as a "fattie"....I think the hard part about going to a gym, with people who are in as excellent shape as you're in, is knowing that some of those fit people consider you a fattie not worth caring about. Being fat is hard. Changing it is hard. Encountering condescending attitudes and unkind people compounds that.…

I do a lot of the options mentioned. I also love big veggie wraps w/ hummus and any vegetable I have in the fridge wrapped up in a whole wheat tortilla. Or, mmmmm, avocado! Cottage cheese and grape tomatoes are a favorite of mine. Mini-frittas are delicious and easy to make ahead and heat up at work. Mix up eggs, milk, and…

I fell off MFP for 2 weeks and have just been back for 5 days. Part of my whole mentality was burying my head in the sand and not seeing what I was eating in black and white. The way I actually made it back is by taking a day and logging everything I had eaten and then looked at the "if every day were like this you'd weigh…

He's mean and he DOES mean to hurt you. Don't cut him the slack. He has treated you like crap and lost the privilege of your company. period

I really love this post.

Probiotics is a good suggestion, imo. Also, if you are getting fiber but not drinking water then it just becomes like a big clump of hay blocking everything....so fiber alone is not the cure-all. You need the water to keep the poo malleable and moveable.

Congratulations on your success! You look so happy and healthy!!!

Dark chocolate - 70% or higher cocoa....plus a few dried cherries. Reallllllly handles that chocolate AND sweet craving. It doesn't take much. My daughter (14) didn't believe me. I made her try it and she's convinced. Just about 1 oz chocolate broken up w/ a few cherries...can eat w/ a little granola or not. Another thing…

That is AWESOME!!!! So happy for you!!!
