  • I have a smoothie every weekday morning, and I put oats in it. After a bit of testing, I found you have to put the oats in the blender the night before and grind them up well. Then pour in chocolate milk and let it sit in the fridge overnight. The next morning, I add in frozen strawberries and run it all through the…
  • The Blue Menu Angus Burgers are fantastic! They're very juicy and half the calories of a regular burger. I've been happy with most Blue Menu items I've tried. And they're very reasonably priced.
  • I bought some ground chia at my local Bulk Barn. I mixed them in with my morning smoothie and I couldn't tell they were there. However, after a couple days of this, I started getting very itchy. And in a couple places I'm sure I had hives. I decided to give them up.
  • Now that the local pool is open for hte summer, I've started swimming again. I also find I'm really hungry after a swim. Swimming is great for burning calories. According to MFP, an hour of swimming is about 600 calories. So if you're eating an extra 400 calories, you're still 200 calories ahead.
  • qutoe "So unless she's been gorging on proteins and lifting like Schwarzenegger in his heyday" ^ That made me laugh! OK - to answer some questions, I have been eating at a deficit for the past year, but not a huge deficit. I sit at a desk all day and dont have a lot of room between my TDEE and BMR, so about 300 cal…
  • I gained weight, but then, I quit smoking when I found out I was pregnant with my oldest son. He is now 21 years old and I haven't had a smoke since then. Between quitting smoking, having 2 kids, and working at a sedentary job, I packed on the weight. However, I'm still happy I quit. Even back then it was starting to get…
  • When we go camping I always bring souvlaki. It's easy to make and is meant for BBQs. 3-4 chicken breasts (you can also use equivilent amounts of pork) juice of one lemon 1/4 olive oil 1/4 soy sauce (low sodium works best) 1 tsp oregano 3 cloves of garlic, crushed Serve with tzatziki sauce Cut the chicken into 1 inch cubes…
  • I've had my own issues with my mother. I do love her, and I know she will help me out whenever I need it. However, she has said some nasty things about me - to me and to others. Some things were weight related, but not all. I've learned to cut back the visits and not take the abuse anymore. I truly believe that if you just…
  • Your post brought tears to my eyes. Congratulations on staying sober and getting fit!
  • If I'm craving something, I eat it and then log it. Hopefully you have some room in your daily allotment for some treats.
  • I usually save some calories for an evening snack. My current favourite is a dish of ice cream (1/2 cup) and depending on the brand it's 130-150 calories. If I'm really lucky with the way I managed my day, I can sometimes even have some poptarts!
  • For me, I'm often hungry by the time I get home from work and if I don't have a good meal ready to eat, snacks end up filling the void. I have found that I either need to get the slow cooker going in the moring, or start a quick dinner the moment I get in the door. If I end up having a good dinner I usually have some…
  • I love bread and I even make an incredible French bread that everyone craves. I've cut back on my bread consumption ONLY because it has too many calories for the amount it fills me. Two slices of the thick bread I love have about the same calories as the pork chop I had last night. The pork chop was more filling.
  • You're in good company. I did that this morning too
  • My mainconcern is that you're not enjoying it. One my gym's PT gave me a free trial and I didn't like. If you don't like it you're not going to continue. My best suggestion is to talk to the Trainer about it.
  • I dont' know whether I should consider myself lucky or not...here in Canada they only have boxes that are half chocolate and half vanilla. Once a year they come out with the chocolate mint things. Needless to say, it hasn't been a temptation for me.
  • Congrats on quitting! I quit 21 years ago when I was pregnant with my first. I had always been a skinny-mini, but throw in having 2 kids, quitting smoking and having a sedentary lifestyle, the pounds just came on like crazy. Thankfully, it wasn't hard for me to quit smoking since I had the crazy pregnancy hormones going on…
  • As soon as I saw that I'm not supposed to eat tomatoes or corn, I decided the diet wasn't for me.
  • I don't use a crockpot for this as it doesn't take long. You can use turkey sauage, but I use regular since I find the difference between the two is minimal. It's about 300 calories for a one cup serving. Hot Italian Sausage Stew/Soup Ingredients • 2 tablespoons olive oil • 3 cloves garlic, minced • 1 medium onion, chopped…
  • I GAINED 6 pounds my first week. I had really gotten serious about working out so I was quite startled with the gain. A lot of reading showed me that your muscles start hanging onto the water to protect themselves when you first start out. Drink lots to alleviate this..
  • Super Easy Bean Burgers 1 lb ground beef 1 onion chopped 1/2 cup ketchup (add more or less to your taste) 1 can baked beans salt and pepper hamburger buns Fry up the beef with the onion. Add in the ketchup and beans. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve on hamburger buns. I'll often add a bit of garlic when frying up the…
  • As my doctor told me when I had a bladder infection, the bladder is warm, wet and dark - perfect conditions for bacterial growth. You really should empty your bladder every 90 minutes to help avoid infections.
  • We had enough people at work to get a WW group started. A WW person would come in early in the morning and do a weigh-in and hold a class. I went to the introductory session but never joined since I decided I'd rather be in the gym at that time. Later I found MFP and was even happier I didn't join. Some of my co-workers…
  • I've entered a few of my recipes and it's quite easy. Just measure all the food you put in. Decide how much a serving should be - one cup for example - then measure how many cups in total there are. Then MFP will tell you how many calories are in a serving.
  • I've never tried anything like that. I know I'd be miserable eating that little even if it was only for one day.
  • I've watched a class do Zumba as I was waiting for my class to begin. I've decided I will do Zumba only if they have an open bar.
  • I was stalled for well over a month. I decided to check out what my BMR is according to a few different sites. According to them, it's about 1500 - 1580, and MFP had my daily net calorie goal set at 1500. Realizing this is not good, I decided I needed to increase my calories to AT LEAST1600 net. After a week of this I've…
  • I loved Body Pump. I can't do it anymore due to shoulder issues (holding the barbell across the back/neck wasn't a good thing for me). However, over the 2 years I attended the class, I saw remarkable improvement in the amount of weight I could handle. It's an hour long so you're not doing really heavy weights. If you get…
  • I also need to eat a little something before a morning workout. I find a banana and a small glass of water is sufficient.
  • I can only speak for myself. Since I have a full time job, family, and meetings at least one night a week, I can only fit exercise in 3 mornings a week. I do find that I need a day between work out session to rest my muscles. Years ago, I tried running everyday and ended up with shin splints. All I can suggest is to make…
