Body recomposition? Can honestly say I've never heard that term before.

Thank you!

Me, it's fried foods and sweets. Ugh, sometimes I want stuff so bad, nothing else will do!!!! Others, here, have suggested I let myself have the "naughty" food. But just enough to enjoy the taste. I work nights, and I get VERY snacky. Doesn't help that the facility I nurse in has a bucket of candies. :-/ I let myself have…

You know, I'm overweight. 65 lbs overweight. I speed walk to and from work. I don't walk slowly. My heart pounds, and I am sweating and out of breath. I have to change because of it by the time I get to work or back home. Walking briskly is a truly hard workout for me. I'm OUT OF SHAPE. That's why my car looks so darned…

I don't buy the junk food. If, I know I'l eat it. The self control thing, again. And I LOVE healthy foods. In fact, I prefer them. But you can overeat on the healthy foods and rack up the calories too. I'm trying to pay more attention to what my STOMACH is telling me, rather than following my cravings. Like when I start to…

Can STRENGTH training burn calories, too? Like if I work my arms (I'll be sitting most of the weekend. Long drive/visit with loved ones) with light weights (I'm a weakling LOL)?

Ok, duh. So I just won't have a larger calorie limit on any "days off" from exercising? The two of you who answered mentioned "recovery" time for the body. What does that mean, exactly? Is a day or two per week OFF from exercising best?
-
Oh yes. Definitely easier said than done. I'm working to that end, as well. And I had a "Duh!" moment, when Heather mentioned binge eating. I do that. :-(

Thank you!

Yep. I still want it. I drink a lot of water.

This is why my food journal is private. I am afraid of jugements. There are times when I am depressed or my day has been overly rushed due to work/kids/etc... and my meals reflect this. Furthermore, I work 3rd shift, so my meals are often very odd. I eat my first meal of the day about 7pm. At work (10pm-6am), I eat either…

Glad to "meet" you! Why hadn't I thought of that!? Biking would be both a fun activity to do with my older kids, as well as an "exercise"! I am glad that spring has swung toward us! (No more snow! Please! Only warmer weather here on out!)

LOL my ad is "Taco Bell"! Maybe it's a conspiracy! Us dieters should revolt! ;-)
-
Totally "hear" you Beckem. :-(

I'm a mom of 9. My body's been through the ringer. And all the treats the kids love? Well I, ummm, love them too. :ohwell: The ONLY thing that has worked for me (and I'm divorced, so the 6 youngest kids are with their dad also) is to not have ANY of that "bad" food in the house. I just don't buy it. It's interesting,…

I think you did great! Don't beat yourself up about the tape! You got all that walking in and ate well, to boot! The hard part is learning to listen to our bodies, and to what they really, honestly need. Do they need that high-calorie snack that you want like mad? No. But the temptation to listen to our bodies THEN is…

Awesome, awesome, awesome! You're gorgeous! I want what you've done!!!!!

Hello! I know just how you feel! It's altogether too easy to feel alone and frustrated on this "journey". Feel free to add me to your "friends" list also! Good luck to all of us!

A pool sounds WONDERFUL!

I have a bad case of restless leg syndome, myself. I didn't even think to link it to aspartame. Does anyone know if losing weight while drinking diet soda is more difficult?
-
I am so amazed and impressed! What an inspiration you are! Thank you for sharing! I'm fighting jealousy!

* Whole oats(1/2 cup rolled oats to 1 cup water) , cooked, with chopped fresh apple on top, cinnamon, and 1/2-1tsp brown sugar. Good if you have a sweet craving, too. * 100% whole wheat toast with almond butter. * Rice cake w/1 tblsp natural peanut butter and 1 tsp all-fruit. * The book, "Skinny *****" (LOL) suggests…

ps- I really love the POSITIVE quit talk in the initial post/question. I need to do that MORE often! See all the GOOD things I successfully quit... not focus so much on the negative ones that are ranting at me. Also, to the person who mentioned imagining their ex's voice saying the "negative quits", AWESOME idea! My…

OMG, YES! That is one thing I hear in my head when I start to feeling weak. "You're not THAT big.", or "You're smaller than her. That {name a no-no food} won't hurt." Nice to know I'm not alone in "arguing" internally with myself.
-
Okay, I did as many of you suggested, and changed my "thought pattern" in listing meals. I decided I'd count my "days" as 12am to 12am the following night. And I renamed my "meals" as various time breakdowns. It's working okay so far. Hey, btw, I passed my scale this afternoon after I took my shower. Thought, "What the…

You are NOT alone. The first thing I think about when I get to feeling "down" is, "What is there I can munch on." And, more often than not I have a "WHATEVER!" attitude. I get depressed and tell myself negative things like, "Why bother? I never lose weight anyway.", "The way I am is fine. I'll deal with it.", "It's too…

Thanks for all the replies everyone. And yep, I'm at work at the moment too. :-)

Thanks, how does one add friends?

But... when does my "day" begin? Counting calories, that is... That's where I'm stumped. Carrie
