  • I have recently decided to cut way back on added sugar - but not completely yet. The last time I tried to cut it out completely I had horrible headaches and gave in. I think if I cut back for a while first it will be an easier transition. Plus I'm staying with my boyfriend's family for Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend…
  • It's not actually that easy, if you are going truly completely gluten free. My boyfriend is celiac and you have to learn all the different names to look for on labels and read EVERY label. It's in soups, sauces, some salad dressings and vitamins and on and on. So, you need to decide how hard core you're going to be with it.
  • Hi Sheila, I don't have much to offer but am wondering a lot of the same. My live-in boyfriend was just diagnosed as celiac three days ago and so far we've been going through labels on all our packaged foods and googling things etc. Eating out and going to friend's houses will be the biggest challenges I think. Any advice…
  • Kale I taste a lot. Spinach less, and swiss chard even less.
  • I just made parsnip noodles for a stirfry. It was pretty good although the flavour was a bit overpowering. i think next time I will try something milder like turnip.
  • I'm set to 1550 and eat normal food. The only sort of what I call "hippie food" I eat is chia seeds and hemp hearts in my yogurt. I also eat stuff like pizza and beer and just try to keep it in my calories. Feel free to friend me. I log most days but sometimes not on weekends if I'm out and about and it's too hard.
  • I was on Celexa for 6 years and gained 50 pounds within about the first two years. Was off meds for 8 years, and then went on Lexapro when my anxiety got bad again. It reduced my appetite at first, but then I became ravenously hungry and had other side effects which made it a no-go for me. The doc then wanted me to try…
  • I have the flex and it has definitely helped me be more active. I love feeling the vibration of hitting 10,000 and the competitions with friends and coworkers helps because I'm competitive. I don't have to win (but I like to), but I definitely don't want to come in last place! I've had it since January and still use it…
  • I'm 36. I lost 44 pounds, then hurt my back and had to stop running and gained back 24. At this point I want to lose between 25-30 pounds, but more importantly get fit and stronger and fit back into my clothes.
  • There are lots of workouts on Pinterest too - makes it easy to mix things up.
  • I have the Flex (for now, will upgarde eventually) and it works for me because it helps me see how active I've been, so when I'm lagging behind usual stats, I will make more of an effort to get up and move. Also, I'm competitive, so the challenges with my friends help a lot. I do things now like get off the bus early, walk…
  • I'm in!
  • Excellent work! I hope you stay healthy!
  • I take a multivitamin, 2 calcium+magnesium+zinc tablets, a B6 and D3. This combo (particularly the magnesium) has helped drastically reduce my chronic tension headaches among other things, in a short period of time (a couple weeks).
  • I use a vegetarian protein powder and mix it with almond milk. It's pretty good.
  • Fellow IBS sufferer here, since my teenage years. The things that trigger mine are eating too much greasy food (like a burger and fries, sadly), eating large portions at one time, and steak, oddly enough. Also, the more stressed I am the worse it gets so trying to reduce stress helps but that obviously isn't always…
  • That's awesome! And hopefully your story will remind people to register as an organ donor and tell their families their donation wishes!
  • Me! I'm planning to finish strong! I've only lost a few pounds but several inches, and have been doing well staying under my calorie goal without it feeling like too much of a struggle. Now that that's not as hard I'm going to work on improving the quality of food (but still want treats) and increasing my activity levels.…
  • I look younger. I'm also 36 and get carded all the time at the liquor store. I looked a bit older when I was heavier but I'm lucky to not have any wrinkles yet (good genes and religious use of sunscreen on my face for many years).
  • The first time I lost weight (44 pounds and was at my ideal weight), I did hit a major plateau and when I upped my calories it started coming off again. It might be good to calorie cycle a bit too, maybe stick to 1200 every other day, but go up to 1400 on the other days. I would play around with it a bit and see what…
  • I hope to weigh less than my boyfriend at some point. He is one of those naturally very thin people. So even though he is about 7 inches taller than me, I weigh almost 20 pounds more. It was kind of depressing when I found out his weight!! Although, I know he'd love to weigh more. (Why can't I just give him some of mine??)
  • I've only lost a 2-3 pounds but am down as much as 3 inches in certain places. I was pretty discouraged until I pulled out the measuring tape so yay for that. Eating within my calorie range is becoming easier. I need to focus on improving the quality of the food that I'm eating. I manage to include a lot of treats but…
  • I'm FINALLY seeing some progress on the scale. More importantly I'd already lost a few inches, but it's nice to see that reflected on the scale too. It's not much, but it's something, and that's enough to keep me motivated.
  • I agree with a lot of what was said above, And I too tend to err on the side of upping the calories a bit if I'm not sure. I'd rather be a bit more under than over without knowing.
  • I also find that forcible exhaling helps.
  • Feel free to send me a friend request - my diary is open. It isn't always that great as I love me some treats, but I manage to stay under my calorie goal most days. I log in a pretty detailed way, but sometimes skip days when I'm super busy.
  • Way to go Dana!
  • Spices and hot sauce. That's about it. Oh and my vitamins.
