Yay! Glad you two have found each other. I can't commit to anything at the moment but will join I'm when things make it onto the forum here <3

I follow the rule "eat everything sitting down" including tasting food etc. I was alarmed at how often my hand went up to my mouth in those first few days and I had to stop it. The weight started falling off too.

I read the pink book (original beck diet solution) a couple of years ago and bought the accompanying workbook. I didn't complete them as I fell into some of the traps (as found in the beck diet trap book, which I read a couple of months ago). So I have now just finished using the workbook (I completed it this time, finally…

Welcome! I surrendered and accepted Beck's instructions and took the do it anyway approach when I thought I didn't need to practice a skill etc. I had done beck before with a less rigid mindset and consequently didn't have long term success (first month was easy). Add me as a friend if you like. Which book are you using?

Make a list of reasons to lose weight and read it every day when you get up. It will help keep you on track
-
Make a list of things to do to distract yourself and do those instead of stress eating. And don't be too hard on yourself, else you'll have two problems, the original one and the guilt etc from beating yourself up for overeating.

Thanks so much! I would love to go to her workshop one day (I live in New Zealand!). I am focusing on the habits as I think that really is what trips me up and makes me regain after dieting.
-
My most helpful one has been "it's not the calories in the bite that counts, it's the habit. Even if something has no calories, each unplanned bite makes it easier to take another at a different time". The first week it was amazing how often my hand would go up to my mouth with food in it when I was in the kitchen. Tastes…

Add me too, I have done the first 3 weeks before but am reconnecting now using the workbook and the diet traps book. I'm on week 2 of the workbook but have been using the techniques for a month, but not calorie counting. Tomorrow the calorie counting starts. ☺

There will be a way. Frozen veg are good, nuts are easy to keep in the pantry, root vegetables keep for a long time, slow-cookers are amazing. I cook a massive roast with vegetables, then eat the meat and veg all week in different ways, add the veg to a fritatta and have that for breakfast, snack on nuts. I buy some ready…

I hate it when you hop in the spa afterwards to relax and can't un-see the man/silverback gorilla stretching it out in his two sizes too small speedo that leaves nothing to the imagination. I hate it when some try-hard decides to dive/bellyflop into the medium lane of the pool almost on top of you as you are about to…

Thanks! THATS more like it, I could imagine doing that one

BRRRRRRR!!!! my teeth are chattering just thinking about it. ICELAND? I suggested a tropical swim for you! What gives! ;-)

HOLY MOLY! That is COLD! WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT! sorry yelling, but really WHY????

Enjoy! I love ocean swimming, so many more adventures to be had in the sea compared to the pool.

I know this isn't quite what you are asking, but I hope that this helps you or someone else. I have seen many patients who have panic attacks that have successfully recovered quite quickly from the panic attacks, through cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). If you are interested, you could see a therapist for some…

Have a look at www.swimsmooth.com I get a lot of really good info from there. They have a book that I have borrowed from the library which I think is really helpful to break down technique, and give you some good training schedules. Try aqua-jogging as well if you are training for a run (the run along the bottom of the…

I have scoliosis ( curvature of the spine), I've had 2 major back ops fusing from T9 to L2, then a second fusing from T7 to L3, I have 4 rods and I can't count the screws. I am 32 and sometimes feel like 82 as chronic pain is part of my life. I have gotten used to the cycle of getting fit, having an injury, losing…

I have a swim coach with an Endless pool. I've only been for a few sessions (I'm a novice) but BOY it's a workout. It pushes you hard, and feels really fun! It's like swimming up a fast moving river (not that I have). It is comfortable but the speed (adjustable) makes you work hard and puff! My coach uses it to train and…

Love this thread! It's inspired me to work on some new goals with swimming when I'm getting bored of doing freestyle. At present I'm working on building distance for some longer races, but over winter (I'm in the Southern Hemisphere) I'll mix up with learning some new strokes. As an aside, someone did a 3.3km ocean swim…

I think those of us who swim in the ocean tend to swim in the pool too... we are just embracing summer! I had a swim in the pool today to pay tribute to those who have to swim in pools because they are left with no choice. Who knew that it would be such a controversial topic!
-
I have to agree, it's the Aussie sense of humour, as a Kiwi I totally got it and loved it, so didn't see any cause for offence. I also swim in the pool.

I use Tanita scales, they are really good. I get a variance of 100g but I think that's acceptable.
