A conference call that will apparently go on forever without solving anything - I'm at work. :s

I don't have an answer - I actually was searching the forums because I have the same question, lol. But right now, I leave my HRM going until my heart rate is around 100-110 (resting is mid-70s). Right or wrong, that's what I'm currently doing.

You're an inspiration, sir! You look absolutely amazing. Your hard work and dedication really shows. Thanks for sharing!

I may not seem very active since my daily streak isn't very high, but that's because I like to go camping where there's zero reception. So other than those camping trips, I'm on MFP every day. I keep my food diary open, so you'll see that I try to exercise every day and keep my caloric intake in check, but you'll never see…

Ugh, multiple times. Full-blown ophidiophobia (snake-a-phobia). I've been so scared by snakes that once I dropped to the ground like a sack of crying potatoes... and another time while rock climbing, I shot straight backward (and then downward) off the cliff. Luckily I was only about 6' from the ground at that point as I…

I'm SO glad (and relieved!) to find some people willing to admit they don't like Rose! I always felt like I was the lone heathen in a universe of Rose worship. I also liked her with Eccleston and then quickly grew to hate her smug little mug with Tennant. I wouldn't say that I'm disappointed that they didn't actually kill…

Think I'll just pop into this thread and have a look around. Loving all the gifs! Two of my favorite things (DW and MFP) combined? Don't mind if I do! Please feel free to add me as a friend! :flowerforyou:

^^ This. A thousand times, this. I see others' diaries where they skip dinner regularly in order to stay within their calorie goal. I have no idea how they survive. I love food, and food loves me. Besides, I love the endorphins and confidence booster that exercising brings!

Only if you count that Geico commercial! Have you ever had to bail out your parent?

Such a great question - I'd never looked. My numbers aren't that impressive, but keep in mind that I'm 5'8", my starting weight was 151 lbs, and my goal weight is 141 lbs. For those posting their numbers, please put them in context! It makes them so much more meaningful. February: -4.6 (started doing cardio and tracking…

Add another vote for the bikini! Agree with those above that you've got a rocking Marilyn Monroe-esque body, and if she kicked *kitten* in a bikini, so can you! I'm normally a 1-piece kinda person, but the bikini really does suit you much better. Also agree with others above to throw those shoulders back and hold your head…

Bump for the motivation. You guys haven't just lost weight, you've gotten younger!

I'm also predominately a leftovers luncher, but mostly I'm bumping this for the great lunch ideas. :-)

I too was scared of the free weights section of the gym, but I knew they were more efficient than the machines. I spent a few weeks seeing other women lifting free weights from the safety of my weight machine, so I finally started doing my research on what exercises to do for which muscles, proper technique, etc. (Thank…

Current BMI: 22, Below Average - You have a lower BMI than 87% of females aged 30-44 in your country (United States) - You have a lower BMI than 62% of females aged 30-44 in the world You're most like someone from North Korea. O_o My new incentive to lose weight? To keep Kim Jong Un the hell away from me.

^^ I agree with this. I have been using MFP and a HRM for about a year and have noticed the same trend. I haven't had a lot of weight to lose, but I've been working on toning up and increasing overall fitness. For example, when I first started zumba, I'd burn 700-800 calories in an hour according to my HRM. At 150 lbs, MFP…

Bumpity bump for reference!

I joined last year and reached my goal weight... then I fell off the wagon and gained it all back. Surprise, surprise! Now I'm back on MFP with a vengeance! I spend more time on here than FB, lol. I'm a 33 y/o female in Memphis, TN. Starting weight: 152 lb. Current weight: 147 lb. Goal weight: 135 lbs, but I'm more…

My recommendation would be if you want to track it as far as calories burned, add the entire workout session as a single cardio exercise under "strength training". If you add it as a strength exercise, you have to add each individual exercise/machine. I don't find that useful for me at all. I use different apps for keeping…

Ooh, ooh, pick me! :flowerforyou: I'm active both in working out (alternating between zumba days and strength training days) and in participating on MFP quite a bit most days. I'm working hard on logging in every day, though I admit to getting "forgetful" on the weekends. I'm definitely positive though and greatly…

Another Memphian looking for local motivation and potential work-out buddies. Feel free to add me!

Agree completely! But don't just target 1 or 2 things, remember to CELEBRATE every single victory, no matter how small. Because I'm an emotional eater, keeping my mental outlook on track has been just as important as the physical. And the links that diannethegeek posted are GOLD. I wish I'd known about them when I started,…

What a sweet dog! My cats make terrible coaches, unless it comes to napping. I've personally found that I love zumba. If it's dancing (even dancing that involves squats, lol), I've found that my brain catelogs it as "fun" instead of "evil, evil exercise".
-
Wow, your post sounds like a page out of my book. I'm also an emotional eater... currently shoving baby carrots in my face because I'm stressed and because I know that when I'm stressed and if my hands and mouth are idle, then junk food inevitably gets shoved in. I know I'm an emotional eater, so identifying and dealing…

If I'm only putting in 5 minutes of cardio, I'm simply not getting my heartrate up. I don't know that I notice any difference between doing 10 vice 15 minutes. No issues with my current routine - I guess I was mostly curious to know if I should be aiming for a pre-workout goal and what those might be.
-
Exactly! Never has Homer been more spot on with how I feel, haha. I work out extra SO I can eat those divine little sugar bombs. :-D

Hoping to piggyback off the original post since cardio before lifting wasn't recommended "beyond a short warm up". I'm looking for a little clarity on what's recommended for that warm up. Currently I'm doing 15 minutes of bike/elliptical/treadmill (whatever's available, honestly). I try to get and keep my heartrate at…
