  • Hi My goal for October will be 85 miles (I work in kms so will convert it!). I started on Oct 1st with a local half marathon and a couple of recovery runs Mon & Tues (Will need to look up & convert & post exact mileage later). I'll be doing parkruns when I can every Saturday & have got a 10k race coming up at the end of…
  • Hi I live in the north east of England & this year is the first year I have run 3 half marathons, as well as 10k's & 5k's. I am also a regular parkrunner. I joined here yesterday as I am tentatively thinking about a marathon next year & to do that I need to lose weight & weight loss will also help my times improve. So any…

  • Hi I re-joined today and am from the north-east. I didn't join many forums/speak to people last time, so this time I'm going to join a few forums/chat in the hope I can be motivated & stay the course & support other people too
  • Hi I rejoined today after losing weight last time & then stopped when people started noticing (typical!) & put some back on. However I did keep up the exercise, but I 'just' need to sort my eating out - I like food!! I'd like to lose a couple of stone. Feel free to add me I'm using my phone & don't know if I can add or not…
  • Hi, I use the elliptical (legs only) when I am increasing time on my feet for half marathons as I have a back problem which gets worse with more impact. My physio said it is still a cardio workout and time spent on your feet - wouldn't replace a long run though.
  • Hi I run a parkrun most weeks - well run might be an overstatement some weeks! It doesnt matter if you run, jog or walk everyone is very friendly and most weeks someone seems to have made cake to go with a post run cuppa! I think we are lucky in Middlesbrough as we have 5 in the Tees Valley, plus another one in nearby…
  • Thanks for the replies. Think I will be buying one. Anne

  • Hi After reading your post, I went on the site you mentioned and am well into the intermediate and elite is within a few months of training for my bench press. So that made me smile - thank you! I am 50 (gulp!) and have started powerlifting for the past 14 months or so. I will be entering my first competition in April - a…

  • Morning Think I've added you as a friend. Have downloaded the android app and am using it for first time. So if i haven't please add me. I started again yesterday - hopefully full of enthusiasm and motivation. Fingers crossed. Last time i didn't really use these boards. That's changed now. Anne
  • Hi I started again today and live in Middlesbrough, England. Have been off this site for a while as had a hip injury and found eating and drinking were too easy and comforting. However, I am allowed to start cardio again ( sit down bike) but my bench and deadlifts have definitely improved - 107.5 kg dead and 62.5 kg bench…
  • Me too - from Middlesbrough and its very chilly today!
  • A year is plenty of time and you can do it! I did this years gnr and trained from 12 weeks out. Prior to that I started doing the Park Run which is a free to register 5k run, jog, walk in your local park. The one I go is incredibly supportive and some people walk it and some show offs do it in about 18 minutes (if only!).…
  • It was a fantastic day. The crowds and atmosphere was brilliant as well as seeing Mo Farah and Greg Ruthorford etc. If I can do it I would say anyone can. I am a plodder not a runner, but my aim for next year is for my 'plod' to get quicker! Anne
  • Hi I'll be wearing a very unflattering (!) Alzheimers Society running shirt. Let's just say I don't think they were designed for women with boobs!!!!!!!! We won't be at the pasta party as we will be travelling up on the Sunday - no doubt leaving Middlesbrough very early. 4 sleeps to go.......... and counting ...........…
  • Hi I may be asking a stupid question, which obviously means I don't - but what is clean eating? Anne
  • Morning from a sunny Middlesbrough. Its a bit cool which is just as well as off for my long run in a bit, but if it warms up later, I will be sitting in the garden catching the Indian Summer - well I can hope! Anne
  • Hi I'm doing it as well and lets just say my training has been up and down as have had a strained calf muscle and a hip injury but apart from that ....... my longest run so far has been just under 10 miles, so I am hoping the atmosphere will keep me going. I have been using the Lucozade sweets as well on my long runs. I'm…
  • Hi I'm from the Boro too but will travelling up to Newcastle for the Great North Run on Sept 16th. Anne
