  • Great job! If you need someone to adopt those pants, let me know.
  • When I was pregnant, I mainly used MFP to track my intake. I calculated my TDEE/saw what MFP gave me for maintenance and added 300 kcal for pregnancy. I think that's the estimate for the 2nd trimester. I tried to eat around that number but wasn't too worried if I just didn't feel hungry and would stay about 300 kcal under.…
  • It's a challenge. I have two kids (28 and 10 months) and trying to lose all the pregnancy weight. I lose some and then I stall for months, lacking motivation. This is where I am at now. There's also the aspect of sleep deprivation. I try to eat clean and incorporate as much physical activity into my day: cycle to work, go…
  • Does everyone do this in one set, or do you break it up? I'm at day 19 and on a good day I do 2 + 1 min.
  • I'm in. Tried a 60min plank challenge a couple of years ago and failed. Started by myself 8 days ago at 2min a day. Getting that up to 5 by the end of the month will be the big challenge.
  • A balanced meat-free diet should be fine. No need for supplements; those are only needed if you decide to cut out all animal products. As mentioned before: lots of veggies (do not replace the meat by more pasta), milk products, quinoa, seitan, tofu, beans, legumes and nuts.
  • 7 months pp and still 5kg to go (of the 17 or so I gained). You are doing great.
  • Don't be lazy, inflate your tires. It makes riding a bike so much more comfortable and fun. Yes on the helmet and having someone to tell you whether your bike fits or not. Important if you start doing longer distances. Enjoy!
  • Do you cook chia seeds? Just like quinoa? Only recently discovered them and just added them to my breakfast (yoghurt, fruit and muesli). Works with hemp seeds as well.
  • We've had some fights which were clearly stress-related. I know of friends who have them more regular during pregnancy. It has to do with the woman having a one-track mind (everything's related to baby) and the man not being very involved ("we have plenty of time until the baby arrives; right now it's business as usual").…
  • I agree with previous poster. I was told you should gain most in 3rd trimester and eat about 300cal over goal. I'm starting my 3rd trimester now and my weight gain is slowing down, which is good. I gained a lot at the beginning of my second and my doctor advised me to stop gaining weight. I know I'll gain if I gain. My…
  • My idea would be not to get him anything, or maybe a last nice meal out with the two of you (if you can still handle it). Or a massage for the two of you before baby comes. I'm expecting my first and as you, I don't want to overcrowd the place, so if I'd have a diaper bag, though girly, I wouldn't buy a second one. On the…
  • I am often so thirsty I'm quite happy to drink water. If not, I add sugar free/no cal lemon syrup. Or try tea? Or eat more soup?
  • Only a little more than before: mainly chocolate, of course. But I also want to make apple pie, cakes, crumbles,... and eat them all!
  • I didn't want anything in my first trimester. It all made me sick. Potatoes (baked or mash) went down most easily. By 12-14 weeks I started feeling better and eating more. For the next two months, most of my aversions were in my had. I had thrown up kiwi and spinach, so I didn't want those, until I tried them and…
  • My midwife told me 15kg for my height and build but that was when I had already gained 7kg at 20 weeks. I thought I'd limit myself to 10kg at first, but experience has taught me that my weight goes up, whether I like it or not. I need to remind myself I'm eating (fairly) healthy, moving as much as possible and shouldn't…
  • I once found a low cal zucchine pancake recipe. It tasted as good as normal pancakes to me.
  • I feel your pain. Sometimes my nights are pretty bad and I'm wide awake for hours, only to fall asleep right before the alarm goes off. Luckily, I do get the occasional good night (last night) and it makes me feel so much better!

  • Sometimes you gain a lot, when you think you're doing everything the right way. I've gained a lot in the 4th month and now my gain has slowed down. Mind you, at 23 weeks I'm up 8kg. Tracking my intake keeps me sane, because I know I haven't gone that much over it. And with the luck I've had, I'm pretty sure I'll either…
  • Thanks for bringing me up to speed. I'll make a note in my diary at 36w. :-)

  • Can I ask: why 6 or 7 dates a day? Dried dates?

  • Some of those symptoms sound pretty bad. Thanks for the tips on sciatica. I managed to break my wrist so with another 5 weeks of cast ahead of me, my second trimester has gotten less fun. I'm surprised at how hard it is to get dressed, with the expanding waistline and only one hand to pull clothes up. And of course I am…
  • I must say I agree with most of the previous posters: having a miscarriage at week 6 or 7 is not uncommon and there's nothing you can do about it. It's not something you did and it's not something you can avoid either. It often only means there was something wrong with the genes. Good luck!
  • I was all for cycling. Through my own fault, I fell yesterday and fractured my wrist. Baby wasn't checked at the hospital but I had gone out of my way to protect belly and it all feels like before. Your bones are apparently weaker, more prone to break, and as you know, you cannot take the "good" meds right now. I'm now…
  • First trimester: no cravings. What I could keep down was potato, mashed or baked. And I wanted my food saltier and sweeter. Now I'm in my second, I could eat pasta everyday (mac and cheese sounds delicious), I still love mash and things like shepherd's pie and stews (but that might be the season and the weather). And I…

  • Queenmolly68, I'd be interested in a good support band for my workouts...
  • I'm pregnant with my first and started yoga. Hoping it will help with my balance. I'd be interested in other people's experience.
  • It is hard but I'm trying not to watch the numbers too much. I know of several women who've gained 20+ kg during pregnancy but were only 3-4kg too heavy leaving the hospital. It seems that some people just put on weight and it is not all fat. I'm just crossing my fingers that if I gain so much there'll be a lot of water…
  • I lost 2 kg in the first trimester but had gained them back by the end of that trimester. Then at the start of my second I immediately gaines 2,5kg more.
  • I'm 16w and not doing too badly. Cycling, running and walking, though especially the running is really slow. What would be a realistic weekly goal for you?
